This will get some people upset, but a turntable doesn’t (or at least shouldn’t) have a “sound”. A turntable is a platter spinning and cartridge delivery device. So long as it achieves steady, accurate and silent speed and delivers the cart to the vinyl in accordance with the cart makers specs, it has done its job. If it makes its own sound something is terribly wrong. That’s why I thought you were spot on in describing how this table allowed you to hear the differences between the carts, but went astray in describing the “sound” of the table itself. If you feel that compromises my integrity, that’s fine. Many are gonna appreciate this lineup of speakers and that’s all I care about with this venture.

As much as this would take me back to my 1973 ish roots with Technics l just don't think the tonearm is up to snuff. Plus my current $9k rig does everything l need at the 72 year old moment.
Back in the 60's most turntables were sold without tonearms. The last turntable i bought was the Pro-Ject 6. Perspex Magnetic Suspension Turntable. The weak link was the tonearm.. I replaced it with a Hadcock GH 242 Export Unipivot Tonearm.(Made in England) Best upgrade i ever made.
@Robert-r4s4c The Wand from Simon Brown in New Zealand that l have now is a very fine and very unconventional looking uni pivot. Happy Listening.
Vinyl is just like shooting with film camera. It’s nostalgic but like film is full of grain so does vinyl is full of clicks and pops and lower sound quality.
I still have some 500 LPs and I love the large artwork but nothing else.
Same way as I scanned my Velvia slides I got all my music in digital.
I know some love the format and it’s their money to spend as they like but investing in vinyl is not for me.
I agree, spend more time on records and turntables
Still no auto stop. Darnit!
Couldn't watch the video. My ad blocker blocked it in its entirety. Expect the part about your wife.
That got a laugh.
I had my 1210 donkeys years time for a demo I think 🤔
Good review! Too bad it doesn't have a balanced output. On a different topic, when are you going to get your hands on a Schiit Wotan for review?
@@Starmangmh57 all stereo MM and MC cartridges are balanced. By nature. The movement of the needle that generates a positive voltage on the plus lead simultaneously generates a negative voltage on the minus lead.
@@ulrikmortensen9426 while it is true MM and MC cartridges are balanced by nature, that balance ends at the phono output. RCA cables cannot carry a balanced signal from the turntable to the phono preamp.
Rega P3 all day.
3200, for that Chinese parted table ...
No thanks.... Tons of tables that are nicer
A classic djs deck and a audiophilish version, which I have no doubt does a solid job but this sounds like a payed advertisement. Not one criticism, just appears to be the manufacturers blurb. No comparisons to anything similar.
You've lost me because of this one.
🙄🥱blablabla...
Pioneer PLX1000 for $725. Just as good.
no it's not. not even close ☹
@@krwd There is nothing special about this Technics turntable other than its outrageous price tag. It's stripped down of features, and the platters on Malaysia products are rarely perfectly flat, and their glued-on insulation is crappy. The Malaysia factory is hit and miss with quality control. The fit and finish on the PLX1000 is perfect and its optical speed control is more accurate. Other than not having a hinged dust cover it is flawless in both sound quality and operation.
Calls himself record day but talks about digital audio 98% of the time😅😅 change your name fellow. Let the beard grow in again
yeah, he's a 'very young' digital guy for sure
"Where 's the pitch control..!?!🙃😕.
🤕🇪🇺
Pitch control is for DJ style tables; 1300G is targeting the ‘audiophile’ market, or so I’m told.
Edit: the strobe and cueing light are deleted for the same reason.
absolutely no need for that
@@TrueAudio "I've found with the pitch -con you do get much more control over the sound.. but you got to know when to engage it and having it is an easy extra add-on ..As for this audio purists thingy..No comment!?🙃 ..

fully manual :( - $4,499.99 CAD$
I love my dad’s old 1200 from the 80s but it sits in the closet because Technics turntables are just flat ugly. Silver plastic electronics went out with the beige metal computer box about 30 years ago. Why they have not offered a premium finish for people who don’t want a dorm room look is beyond me
Months ago, Dani Corbelli made a fantastic review in Spanish and that I highly recommend.

Arm is too light and the bearing gimble is made of plastic
@@jm_1214 so much for state of the art. A toy record player?
Who has that kinda money?
3200 e pour une technics, vous êtes sérieux, déjà que l'originale etait douteuse.
n'importe quoi, quel blabla inepte.
100K Subs!
Thank you!
Finally the turntable we middle class budget audiophiles have been asking for. Don’t need the DJ stuff the 1200 series offers. “Cart”? If “cartridge” too many syllables Ron? Merch, app, cart, where does the lazy speak end? 😉😂😎
I think my Pro-Ject 6 Perspex Magnetic Suspension Turntable fitted with a Hadcock GH 242 Export Unipivot Tonearm with a Denon DL 301 MK 2 Moving Coil Cartridge does a better job of extracting the information from a record grove than an all in one Turntable combination irrespective of drive method.
It looks rather flimsy compared to my turntable. I don't want a piece of art, i want performance.
All turntables impose a character on the music. They are not perfect.
Don't need it.
Thanks for sharing.🙄
Wow, another 'reviewer' has become an audio designer. I think you can be one or the other but to do both makes you lose credibility as a reviewer.
Let’s get this part right, I’m no designer. I just happened to love a particular speaker enough to put my stamp of approval on it and had a little input along the way.
If you feel that compromises my integrity, that’s fine.
Many are gonna appreciate this lineup of speakers and that’s all I care about with this venture.
If you disagree with Ron's judgment, then why are you watching? The Galion amps don't degrade Thomas and Stereo's credibility. They reinforce it when Ron and others confirm its performance.
@@Newrecordday2013 Ahh, I am glad you are not claiming to be a speaker designer but you need to sell some things because you have a youtube channel. So, you want to be a retailer as well as a reviewer? Will you be the exclusive seller of this product? Will Stereophile or Tone Audio or the Absolute Sound or any independent reviewer review them?
Hey @bryantaylor2946
I am not going to be selling anything. In fact, there is no financial interest in this product line whatsoever.
GR-Research will be offering the products and handling all manufacturing and pricing for the line up. I have no interest in receiving any money or compensation for my input.
As far as independent reviews are concerned, we definitely want others to check out the speakers and review them. That’s not a problem at all.
A new DAC every month is cheaper then your SL-1300. I'd rather buy the new and improved "DAC of the Month" so that way I'm saving money. You wouldn't believe how different the same delta-sigma ship can sound! I have all the Toppings, and the Mk 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Ding-ha DACs, and all 5 revs of the Storminator and.... Oh wait, on second thought.
I'll take 1 great turntable setup over 12 cheap DACs.
I love the bang and olafson linear tracking turntables so simple design
Go Olaf!!🎉
budget friendly Ortofon bronze concorde... quick google search says it´s 400 Dollars :D not friendly to everyone´s budget I suppose
Sad to say, this was a bit infomercialish 🥲I hold you in high regard but did expect more of this review.
Would you consider acquiring an old SL 1210 and compare? That would be fun. The old one has the “heavy” 😂 transformer in stead of a switch mode PS. But the 1210 platter is lighter than the “heavy 1200G. I wonder if the old and the new record player end up with similar weights? The tone arm looks identical. Aluminum and same features.
Did you use the stock cables on it ? I have one on order, should have it by the end of January. Will be curious how it sounds with my Dynavector 20X2-L into a Gold Note PH10/PSU10.
Why do yanks call them Techneeks?
you might want to ask the Japanese that
@@krwd They don't know English!
@@krwdit's definitely Technics (Tek nicks) not techniques
