Nachiketa Yakkundi sings a Basavanna Vachana tuned by his guru, Pt. Basavraj Rajguru, in Raga Bhairavi.
Accompanied by Satish Tare on tabla, Manoj Tamhankar on harmonium, Abhijit Jere on taal.

Sri Nachiketa Yakkundi has the advantage of singing with two lungs, his guru did not have that advantage. He lost one lung to a chest injury while escaping from Lahore to Delhi during partition. A large trunk fell on him and a fractured rib pierced his lung. And the the doctor a music crazed guy removed the lung as a life saving measuring. Probably the doc knew that Pandit Rajaguru would still continue to sing and enthrall us. He lived well into his 70s. Must say thank you to the doc.

Dear Sir, this is a perfect blend of literature and music. Who says vachanas were not written for singing? 32 ragas were very popular in 12th century, I think. Please upload more vachanas set to music.

Shreeshailji there is in fact a vachana that starts as “Batteesa raagava haadee...” and sung Pandit Rajguru himself.
