Libertarians aren’t exactly a bastion of logic and historical materialist analysis… especially since most of them believe in Austrian economics. Just as a quick reminder, Austrian economists believe in a complete deregulation of the economy aka “a free free market” and they tried to rebuke Marx’s Labour Theory of Value with something called The Subjective Theory of Value which essentially claims mathematical models are useless in economics because humans are “too complex” and then goes on to explain nothing of substance beyond “let the market decide all values because all values are subjective” while obviously misinterpreting LTV and masterfully ignoring each and any criticisms against markets and capital dominance. They usually say yes that’s how they want it, but that would go for surgeons and other medics and pharma, tattoo facilities, restaurants (safety inspections), food factories, farms and sla>$&ter houses, hair and nail salons, etc. History has shown us that the for profit model causes money incentive to interfere with best practices when it comes to the interests of other stakeholders and causes externalities. It's a shame you chose this title Kyle considering how great and respectful of an interview this was, and how refreshing of a presidential candidate Chase Oliver is, as well as just how decent of a man he is overall. Don't stoop to the level of all these other clickbait political TH-camrs.
You guys are unbelievably cocked. I can’t believe anyone’s having this response. This was a horrible disgusting interview. Kyle just let him walk all over him without pushing back once the guy would make his dumb argument. Kyle would be like I disagree and then the guy would double down on his dumb argument, and Kyle would be like OK moving on like he was too scared to say anything
Well this is a pleasant surprise. Kyle interviewing a Presidential candidate and a Libertarian candidate at that. 👀
As a left leaning libertarian he’s based when it comes to personal freedom
I have met a lot of different people in the Libertarian community. They have people from all walks of life and very different cultures. They don't always get along - but they can exist in a single party because they agree on the role of government in society. Once that is out of the way even Fundamentalist Christians and Atheists don't need to fear each other. Imagine if our whole society worked that way.

Great interview. Thanks Kyle!

Went over and listened to the full interview on substack. I would be very interested in hearing a follow up interview with more questions that delve into what I might disagree with as someone who falls into the democratic socialism camp. Chase came off very well in this interview and honestly might have my vote if the Dems put up someone I don’t prefer like Harris. I didn’t agree with everything stated on the 2nd amendment or Argentina, but I heard some wonderful things in regards to war and drugs that I have not heard from a candidate previously that was a breath of fresh air.
Awesome interview.

@@OddWoz Oh, its just not this particular video. Its every video on Secular Talk, Humanist Report or others that have anything to do with politics.
As I understand it, TH-cam is autodeleting comments that have trigger words in them. Comments that they deem as problematic. I for instance cannot use certain sentences, words or phrases, otherwise my comment doesn't get through. But for some it does, and I don't know why. Maybe it has to do with how active you are online, and if you use certain words too often, you are automatically deleted.
But I also know that for content creators, that they can set it so their channel is moderated. I suspect Kyle is one of those. Frankly, Frankly, Frankly… haha. Good job Kyle, I love that you pick through policy with candidates and politicians!
Has Chase Oliver never heard of the Gilded Age?
Like… you don’t need a commie to tell you Austrian economists are wrong, most other economists agree, even neoliberal or Keynesian ones.

Why shud there be a business like cannabis that’s not taxed?? Why that particular business. Doesn’t make sense.
I think he's suggesting that it would be treated as a normal business, such that people can open businesses if they choose to.
Some businesses, particularly in the medical industry, require you to get permission from the government before you can operate. I mean licenses, certificates of need, etc.
Also marijuana businesses in Colorado and other states have specific sin taxes aimed at them that don't apply to other businesses. I think he's saying his position is that he would not want the regulation to work like this.
@@coryschwartz1570 well, y’know the age old question pointed to libertarians is whether they would want builders to be regulated (building codes). And if they would want corporate for-profit businesses to regulate themselves and then to live or work in buildings that were built without having to abide by regulations or only by for profit business’ regulations. In recent weeks, Bangladesh has witnessed a disturbing escalation in violence against students who have been peacefully protesting the existing quota system in public sector jobs. There's a libertarian presidential candidate?
I'm a Libertarian in support of open borders because I remember how much better things were when the border was open. People worked on one side of the border where there was work and took their wages back across the border where the cost of living was astronomically low. Likewise, Americans frequently crossed the border to spend their dollars at the border towns, which helped their economy. The inexpensive goods they purchased there were then brought back to the United States and sold for a profit in San Antonio and other Texas towns. If you want illegal immigrants not living in the U.S. open the border, allow them to work here, and return where their income goes much further.

If you're just learning about "libertarianism," then you need to know that the libertarian-concept in historical-practice has NOT been the same as the Libertarian-party in modern-practice. The Libertarian-party is bought, owned, bribed, & controlled by the same corrupt wealthy-class, with their corrupt RW-politics, as the Repub&Dem parties.
Libertarians, Repubs&Dems, ALL espouse a small government, and they view the libertarian-concept to mean the inequitable "freedom TO oppress others" and NOT the equitable "freedom FROM oppression by others."
If the government isn't strong enough to ensure "freedom FROM oppression," then the biggest, strongest, and most vile&violent people would impose their "freedom TO oppress" the smallest, weakest, kindest & most-vulnerable people (instead of just having the people from the wealthy-class oppressing the people of the working-class, like we have now).
The people in the modern Libertarian-party advocate for small government and the individual freedom TO oppress others.
The people for the historical libertarian-concept advocate for a government that is big enough to protect the weakest&poorest individual's freedom FROM oppression by the strongest&wealthiest.
The Libertarian-party was literally started by some corrupt billionaires from the wealthy-class, because the Repubs&Dems weren't shrinking & destroying the government fast enough for them & their corrupt RW-politics.
Don't be fooled -- the political-Libertarians of the present are NOT the conceptual-libertarians of the past.
And when push-come-to-shove, the working-class dupes in the Libertarian-party will do whatever their masters in the wealthy-class tell them to do.
