On the one hand it's sad. On the other hand Ukrainians are pragmatic and I'm sure they don't think so much about the sad aspect but more about being lucky to have them. But when it was planned and built in soviet times no one would have expected that it once will be needed against a russian invasion.
Excellent video! 😀 In 2012 I spent one week in Kiyv, and of course I had to use its Metro every day. Suffering from mild claustrophobia, I can assure you that my state aggravated greatly because of that! Nevertheless, the Kiyv Metro is outstanding. The cars back then were the older model, with brown seats and more chromed parts. There was no Cellphone network, so one really felt completely disconnected from the outside world. I eagerly waited for my Station, _Kharkivska_ to come up so I could finally get out! 😬 But I will forever remember how tidy, clean and beautiful the Kiyv Metro is, the amazing steepness of its escalators, the precision of everything, the recorded announcements in Ukrainian - now English too - the crossing of the Dnipro with a quick glimpse of the _Rodina Mate_ and the _Peshersk Lavra_ and the deafening noise. I felt dread every moment, but now I miss Kiyv so much. All the best for beautiful Ukraine. Peace will return one day. 🇵🇹 ❤ 🇺🇦
@@MrGintaras is there already Cell phone network in the Kiyv Metro nowadays? GSM, Internet, both or none? I used KiyvStar while in Ukraine. Truly excellent Company, and dirt cheap. 😀

And the older they are, the nicer and more carefully finished, but also by far the noisiest. In the older cars you just cannot keep a normal conversation when they're running. This would make you deaf at the long run if you took the Metro every day. Been there.

How do you know where the train is going? I don’t see any electronic signs on the sides of the train cars that say where the train is terminating. Do tourists just get on it and hope the train goes where they want it to go?
if the train is running on an abbreviated route, this is announced via loudspeakers at stations with an audio recording, for example to a depot which is not at the end of the route
@@MrGintaras are there messages on the screens at the stations that have that information? For example: Let’s say I am going from Maidan Square to the Ukrainian National Chernobyl Museum. Google maps says I would walk to Maidan Nezalezhnosti station and take the M2 train towards Heroiv Dnipra. Would there be that information on the station? I hope that there’s information besides verbal information saying that the train is going towards Heroiv Dnipra and not towards Olimpiiska for example. If it’s only verbal information, I guess I will have to deal with it when I come to Kyiv. Also, with the Kyiv Smart Card, do you just put whatever amount of money you want on it and then touch it to the scanners and then it’s valid as long as there is money on it? Or is there another step?
@@Sam-pv7bd stations do not display information on the screen, I suggest to have a metro map on your phone, intervals of about 2-4 min The smart card can be bought at metro stations, at the ticket machine, after buying it, it is necessary to put and store it in the card reader, and put the amount of money at the rate, ideas to be left until the added amount appears on the screen and take the card. each ride costs free, there is no free transfer.

:(
it was intentionally built to be used as a shelter during soviet times, thats why they are built so deep
