I've been looking for something like this. What is it called? Is it flexible to bend? My gutter are abit more oval type.

The issue being that the debris removed from those gutters was tiny pines that are just going to go through those gutter guard grates, so it hasn't solved the problem. They'll now need to remove the gutter guard every time they need to clean the gutters which will still block. This guard is only going to work for broader leaves.

Yes, you are correct. I removed these a few years back and just clean the gutters periodically now 👍

Hi UH,Another great vid, I don't have a problem with leaves, more just the amount of sand that comes off the surface of my concrete tiles! it sits in the gutters and just builds up. If anyone knows anything that will stop this building up (other than a bi-monthly cleaning) then I would be grateful. I reckon the roofing contracters used some cheap tiles. Cheers U.H.

    Hi Chez
It would appear that the Hedgehog gutter guards are the preferred method by many . I need to protect my gutters as we had a blocked downpipe recently, which had the condenser pipe from our boiler inserted. The downpipe blocked and the rainwater came back up the condenser pipe and flooded the house. Our plumber told me that this is standard practice and not incorrect. I think I will install the hedgehog gutter guard but is it secured in place or is it simply laid into the gutter. I am just concerned that a strong wind could remove it. I appreciate your reply.

Hi Cliff, I have had hedgehog gutter guards and also the gutter guards shown in this video and to be honest the Hedgehog type are much better and do a much better job. At my house they are just pushed into the gutter, once in there is no chance of the wind blowing them out but it does depend on the overhang of the roof etc. You can of course put some cable ties around the gutter to hold them in if required.

Thanks for your reply. The cable ties sound like a perfect idea, thanks again.

Just add a FloPlast Balloon Leaf Guard to the down pipe to prevent leaves getting in. I think gutter guards are overrated because they make it easier for moss to fall off from the roof onto them, increasing further moss and weed growth on top. Without, the debris falls into the gutter and very slowly builds up over the years without impeding water flow.

Have to agree with GCP I clear gutters for a living using a vacuum not the old hand method and this type of guard is a nightmare when weeds have grown and lock onto the grid, Genuine hedgehog gutter brush is the only solution

I have to agree, it's now over 12 months since I installed these and the hedgehog brushes in other gutters. On some of the gutters where these were used there are weeds and tree's growing but where the hedgehogs were used they are clear apart from the odd rotting leaf. The hedgehog's are a piece of cake to clean as well, just rip it out on a dry day and give it a brush and then put it back.
      Thanks for the comment ;-)

it's pointless since you must clean them anyway and remove to clean gutters as moss and smaller debris will still go trough. waste of money.
