This actress is an amazing actress seen in many other movies. She is the brightest star in the sky, absolutely beautiful
One of my go-to dramas! The main couple’s chemistry is off-the-charts and the age difference fit well with the story. Lu Jin (played wonderfully by actor Lin Yu Shen) is at least 10 years older than Gu Sheng Nan (perfectly portrayed by Rosy Zhao /Zhao Lu Si) and the actors are actually 18 years apart in age. Such an interesting story. How Lin Yu Shen was able to eat all that food and still maintain his weight is just amazing! I felt, however, Gu Sheng Nan was much too naive when it came to Lu Jin’s younger brother, Lu Sheng (Lu Xiang was FANTASTIC in this role - he could be both wickedly evil, and also could be so vulnerable). And I LOVE the supporting cast! They added so much humor to this already terrific story! Lu Jin’s mother was portrayed absolutely spot on - can’t find the actress’ name who superbly played her. She was so self centered, arrogant and sly! As was Lu Jin’s coworker, Li Man, (played also to perfection by actress Li Qian). I can’t get over how many “love rivals” think the guy they work well with should automatically marry them! Dating In The Kitchen is a wonderfully shot drama with such a memorable OST. One of the best Chinese dramas made and one of my all-time favorites! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. 😊❤️👍

What a great drama… I love the Lu Gin character. He really reacts like an adult. His reaction is not childish but mature. He has always believed in Nan Nan and did everything he could to protect her. Nan Nan sometimes reacts childishly (which is normal at that age) and sometimes I wanted to slap her....but I also loved her character. For me....age is just a number and love their age difference...been there...done there
Nan Nan was the one who made Lu Gin want a life outside of work. He was/is a workaholic but now he wants free time to enjoy their love.

I would have preferred she was able to leave the house before he got there and lost her, and had to work to find her again. It would have made for a more meaningful ending with both mother and son considering all they did to her.

She should not marry him. Apparently both he and she lets the mother call the shots in their relationship. If they marry, there will be 3 people in that marriage. She and him need to learn to be adults before marriage.
@@skd6945 sadly, the story was always gonna end with her with him. So if the end required them to end up together, he needed to suffer much more. If we take this to its natural conclusion, this marriage will have even more than 3. It will have the mother, brother, stepmother, friends, family, and love rivals. It's a whole party.

In this particular clip when Lu Jin and Shengnan came back to the house, I cannot help but wonder how Lu Jin really lived his life. It seemed he didn't have any, unless directed by his mom. I can understand if he is still young, but here, he is over 30. How is it possible that he never knew any kind of life before Shengnan. Yes, yes, yes, some of you will say that is just how it is from what we've seen, but a very keen and intelligent businessman who is on board with the nuances of people he dealt with over the years should have a concept...don't you think?
Some people just work and think of making money and not think about anything else…he could be that type of people…I’m just guessing of course lol
I think that Lu Jin was simply so absorbed in making his mom happy (he truly loved and respected her, especially after his father left them with nothing and Mom was able to not only “make ends meet” but create a SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS, too)! I think his obsession with getting revenge on his father drove him, as well. So he never really made time for dating. As he said to Gu Sheng Nan, no one ever made him feel like she did, no one could ever distract him enough from his revenge plans, except Gu Sheng Nan. And it took being apart from her for a bit for him to realize it.

I have seen a similar ending with a US movie and that always gets me. Pure love always you to let go to allow that other person to be happy, even without you. It's a strong heart and selfless soul that you'd rather spread happiness than make someone miserable tied to you. Lu Jin would have been happy with his Lady Chef but without his Mom, he would always wonder. For a woman without parents to know what that means is truly makes her a better person than his Mom. Whatever in her life made her bitter, hopefully with Shegnan she will learn what love really is and come to appreciate her and hopefully both become a mother (in law) daughter duo as Shegnan doesn't have a mother and hopefully gets one with her mother in law. This small family has the potential to be loving and productive..and hopefully with kids added to the mix. I hope for a Part 2. It matters not the age difference between FL and ML. They are consenting adults and compliment each other. He needs someone who knows how to have fun and loves to cook and she needs someone who is business savvy/responsible and to cook for. They are partners in life and I love seeing that.

His Mom played the Villian to her to make sure she could handle th pressures. She bullied her because she was too young and poor and only wanted money, she bullied her because she was 'only a chef' because she knows that as long as she is with her son these are things people will say about her and attack her with. So she needs to make sure she is strong enough to handle it.
if I were Lu Jin's mother then I would do the same. because I want my son to find the right partner. Works hard, loves him completely, kind, understanding and not a spoiled woman who can't do anything and only depends on men.
No, she didn't. She told her to leave him so that she could find him someone of their social standing. It was only when he confronted her angrily that she (I think) was all 'I think she's wonderful'. No, she doesn't, but she's bright enough to back down and be nice (for now). My inlaws were the same. For about five minutes, then the real hell began. She will NEVER stop putting that girl down. Same thing happened in the movie 'Crazy, Rich Asians' - the rich mum only backed down when she realised she might lose her son who would follow the wonderful young FL. But her opinion never changed, and Lu's mother's hasn't either. I think Gu's uncle saw that and that was why he warned Lu not to let anyone hurt her, including himself.
Lu's rich mother humiliated Gu at every turn. I have inlaws like that - trust me, it's NOT 'testing' someone, it's just spiteful narcissism and having a child they HAD had total control of now becoming their own person because they love someone. It's all about marking their 'territory' and trying to scare off, chase away the 'threat' to their control. They'd chased off every other girlfriend, until me.
Let's remember, she sent Lu to get Gu LONG after she'd left the mansion; so what if he hadn't stopped her in time, and had arrived AFTER she'd left? He really should have stood up to his mother and told her to back off or lose him LONG before it got to that point. The mother was a total control freak with that poor guy. Constantly checking up on him, lecturing him, etc. That was NOT a caring parent. BOTH the brothers mothers in this drama were evil women, using their sons as weapons against each other for their own feud over their cheating husband. Don't get me wrong, I love Lu and Gu together - Lu was a really damaged soul; my heart broke for him regularly. He reminded me too much of my husband when I first met him. The only difference is he's not rich. But my inlaws friends talked down to me, belittled me - but I could take it because I had my husband. My inlaws knew that; just as Lu's mother knows how strong Gu is. So no, it was NEVER about looking out for her son. It WAS about being a controlling, narcissistic old b!tch.
Mother like this a selfish do not deserve to have a child... you are there to guide not yo dictate ur own selfish will... let ur chold choose want... you dont have the right to dictate ur child

Gu has said that cooking is a language of love so to have the mom cook for her shows that Gu has really won the mom over.
Honestly, I am so glad I live in country and society where we can tell these rare kinds of mothers / mothers in law to shove off and that respect is earned not just given. Oh, and not live with them!!! How I wish this girl had gotten away before he arrived.
