I think the whip we see Raya use IS her sword. A sword that can turn into a whip, so it can be used for long-ranged battles too. This movie looks gorgeous and so incredibly intriguing and I honestly can't wait to see it! Great breakdown Isaac! Keep up the good work!
My favorite line is “Maybe it’s broken because you don’t trust anyone”. I mean, that just hits hard and makes you think. Definitely excited for the movie
Can you Imagine having Raya and the Last Dragon as a future Disney world in the next numbered _Kingdom Hearts_ game. Both the environment, Raya's journey finding Sisu, the Dragon Gem and Raya (as a party member for Sora) would work well with the themes found in Kingdom Hearts and having the world of Kumandra be in the Unreal Engine that they used for the CG Disney and Pixar worlds from KH3 would make it look incredible. I could see this be the most recent Disney film implemented as a world in _Kingdom Hearts IV_ similar to how Tron: Legacy was included as a world in _Dream Drop Distance_ and when Big Hero 6 was included as a world in _Kingdom Hearts III._
I totally thought that too. I feel like disney is pulling "inspiration" from all these different shows Plus Southeast Asian culture, but ofc I could be wrong.
I literally watched the trailer more than 5 times! I am so excited for this film. It looks badass from the animation, to the music, to the storyline, to the badass fight scenes! Also I’m excited that Raya looks like she’s in her mid twenties! I Love that we get to see Southeast Asian cultures being represented - *granted I do know there are some mixed reactions due to the majority of the cast isn’t SE Asian.*
@@joshuajoe1419 I thought evilness blocking the chanted forest with vegetable nature spirits in frozen II was disturbing but an entity turning people into stone?!
I think that Sisu's surprise at shapeshifting might imply that she isn't at her full strength, and that the more parts of the Dragon Gem she gets the stronger she becomes. That could also explain her flight later in the trailer as a new power she had just obtained. Maybe when she has the fully restored Gem she might appear more like the concept art we were initially shown of her.
My theory is this: (long comment ahead) When Sizu says "The kid that didn't participate as much in a group project", she's referring to herself. Before dragons were extinct, Sizu was a social outcast because she's "different" from other dragons; she can't roar, breathe fire (breathes ice), or fly (walks on ice patches). No matters what does, she can't do anything right. One day, she causes a freak accident, and the other dragons imprison her in the dragon gem as punishment. Centuries pass, Raya releases Sizu, expecting her to be the "Messiah" destined to defeat the Druun (unbeknownst to her the prophecy/myth was made up). Sizu reluctantly agrees, and along the journey, she tries to help, but seems to be holding Raya back (especially with her human antics) Eventually Raya finds the truth about Sizu and snaps. Sizu, who felt like she finally made a real friend, gets upset and says some regretful things as well. They separate, feel guilty and come back, forgive each other and defeat the Druun. OR even better the plot is completely original and doesn't use any tropes we've seen before. What do you think?
I love the way Issac talks about stuff on his channel, you can tell he’s enjoying himself, he’s so passionate and fun and happy with so much of what he does and it’s honestly wonderful
Love the breakdown details and analysis of the full length trailer of Raya and the Last Dragon, Isaac. I'm super excited on seeing this film either in Theaters or on Disney+ Premier access. Awkwafina is so going to steal the show as Sisu in this film along with Kelly Marie Tran as Raya. Even the rest of the voice cast they have for this film is impressive. Hope you have a Magical Day, Isaac. 🌠🌌
After the destruction of the Hunts clan can do magical creatures have to hide as much. After some time . we don't see much time after that . but american Dragon exist in the same universe as Lilo& Stitch witch had a sequel series taking place 16 years later the Yoko are completely open . the aliens themselves are also more open no wigs and Stitch is talking to people in complete sentences . stitch didn't speak in complete sentences with other aliens with his family.
Her whip is her sword!! It’s so cool!! You can see the sword segments on the whip. It reminds me of the weapon from the game soul caliber used by the character Ivy.
I can’t wait either. Suspense is both thrilling and tormenting if you know what I mean. I’m especially nervous to find out if the “Last Dragon” part of the movie is truly obvious or has a truly IRONIC sense to it. What I mean is if Sisu’s will return to Kumandra so she won’t be truly alone. I really hope that’s the case. What do you think?
I love how people of color are really showcased in this movie and are not turned into animals/entities for most of the movie like soul or Princess and The Frog.
And I can't wait for the movie Ryan and the last Dragon The movie looks so good I can't wait to see it I could imagine the movie with no water and with Merida from Brave and I can imagine them teaming up with Raya
I'm all for a unity message in this troubling times, specially in a kids movie, but villain redeption arcs are so hard to pull off. For every villain redemption well written I feel there are like 5 lamely written ones. That's why I think the villain in this movie should be defeated, not redeemed. The message of unity between the lands can still be portrayed while punishing the villain who might represent exactly the lack of such unity. The same way Charles Muntz represents obsessing with the past, Gastón and the Evil Queen represent internal ugliness with external beauty, Captain Hook represents adult bitterness, or Scar represents rulling selfishly, I think the villain in Raya and the Last Dragon should represent lack of unity (an anti-theme to contrast with the pro-unity message of the film) and only with her defeat her tribe will join Raya and the other tribes. That might be more realistic and satisfying in my opinion. In fact, a redemption was originally planed for Charles Muntz in Up but it was decided that a normal defeat would have been not only more realistic for his personality, but also more effective for the message: he dies as Carl's old self (and missaimed concept of real adventure) dies with him. In a similar fashion, Raya's villain could be defeated and the lack of unity represented by her dissapears with her defeat. Maybe it's because I'm also all for the old-fashioned Disney formula and good old-fashioned Disney villains.

[Dales Voice] POCKET SAND! I can definitely see a Disney Version of the dragon ball franchise, with lil Goku & Bulma performing very similar stuff that Raya is doing. Speaking of I wouldn't be surprised if they added a twist villain involving the Drune. But who knows.
One problem or issue I have with this upcoming animated film is the lack of Southeast Asian representation when it comes to the ethnicity, nationality, ancestry, descent, or lineage of the cast, as most of them are East Asians and not Southeast Asians, and being that the movie is based and or inspired from the cultures, architectures, arts, diversity and variety, and myths and legends of Southeast Asian countries.

People keep saying that she was trying to protect her brothers, but half of what they do are not dangerous much less bad because they are usually helping people and but Candace always want to ruin the fun and she mentally can't stop herself.
