    I couldn't agree with Ian more. He made a good showing of his skills and grappled really well against Shavkat. He earned as many fans in this fight as he has in any of his wins. He ascended from hype train to future contender. Short of a win, this was the best case scenario for Ian. He clearly has work to do but he is going to be a problem for a lot of guys that until this fight thought they could out wrestle Ian. But unless you're Shavkat level or better, you're in for a rough go.

    The fact he faced an undefeated beast in 3 weeks notice and literally could have won shows how good he really is. That was a close fight. Give him a full camp and he probably would’ve finished shavkat.

    Studying your opponent is a big part of fighting. Both went in not knowing each other’s fighting style and reads, which could be why there was not too much activity. More cautious tactics on both sides.

In the same way, he had to make adjustments in training to prepare for a new guy in Shavkat. Shavkat also had to make adjustments in his camp from preparing for Belal, to preparing for Ian Garry, a completely different style.
