I guess a real "wise monetization" could be a rather bold choice to let players choose freely how much to spend on a certain item, could be 10 cents, could be 10 dollars, however much you feel inclined to give to CDPR. Might sound risky but I think the community would actually pay them even more this way because of their good reputation. Think of it as some kind of humble bundle pricing. Might just work.
People heard "wise monetisation" and got outraged but if you listened to the context he was saying wise referring to keeping their core values in mind.
@Dongs hell no. Surprise mechanics was just an excuse trying to slime their way past politicians. People were right to be mad at that. EA called them surprise mechanics and compared them to kinda eggs when they want to defend lootboxes but were happy to call them lootboxes when they said they weren't in their new Star wars game.
@Dongs Listen again then. It's not what they say. They say that they don't know yet how the on CP based multiplayer will be monetized. They might gonna sell it as stand-alone, they might sell it as DLC (unlikely), they might even do a subscripton service (even more unlikely). Or, just as they did with Gwent, they do a F2P spin-off with somebalanced MTX. If you try to translate their words, please do it a bit more accurate. Their English is not that complicated, even I can understand it. Not like EA that calling "surprise mechanics" while defending them but "lootboxes" while advertising they are not (yet) in "Fallen Order". But if you still believe that monetization is a dirty word, go to your boss and tell him you'll work for free from now on. Or buy a dictionairy and look up the meaning of words you don't understand.
@Dongs Good: Now translate that sentence. The out come is not the definition of "surprise mechanics". It can be just a fair subscription for the server, a fair fee for DLC or just a Gwent-like F2P with (indeed) small MTX. But it sure won't be outrage greedy lootboxes. If you stop being a wanker over that, I'll stop acting as one.
CDPR has already made a multiplayer game (Gwent). Its free-to-play and has micro-transactions, but everything can be earned in-game. I've only spent 5 dollars on a pack but collected nearly 90% of the cards by just playing the game. Their monetization was very consumer-friendly.

EXCELLENT point. In the context of the statement, 'monetisation' of the multiplayer could very simply - and I now think likely - mean that they are figuring out if and how much they will charge for the multiplayer as a DLC.
I had to call Yong out, bad pun intended, for his title covering this. i was yesterday in the liveshow in hamburg and they said that cyberpunk 2077 will be a single player only game .. .the mp part will be a different game with a different dev team from cd project re, it will come to later date . and there will be microtransaktions, that all was said by a def... i think that the mp part will be free for everyone. ( and the dev said that the Option to upgrade and personalize Vs Apartment have to be cut down because of time, so we will be able to personalize it but not in that way it was announced) (and a girl was asking for gwent if we get it again in a cyberpunk form... the dev was smiling, he said gwen wont be in there but there will be many mini games in there and even a little surprise)
Selling MP as a stand alone isn't such a bad idea. This way the developer didn't have to tamper with the game architecture when making some major overhaul to the multiplayer mode.
We should wait and see how this plays out. No need to throw them under the bus when we don't know anything about how they will monetise the multiplayer mode of CP2077. At the same time, we shouldn't blindly defend them either simply because they have a history of being a good company. Every company is good... until they're not. You only need to look at Bethesda to see how quickly a company can fall from grace.
They have enough good faith with me, that I’ll see where it goes. If the game alone is a full and solid experience , then I don’t mind giving them extra. Especially if it mean the quality and substance continues to improve.

I dont have an issue with monetization in games. Its entirely down to how its implemented. Loot boxes and games chopped up before release to sell off piece meal are rubbish. However. Stuff genuinely created and added after release. Or what I really like the idea of is the community asking for things. Then the developer creating it releasing it for a price. Example. I'd love a 'Damaged Vader' skin for Battlefront 2. And if Dice said we'll release it. It'll cost £3. I'd be fine with that as it's a little extra that a small number of gamers will want.

Might sound risky but I think the community would actually pay them even more this way because of their good reputation. Think of it as some kind of humble bundle pricing. Might just work.
CDPR and From Software are the only two developers who I think have earned the benefit of the doubt.
The Tesla memes, I can't take any more! XD
Thanks Sam, you walking out made CDPR change their mind about not adding macrotransactions in their game. 😐.... disappointed
Laymens you missed ONE IMPORTENT FACT:
The CEO said CLEARLY: You can exspect that we want change our >>>GENERAL Policy
People heard "wise monetisation" and got outraged but if you listened to the context he was saying wise referring to keeping their core values in mind.
Why listen if you can post 7 meme's in the same time?
@Dongs hell no. Surprise mechanics was just an excuse trying to slime their way past politicians.
People were right to be mad at that. EA called them surprise mechanics and compared them to kinda eggs when they want to defend lootboxes but were happy to call them lootboxes when they said they weren't in their new Star wars game.
@Dongs People should try to listen to the whole story. But it seems they just hear their own fantasy instead of whats realy said.
A multiplayer spin-off from a single player. Very simmilar situation. And done good.
No need to panic yet ;)
I just hope it doesn't affect the game, even "CoSmEtiCs OnLy" affect the game
How?
@@UncleTwoTimez micro transactions have got a lot of bad press but I don't mind 'em. I don't mind a handful of micro transactions that enhance the game after completion or something. Problem is is when games are kicked out broken and unfinished and are clearly second place to the store.

They already did by buing witcher 3 multiple times.
@@Charok1 so what ?
EXCELLENT point.
In the context of the statement, 'monetisation' of the multiplayer could very simply - and I now think likely - mean that they are figuring out if and how much they will charge for the multiplayer as a DLC.
Or maybe a subscription model like the original WOW had. I think that could be fair and work too.

I seen the title and thought; “well Yong doesn’t do click bait.” So made a comment before watching the video only to have to edit it to say that micro transactions were never mentioned. Lmfao. You two blew the fucking doors off again with the intro.
That CDPR dev lied as he was heavily intimidated by the thick, lustrous beard.
i was yesterday in the liveshow in hamburg and they said that cyberpunk 2077 will be a single player only game .. .the mp part will be a different game with a different dev team from cd project re, it will come to later date . and there will be microtransaktions, that all was said by a def... i think that the mp part will be free for everyone.
He could have also meant that they might sell the multiplayer mode as a dlc or a stand alone title...
Selling MP as a stand alone isn't such a bad idea. This way the developer didn't have to tamper with the game architecture when making some major overhaul to the multiplayer mode.
Also, "Monetizing" includes one-off purchasing for a copy as well.
Technically he did say no mtx in 2019. And it's not coming out till 2020 so... he isn't wrong.

I just wish they would come up with something better than macrotransaction currencies like dlc map packs it's not our job to fund their games
Especially if it mean the quality and substance continues to improve.

i'm okay with it as long as not implement it on single player game
Whoever edits these... Jesus. That was glorious
The sad thing is...this is what the AAA industry is breeding in people. Extreme scepticism and strong negative emotions. This entire reaction from the community expecting to be screwed are typical symptoms of an abused relationship. And so many are tired of hearing that cdpr is good so they jump on this rather hyperbolised and exaggerated "news"
I'm sad that companies that possibly still give a shit have to deal with consequences from the rest of the abusers in the industry.

Been at the SAMURAI Tour on the 24th nov in Hamburg (germany) and Devs said loud and clear
(after being asked for more information because of infos on a/their polish website):
NO microtransactions for Cyberpunk2077. Peroid!
And they said it at least twice: No microtransactions for cp2077.
They did talk about possible DLCs (also free DLCs like The Witcher had them)
Devs also mentioned, that a Cyberpunk multiplayer game would be a seperate game. Meaning a seperate IP!
Not a dlc nor expansion for CP2077!
They also showed a nice "cybertruck.exe" on screen...
I actually don't mind MTX on multiplayer games as long as it's fair, has good content and keeps the servers running and developers fed.
Probably just outfits and other cosmetics, different cars and shit for your apartment etc in multiplayer.
Would be less of an issue if they didn't constantly call out other companies for microtransactions and promise again and again "no microtransactions period"
@@GeraltofRivia22 Well for now, there are no MTX's in their single player games. And for me they're still keeping that promise. Multiplayer is completely different and might be necessary if ever they go the F2P route.

this seems similar to Last of Us multiplayer. TLOU1 was marketed completely as a single player experience, but as release approached multiplayer trailers began to drop too. That multiplayer ended up becoming a cult classic that's still played by dedicated fans today - it was quite an unique experience.
