I'm brand new to Minecraft so barely know what I'm talking about :), but I have 5800X, 64GB, 7800XT and I'm using the Notifine mod pack. It gives insane performance compared to vanilla - like 800-1000+ fps with render distance 32 chunks without shaders, or 100-200 fps with shaders at high/max settings still 32 chunks! More than 10x faster than vanilla. Being able to use 32 chunk render distance my horizons are pretty distant already :) but I wan't to try distant horizons anyway - hoping it will work if I just chuck it in the mix with all this Notifine stuff, but expecting failure. Maybe you need some of the performance mods Notifine is using? Or just try Notifine without distant horizons (assuming it wont work) and you should get similar performance to me and be able to use shaders and big render distance.
It would be a strong contender if it supported shaders, maybe after DH is finished its development with Iris they might move onto nvidium and Vulken mod.
Looks great! Does anyone know how this mod affects flying with an Elytra for example? I’m worried having to load so many chunks it will tank performance.
I have a rayzen 9 5900x with which I would hope to be able to use the cpu setting aggressively, however when doing this the game freezes and closes. I am using the beta version for minecraft 1.20.4. Does it have to do with this or simply my cpu cannot handle this?
how do you get just the file itself? For example, if I wanted to put it into a curseforge modpack (whenever I download from curseforge itself, it does not work with shaders)
Hello Mate, i do not have that options menu from this installation? when i go to shaders, no shader is insallted but in the lower left corner it says, iris and fabric EDIT: So i found out that distant horizon is not on the installer anymore and so it install only two .jar to the mod folder. ist that right, can you prove that
Somehow, I can't get it to work properly. It won't load distant chunks until I have visited them directly ; and as soon as I enable Bliss, it just switch to the normal distance rendering. I think I'll stay with Bobby + Complementary for the moment. Bliss look cool tho, especially the water, but I find it a bit too "cold" compared to Complementary , and I'm really, really missing the "show light level when holding a light source" option.
When I turn it off I get a big red writing saying java rendering is disablred or something like that and the when I turn it back on DIstant Horizions breaks and makes the further blocks all weird... any tips to fix it? I followed every step of the video. I'm on the latest version of fabric 1.20.6
i have this weird bug thing where any blocks that are about 7-10 blocks away have this weird grid linew around them and it fades away as i walk towards them. not sure if this is a DH problem.
I'm brand new to Minecraft so barely know what I'm talking about :). I have 5800X, 64GB, 7800XT and I'm currently using the Notifine mod pack. Java applets leak memory when more than 12GB of RAM is assigned to them, just so you know, it's best to assign a maximum of 8 or maybe 10GB instead of 16, since performance can actually be worse when too much is assigned
It gives me this error when i try to load the shader text_bg.vsh: text_bg.vsh: ERROR: 0:124: 'entityId' : undeclared identifier ERROR: 0:124: '' : compilation terminated ERROR: 2 compilation errors. No code generated.
2:53 Read somewhere that Minecraft isn't optimized for excessive ram allocation, so that you wouldn't see better results beyond 6 or 8 gigs, no matter how much your PC has.
I've tested DH at (almost) max settings at 256 chunks, with 24gb of ram, then 16gb and then 8gb. With 24gb, it was really not stable, 16gb was much better, and no difference between 16gb and 8gb. So yeah, what you've read might be true.

Also has anyone else noticed stuttering after updating to the most recent NVIDIA drivers?
It's always stuttering. And using over 30 GB of ram. I don't know why everyone says it works perfectly.
@@Razor235G I actually did some tweaking and uninstalled/reinstalled the latest NVIDIA drivers and it started working fine again. It's just real finnicky I think.
@@justinrodriguez5999 I changed pre-installed JVM arguments in my launcher and it started working much better
Hello,
First of all, thx for the tutorial, but for no reasons, it only install me the sodium fabric and irs.jar, indium the snapshot and Distant horizon do not appear in my mod files
Can anyone help - the box where you tick off "use distant horizon" dosent appear when im opening the Iris installer.
same thing happened to me
Weirdly enough I get only 20-30 fps when using the shaders? I have a 6800XT, 2700x Ryzen and 16GB of RAM. I gave the game 10GB to use. Any ideas what could cause this because I feel like I could get more.
6800, 5800x3d, 64 GB ram, and I get about the same
@@HunkyFunkyMunky really odd, even without the shaders it's kinda spotty
@@liampope1 it also might be the amount of RAM you have but thanks for suggestion!
Every time I check the mods folder, both IRIS and Sodium are still in RAR files. Do I need to do something else?
This is the best tutorial video I have ever watched. Not 1 bit of nonsense and very easy to follow along with
Will this work on 1.20.1? Also, will it work on 1.19.4? Are there (mostly) stable versions of everything that work with both game versions?
Would love to see your take on the bobby + nvidium alternative. No shaders but full detail in rendering at extreme render distances
It would be a strong contender if it supported shaders, maybe after DH is finished its development with Iris they might move onto nvidium and Vulken mod.
Looks great! Does anyone know how this mod affects flying with an Elytra for example? I’m worried having to load so many chunks it will tank performance.
what settings would you recommend for a 3060ti, i7 11700k, and 16 gigs of ram
This no longer works, DH has been removed from iris.
I have a rayzen 9 5900x with which I would hope to be able to use the cpu setting aggressively, however when doing this the game freezes and closes. I am using the beta version for minecraft 1.20.4. Does it have to do with this or simply my cpu cannot handle this?
I can't click on "use distant horizons beta version
Install each mod manually
@@Luke-np4jg how
@@scegex6500 look in the vid what mods he has installed and install them all individually. all the mods are on modrinth
On my iris installer the DH option is there but it is not enabled. GPU incompatible? GTX 1050
how do you get just the file itself? For example, if I wanted to put it into a curseforge modpack (whenever I download from curseforge itself, it does not work with shaders)
Hello Mate, i do not have that options menu from this installation?
when i go to shaders, no shader is insallted but in the lower left corner it says, iris and fabric
EDIT: So i found out that distant horizon is not on the installer anymore and so it install only two .jar to the mod folder. ist that right, can you prove that
its crazy how easy it became to download mods for minecraft...
last time i downloaded a mod i had to delete META INF
Somehow, I can't get it to work properly. It won't load distant chunks until I have visited them directly ; and as soon as I enable Bliss, it just switch to the normal distance rendering.
I think I'll stay with Bobby + Complementary for the moment. Bliss look cool tho, especially the water, but I find it a bit too "cold" compared to Complementary , and I'm really, really missing the "show light level when holding a light source" option.
same problem
"unfortunately" only fabric?
Fabric is superior
Maybe because only fabric is supported, and not for every platform :)
I also think fabric is the best
That's actually a good point! Didn't think about him maybe meaning it this way. :O@@jasperkooij1891
It has much worse fps than optifine
Id love to see this work with 1.12.2 so I can use it with RLCraft! Looks so amazing!
Please make a tutorial on how to use this on a server!
It’s gonna be a while before that happens, the experimental version of this just released a month ago
Doesnt work anymore sadly
5:54 You are breathtaking

its working?
I really think it is one of the best mods that have been developed for this game
is anything required for the mod settings to appear near the FOV slider? or did i do the entire install incorrectly
Java applets leak memory when more than 12GB of RAM is assigned to them, just so you know, it's best to assign a maximum of 8 or maybe 10GB instead of 16, since performance can actually be worse when too much is assigned
do you have to set chunk distance in the vanilla settings to max as well?
my render doesn't go that far even when I have distant horizon on can I get a suggestion
It gives me this error when i try to load the shader
text_bg.vsh: text_bg.vsh: ERROR: 0:124: 'entityId' : undeclared identifier ERROR: 0:124: '' : compilation terminated ERROR: 2 compilation errors.
I do not have the option to install the distant horizons when I launch Iris? Any help?
Using Distant Horizons + Bliss Shader + Lossless Scaling 2.11 are absolutely incredible experience and run well on my GTX 1650 laptop LOL
Is there a way to have this for 1.19.2? Because i created a modpack for that version and this shader is the last piece which is missing for completion
