We went on harmony of the seas three years ago for my husbands 60th b day. Our sons and daughters in law gave it to him for his b day and the ship is amazing..... we had our kids and grandchildren and my goodness the best vacation ever!!!
Unfortunate but it states on the RC Covid FAQ on the website nothing hand written. It's been a major topic of discussion for weeks in all of the FB groups. Glad you were able to get on the ship.
@@EECCTravels the only consistent thing about traveling in the current environment is the ever changing policy and procedures and ultimately it’s your responsibility to keep up to date to those changes. That’s why they consistently email reminders in the days and weeks leading up to the cruise.
I would have been annoyed also but from someone working in healthcare care I understand why they wouldn't accept it. Too many times people fake notes and fake letter heads and signatures.
This should have all have been digital from the beginning (like vac cards and test results), but a certain faction of the US population fought tooth and nail to prevent the digitalization of these records. Right or wrong, this has resulted in a mishmash of hand written vac cards and every doctors office having their own covid result forms instead of a nationwide digital standard. On top of that, royal caribbean then issues rules that can be open to interpretation to the individual crew members. Better training could have probably fixed that, but that was probably difficult considering that crew members have been on and off of the medical boat for months.
@@jasongallagher3368 while I agree that some things are easy to fake, some places have used unique fonts to help make it more difficult to fake. As for the vax card it does have a lot number, and ours now have a hospital stamp similar to those sometimes used on yellow cards. I think QR codes are fairly easy to fake too, but agree that the privacy argument about digitalizing records seemed odd at best. I object to being require to have carry an electronic device to show proof of vaccination, and I’m fortunate enough to have medical record in my chart that create QR codes that I can print. The software they recommend, CommonPass doesn’t says it only can handle 2 vaccinations not 3 or more, so it needs updating too!
We had a great time on Harmony of the Seas in December, right before the masking became more strict due to Omicron. We did have a couple of hiccups but overall was my favorite cruise I have ever been on. Food was great, service was fantastic. We have a full review on our channel if anyone is interested. The shows were great too, especially Grease. I would also recommend checking prices every week or so. We got a 7 day in an inside cabin for $300 per person, it was $528 per person when we booked. So big savings can be had sometimes.
The cruise line probably has been having issues with forgeries. But they still should have notified you ahead of time regarding the printout requirements.
Exactly what I came to say. It would have been better if they tested you for free, but people are lying all the time these days. I'm just glad you made it on the ship :-)
Sorry that you had to go through that and pay $200 extra, but I'm glad that you were eventually able to get on the ship and enjoy your vacation. I'm boarding a Norwegian cruise next week and my biggest fear is testing positive at the pier. Fingers crossed!
I would suggest doing a self quarantine for like the week before leaving, keeping close to the home, no parties, maybe even avoid crowded gym hours .... that's what I would do.....I also have a credit with NCL that I have to use. Gardis in CT have a wonderful trip.
Same happened to us on the Independence. Fortunately it was a weekday. I had to call a sister Urgent care office to beg for results not handwritten. Our UCC doesnt answer their phones and only does testing. We were close needing to do the testing at the port but were saved by a fantastic man from the sister office billing department who went way out of his way to help us.
Glad you made it on! So many people involved and rules changing, hard for everyone to keep up. May have been different if you had got a different person. That ship is HUGE! Looks fun as always
Sorry to hear about the problem with the co-vid testing that is wrong on there part all over! I enjoyed the vlog! So glad to see everyone enjoying themselves! Can't wait to see everyone on our group cruise in March!!
It was great seeing the group again. Great times. Thank you Sarah, Mellisa, Jason and Alisa for putting this together and Reed for the pins and the print you gave me. Awesome memories.
The SAME thing happened to us on the Harmony in January!!! We had our test done at our rural health clinic. Some, not all, of the info on ours was handwritten. Our family of 4 was out $420 before our cruise even began to get another test from the “white van” in the parking lot. I even told the guy who was telling us they couldn’t accept it - “our COVID cards are handwritten how is it different???” It was VERY FRUSTRATING. And, we encountered several others onboard who had the same issue. Aside from that, we had a great cruise! Harmony is AMAZING!!
Carnival cruise lines test information states that hand written test results are not acceptable. I know this doesn't apply to RCCL. Have a great cruise.
We were on Harmony back in December. It was our first Royal caribbean cruise and we had an awesome time. There were a couple of hiccups but overall a fantastic time.
I have been on Harmony of the Seas and spent one of the sea days just exploring the ship and love going on the skybar which I think that is the name. Going up and down the ship drinking. Love this ship.
I went on the Oasis of the seas about 16 yrs ago, I loved it and it does take a full week to see the ship and then you don’t see all of it. Your making me so homesick to cruise.😘 just can’t afford it now. Have fun, I love watching you guys
I also can't share this to our agent group on FB and I always share all of your videos! This is information we need to know to tell other cruise clients! Love you all, Happy Cruising ❤️ ( Update : They finally approved the video for my FB page 🤷🏽♀️)
The cruise ship is huge and like a city or small town. Glad you did this vlog during the holidays. Hope your doing better Jason after your surgery. Stay safe. Cheers.!
Great video. Editing is fantastic! My first oasis ship was RCL allure of the seas. I loved it! Will be on Wonder in March and can't wait! Glad everything was straightened out in the beginning and all smiles
Same happened to us getting on the Mardi Gras on Jan 22. Did not want to accept our health unit test results. Wanted to know if we could pull it up in “our” health portal. Told her no we are talking about “Louisiana “. Offered to pay $100 each to retake the test. After another 30 minute wait they decided to let us on without talking a new test. Lol! By the way our health unit test results were readily accepted when we sailed out of Galveston last October!
In Royal Caribbean's FAQs, it's mentioned that "Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document." It's not very clear, but I can see how things like dates, type of test, etc can fall under "other required information" that needs to be printed rather than handwritten.
TH-cam just recomended this video to us and I love how well this is put together. I'll be watching more to learn from you guys. Anyways this is an azong ship and I think we are going to work at getting on one of Royals ships eventually. Absolutely beautiful ship. Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing more from you.
I am going on Harmony 3 months from today!!!! It will be my 4th Oasis class ship and the first amplified one. You will have a great time. Every time I have been on one it was at the 6400 plus range, it will be nice to see it a little less crowded.
My wife and I are about to book our first time on the harmony plus we’re taking our girls on there first cruise on the harmony. Thank you for sharing your vedio’.
I hate that the ships give the cheaply made cups with the package. The ice melts almost immediately. They don’t keep the drinks cold. As much as you pay for the drink/soda package , they should give a Yeti, or Turves cup.
That was an issue with Port Canaveral, not cruise personnel. Sailed out of PC and they would not accept our documents. Took over an hour of back and forth with Dr. Office to get a form they would accept. When we finally got inside and up to the Cruise Line personnel for check in, they looked at the original documents we presented to port personnel and said yes the original docs were perfectly acceptable.
I wish I would have made it on that group cruise, but when I had another free cruise for 14 days at the same time I could not pass that up! I will say, I do not like the rounded edges on the bed. When we reconfigured our room in Brilliance, my pillow would always fall through the gap between the bed and wall, haha. I am also surprised y'all did not break the carousel! Cannot wait to see more and also join you on Pano in a few weeks :)
We loved Harmony- our cabin was was on the Central Park level and it’s the best. The perfect pass through between forward and aft-oh, and Park Cafe right there!
"small city on the sea" - yep! Our town has population 3000 Premium drink package includes specialty coffee at RC coffee shop. (You guys probably know that, I just want your viewers to know) Is this cruise pre or post shoulder surgery?
We don't need no stinkin Sailaway party on RCCL, we make our own kinda fun!!!!!!!!!! LOL Ya'll, I am so having withdrawal watching you two have so much fun, last cruise was last September on Symphony....so ready for our Adventure cruise next month......
Mega ship - what a pain in the drain about the test written by hand, not the way you want to start your vacay! I’m heading on transatlantic on the Emerald Princess on April 16 - looking so forward, just got of NCL Pearl, will never cruise NCL again! Love the vid!!!
Your scare was my nightmare. We were unable to get a test prior to flying to Miami, so we paid for the test at the port. All was good until the wife's test came back postive. She had no symptoms and showed no signs of being sick (tested negative the next morning). We completely understood not being able to get on the ship. Did make for a very interesting weekend. Rescheduled in may with the kids.
Hey Mimi if you don’t want to be vaxxed and agree to adhere to the CDC terms placed upon the cruise industry in order to operate within US ports. Simply don’t cruise.
WoW! I can’t get over how huge this ship is!! One of my favorite cruises was the SS Independence out of Oahu with 350 passengers! Ships have sure come a long way! The zip lining looked so fun!
It is on the website here is the excerpt You must receive a valid results document from your test provider that includes the name of the lab that processed the test, the lab’s CLIA Lab Number or Certification Number, the address of the lab, your name, the date the test was taken, type of test, and your negative result. This can be a printed document, email, or telehealth app notification. Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document.
Sorry about your headache in boarding 😞. Hopefully I can board successfully later in the year. Sailed on the Oasis a few years ago. Beautiful ship but wasn't impressed. A lot of clubs and music venues were closed later into the night. Too many kid oriented activities( parades blocking up the Promenade) and I felt like it was crowded everywhere. I prefer NCL. Glad you enjoyed it. Different strokes for different folks.
Awesome stuff, with the exception of the boarding process due to letter. Thanks so much for sharing!! Cant wait to see yall in January 2023 if not before!!
It actually does say it in the rules: (copied from the website) You must receive a valid results document from your test provider that includes the name of the lab that processed the test, the lab’s CLIA Lab Number or Certification Number, the address of the lab, your name, the date the test was taken, type of test, and your negative result. This can be a printed document, email, or telehealth app notification. Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document. It sounds like your document was more than "minimal" ie: more than check marks. With this information I would have made sure to have it in digital form....
Exactly the same thing happened to us getting on the Mardi Gras after our Louisiana Department of Health handwritten covid test results we're denied for the exact same reason. They let us on after I made a huge deal about handwritten test results not being allowed not being stated anywhere in the information they provide. It has since been updated. But it pisses me off too! I'm not paying hundred for a test when I can go to my parish health unit, that my tax dollars pay for and get a free test.
We had the same problem. $210 dollars later, we enjoyed our cruise, but it will be a long time before we sail RCL again. It's a bummer, because RCL has great ships and we loved our cruise,
That's why it's stress-free to just pay that $100 and get it over with it....I was having a hard time getting a scheduled test a couple weeks ago so why fret and worry and just pay and have fun
I'm so glad I found this channel. Absolutely have no idea about the handwritten test. It's so important to know. I would have freaked out. Thank you dears
Thanks fir this info. I will be canceling my Harmony of the Seas cruise scheduled for may first thing Monday morning. Im so over the COVID BS runarounds.
It’s too bad, but, I believe the reason you didn’t get any official SailAway party is due to Covid. I’ve been on plenty of Royal Caribbean cruises over the years. Prior to Covid they always had a rocking good time, SailAway party on the pool deck. With all the expected entertainment, line dancing, live music and an address from the cruise director. I pray they can return to it someday!
And that ship has a Starbucks.my favorite coffee. We’re still not sure yet what state room we want.it’s going to be one of those balcony’s We my wife and I just sailed on the Mardi Gras in January. We sailed on royal 17 years ago. A small ship. this will be our third cruise and second cruise on a royal Caribbean. So my wife and I can’t wait plus we’re taking our girls on there first cruise
Actually, it DOES state in the protocols that handwritten results are not allowed. Here is what it says on their eebsite: Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document.
Our cruise was in December and they have changed it since then. And ours was not a doctor’s note. It was on official State of Louisiana letterhead and had all of the required info. Our name and results were written in. It should have been accepted.
@EECC Travels it has been this way since the beginning. We sailed in June, October & December and it was on their website all of those times. Only a couple of things are allowed to be handwritten. A check mark in a box; a signature from the health provider, etc. Everything else MUST be printed. I saw it on the website from the beginning and our TA confirmed it
Straight off RCCL's website - "You must receive a valid results document from your test provider that includes the name of the lab that processed the test, the lab’s CLIA Lab Number or Certification Number, the address of the lab, your name, the date the test was taken, type of test, and your negative result. This can be a printed document, email, or telehealth app notification. Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document. "
What was your sail date? I just got off the Harmony this morning. I gave Royal another chance after a bad experience a few years ago and I’m glad I did. They’ve improved their service so much. Their ships are incomparable as is their entertainment. They need to step up their karaoke game, though! They don’t have enough songs and they need better microphones. I was in a contest in the On Air bar which was fun even though I lost.
Not a fan of the large ship. Went on Oasis and just didn’t feel like I was on a cruise. It was beautiful but prefer smaller ships. Freedom of the seas is our favorite royal class ship. We like Royal but nothing like a Carnival sail away lol
Great episode. I expect Royal will take care of that check in issue. Looked like you had a wonderful day there after. We LOVE the oasis class. Our next is Wonder inaugural! Can’t wait!!
I didn’t know they had any testing available at the port (since everyone seems to be doing the proctored self testing)! Thank goodness they had that there for you even though you had to pay.
How exciting!! Didn’t know you guys cruised on this ship! Been watching tons of Oasis of the Seas videos because we’re cruising our very first time in August. This ship looks very similar just a bit more classy in your room. I’ll be watching this video over and over for sure!! Sorry about being initially denied entrance. That’s definitely a tense moment!!
Great video!!! Did you all book your beverage packages onboard or online? How much did they come to? Also, how was RC with masking requirements? We are set to sail in August, so I know a lot may potentially change from now till then.

This has been updated, it did not say this in December when we sailed.
I would’ve been very annoyed too!! Glad it worked out
Your coverage is fantastic, gotta share this with my travel buddies.
That would have totally stressed me out!!! Not a way to start vacation! You're on my favorite ship...so far. 39 days until Wonder of the Seas!!! 🛳👍🏽😁
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Glad I have been getting one with an email digital certificate. It’s only £39 (about $51).
I feel your stress. Have an amazing time!!!!!
Oh gosh, don’t do that!! It was a PITA but we had a fabulous cruise!!
This cruise was our 1st one since February 2019. It was a blast hanging with our travel family.
Love you guys!!
Nice to meet you guys on the cruise!!
We're just on Harmony and February it was a ball and severely under booked which was awesome :-)
Here is what it says on their eebsite:
Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document.
I saw it on the website from the beginning and our TA confirmed it
So sorry about the test results, but glad you had a great cruise. 👍
What software do you use for your videos
What are your dates you are sailing in Nov 2023 on the Carnival Jubilee out of Galveston?
Our son and DIL are on this sailing. Hope they don’t have the same issue and make it on board…🤞🏻
This was December 5th. Other than the boarding fiasco we had a wonderful cruise!!
Cruising Harmony in August. Aft 14718. Kinda wanted to be away from the drunken elevator noise at night. Good choice?
Thanks for the info. Going on the Harmony soon. :)
OMG! Rewatching some of your videos and I just noticed Royal has Guinness?!
I was so sad when Carnival got rid of Guinness...
Btw, this is Reneé 😆
So glad you made it on! It wouldn’t have been the same without you 😜
We were getting on that ship no matter what!!
Love Trellis Bar
And our nights were spent in the jazz club
Great video!!! Did you all book your beverage packages onboard or online? How much did they come to? Also, how was RC with masking requirements?
We are set to sail in August, so I know a lot may potentially change from now till then.
I love watching you guys. You have so much fun!
Becareful jason...have a great time

This cruise was in December and at that time nothing was posted about hand written results.
Was there more engine noise in your aft room? I've been reluctant to book one b/c i was worried about noise or engine reverberations. How was it?
You have to carry those cups around all day? Was the Windjammer open for dinner?
You don’t have to but It’s good to have if you drink a lot of soda ect…
Was on that ship December 2019 had a wonderful time
I found this on the FAQ's on royal's website because we are getting ready to go in April. "Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document."
Ours was not a doctor’s note, it was from a state run testing facility. The RCCL staff said it should have been accepted.
Love, love your video 🥰
So enjoyable
Hey Jason, where in Louisiana are you guys from? I grew up in Baton Rouge and now live in south Florida!
Keep up the great work! 🙏🙏🙏
Alexandria! I know you know where that’s at?! Lol
