Done hating on Ian, seems like genuinely good guy despite some cringe. A true fighter who isn't trying to duck anyone even on short notice. He'll be fighting for the belt in time.
He'd be way more liked if was just himself instead of trying to be what you get when you order a conor mcgregor on a website that was advertized on the pirate bay
Yeah I don’t see his angle. It wasn’t a robbery. He clearly lost. Did he do better than some expected? Yes, the average hater who doesn’t recognize his abilities. But anyone who knew mma recognized it’d be a good fight. At the end of the day the dude got beat by a better opponent.
I couldn't agree with Ian more. He made a good showing of his skills and grappled really well against Shavkat. He earned as many fans in this fight as he has in any of his wins. He ascended from hype train to future contender. Short of a win, this was the best case scenario for Ian. He clearly has work to do but he is going to be a problem for a lot of guys that until this fight thought they could out wrestle Ian. But unless you're Shavkat level or better, you're in for a rough go.
@ he’s young he still has a lot to learn but that was a great performance against the most dangerous man in the division. He’ll be back wether you like it or not man
The fact he faced an undefeated beast in 3 weeks notice and literally could have won shows how good he really is. That was a close fight. Give him a full camp and he probably would’ve finished shavkat.
He was literally in camp for Buckley the only difference was the style. Regardless, Ian showed that he’s really good and has great potential to be a future champ
Not only was he already in a camp, shavkat having to adjust to Ian garrys style is just as much of a disadvantage. Ian garrys good but I hate the way he’s spinning it as if he got robbed. He clearly lost
Studying your opponent is a big part of fighting. Both went in not knowing each other’s fighting style and reads, which could be why there was not too much activity. More cautious tactics on both sides.
There’s a lot of holes in Ian’s game if he can’t see it hopefully the coaches do because even if u think ur good u can always improve plus he needs to improve his skills tremendously to be champion
@tylervolkman1469 That's where you are wrong, buddy. As many have stated, Ian was supposed to have fought Buckley next week, so he was preparing for a fight. In the same way, he had to make adjustments in training to prepare for a new guy in Shavkat. Shavkat also had to make adjustments in his camp from preparing for Belal, to preparing for Ian Garry, a completely different style.
He fought well but feeling like a winner in a loss, instead of being upset because you were close but couldn’t finish it doesn’t sound like a real competitor . Real competitors are their biggest critic not biggest fan
Never settle for 2nd best THATS NOT EXACTLY THE MENTALITY OF A CHAMP just saying I would NEVER be satisfied with an L No matter what the circumstances It would just eat me up inside, if I'm being honest
To be fair Ian didn't stop all Shavkat's takedowns. Similarly he didn't dodge/block all of Shavkat's strikes. I mean Ian's face tells a different story 😅
The other guy is a top 3 contender and 18 0 happens to the best of them. He's young and talented and will bounce back having a perfect 0 record no doubt is amazing but it hapens
Ian won...that was poor decision...shav had couple of good strikes...ian had takedowns, sub attemps pressure,an some good striking an dominate positions
He so full of himself like conor was once Conor was double champ. This dude isnt even intern champ and acting like hes the greatest with the absolute most potential 😂😂😂😂😂
well damn, he can fight, hard to like the guy though due to his tiny head and giant mouth, I thought he won..but I wasn't judging, far better defense than I thought he had, maybe paddy can put on a similar performance and prove people wrong?

Terrific fan winning interview. Garry is still fighting even in the presser. He's buzzing. Amazing performance.

Respect!!! Good fight. This guy is intelligent. When Shavkat tried to wrestling Ian just lean on his hands making him tried.
One lose and somehow it erases all he has done and said. Still continuing with the humbleness we all see.
He’s not saying he thinks he won. He’s saying he’s proud of how he did against Shavkat. So it’s a win in his mentality.
To be honest I used to hate him but this is a beautiful side of Ian, was glad he lost but this is something admirable
Hate him ?

Ian is a good fighter, but what he is saying is funny. "I don't feel like I lost"? Just look at his and Shavkat's post-fight faces. That tells it all.
No if we go by post fight faces then Paddy really did beat Jared Gordon. That doesn't tell the whole story
