Jaywalking isn't actually illegal. It's perfectly legal to cross the street where ever you please AS LONG AS it's not within 30 meters of a zebra crossing.
@@Earthrush no, it is legal but on your own volition. If you are, i think in range of a zebra crossing of 100 meters you'll get a fine. Can't remember what range but i think it was 100m. Though on your own volition and responsibility you can cross some roads. Roads like highways and motorroads would be illigal. You just have to make sure that you can cross without being a hindrince to other people in traffic.
@@rasmusbonde9280Nah it was reduced in 2015 after COP15 to 25m (it was 50m), the reason as I remember is because the police wrote out alot of tickets for jaywalking when they were actually supposed to perform security for politicians and the event, so it was reduced to avoid the same situation. I might be wrong about the reason though, but it was changed right after COP15. Now you can cross legally even in Copenhagen if you are roughly in the middle between two pedestrian crossings. Before in Copemhagen, pedestrian crossings were so plentiful that it was difficult to argue your way out of a ticket for it, now it's much easier, although it's rare to get caught doing it in my experience even if you are technically too close to the crossing.

I promise that if the police think you are to drunk to ride your bike home, and they have stopped you for that cause....they most likely are right (!) and they would have urged you to walk home because they genuinly cared for your safety. Jaywalking and drunk biking is absolutely normal in Copenhagen. I lived and studied there for many years and i can't tell you how many times i did that. Yes it's against the law. Jaywalking is legal most places so this is not correct, the rule is 25m from zebra crossing or red light. But even within the zone you stand a better chance of winning the lottery then being fined for it, police simply doesn’t care.
People don't follow traffic rules because of fines. It's part of our culture. Police will not stop any small mistake they see. They have more important things on their schedule. But we still follow the rules ( well, most of the time😊)

1500 DKK is not too much. In Poland we have 2500 PLN which is more than 4000 DKK.

Riding a bike drunk is true, it can cost you a fine but you can actually also in the worst cases (extremely over the limit) cost you your drivers license. I heard that on a danish tv show with traffic police officers

Well. I’m from copenhagen. Nørrebro to be exact. People jay walk all the time, people that ride bikes in copenhagen are straight maniacs sometimes. Especially in the morning, and doing rush hours. Accident are more common than people think. And i’ve also seen multiple people just being told to walk with the bike rather than the police issuing a fine for dui
At least it isnt a dui which causes points on your liscense and 3 to 7 year insurance hikes like in the USA namely NC... WORST DUI LAWS 😅

To all the naysayers who claim that they break all these rules all the time and are never sanctioned and are screaming "clickbaity bullshit": all of these things are illegal to do, and you've gotten off scot-free because you weren't caught. Simple as that. My friend was fined for jaywalking once. It is absolutely illegal.
Jaywalking is legal most places so this is not correct, the rule is 25m from zebra crossing or red light. But even within the zone you stand a better chance of winning the lottery then being fined for it, police simply doesn’t care.

People don't follow traffic rules because of fines. It's part of our culture. Police will not stop any small mistake they see. They have more important things on their schedule. But we still follow the rules ( well, most of the time😊)
Telling people to never ride a bike in Denmark is like telling customers to not sit on a table seat in a restaurant. I'm sorry but telling people to not ride a bike at all in Copenhagen is like telling a customer to not sit at a table in a restaurant or to not go on a ride and eat candy floss at a theme park. There is no barrier to riding a bicycle in Copenhagen whatsoever. Anyone can and should as long as they have working legs.
Yes there is a legal limit, 0,5.. after that, you are not allowed to drive cars, scooters and mopeds, or ride your bicycle.

While here in the U.K, these kind of laws to make cycling safe for road users, is a wet dream. The authorities here are too lazy to do the right thing.
Plenty of people can't ride bikes by the Lake, they bike by the "rules for thee, not for me".
