Plus Op Amp Distortion Demo

The M#R Distortion Plu$ the Distortion pedal that set the tone for 70s and 80s rock ... love it or hate it, there's no denying its a stone cold classic.
However, there are some things that could be improved about this circuit and its current production version. The gain control gets very bassy as its turned down so ive sorted that. Maxed out the high treble can be ... well .... nasty, so ive sorted that too. If you want the bassy'ness then the toggle switch can bring it all back in the up position - down gives you classic D plus tones - in the centre is lower gain and lower bass which suits humbuckers perfectly, if 'runaway train' gain is not quite your jam.
Vintage Mil Spec Motorola metal can op amps and Hughes OC47 germanium diodes take care of the distortion beautifully, with plenty of edge, without the string noise, but all the pick attack.
Built in my tour grade style, the construction will take all the road miles you can throw at it and come back for more.

Nicee! I've had a bunch of 741's laying around for a while and never had any use for them, then I came across an old DOD 250 schematic which used them sometimes (whenever they had them). Pretty much the same circuit with a couple different values. I have it breadboarded with 1n4184's (all I had on hand). Awesome circuit with great clean up but piercing when gain is maxed. Definitely will be my next build when i finish my green ringer. Love your work brotha! Keep em' coming! 😁
