    Here we are taking a look at my new favorite planted aquarium light the ASTA 120. The light on this thing is INSANE!! I hope you really enjoyed this video and if you did please leave a like and comment down below.

    Unfortunately it looks like these lights are no longer available, they have been replaced by the manufacturer with something of much lower quality, that no longer uses a COB LED. It was claimed to be an upgrade by the contact person because it happens to include a dimmer, like the Asta 120. However, it is not remotely the same product anymore. The light quality has a CRI of 50 at most, definitely not a Full Spectrum product anymore. Be warned! I am still trying to find out if this is just a scam, or if there is anywhere to get the original product, but they have not updated the product pages on Amazon either in the US or in Canada where I am located (and I know people who have recently purchased from the US which are getting the same low quality lights). The product info and ratings are no longer applicable. I have left a 1 star review showing the previous versions and the new "Upgraded" version as the manufacturer put it.

      Hey this is a long shot, but did you ever find out if they have gone back to their original formula? Have you found a suitable replacement if not? Thanks!

    • @JohnPSantos

      @@deeteeohbee6794 they are simply not manufacturing them anymore. This company just throws together whatever cheapest shite they find in the warehouses in China and sell them under the same model names. Their Amazon product descriptions are out of date, nothing uses COB LEDs anymore.

      @@deeteeohbee6794 honestly I just went with Hiro Aquatics lights and never looked back. They don't look as blindingly bright, the colours on the plants are amazing and they have better PAR values. Worth it. Latest versions are all dimmable and have built in timers if you want to use them.

      @@DukeCityAquariums "In the wrong hobby"?! With all due respect, guys like you are the reason the hobby remains niche. You want to hot rod your tank? Fine. Spend all the money you want and get all the bells and whistles, sleek design, etc. But the aquarium hobby isn't only for people who are willing to spend literally hundreds or even thousands of dollars on something as simple as their lighting; You're not making a hollywood movie ffs, you're lighting a fish tank. And if you what to talk "best budget aquarium light" in general, there are alternatives that are just as bright as this thing for a third the cost. You want to dim it a little? Cover it with a freaking film or something, be creative. You're just so used to being price gouged for bells and whistles, you just assume that's how it has to be, so you guys just keep overpaying.

    Hi but I know this is out of the blue but I was wondering how the light was doing with the 18g betta aquarium. Thinking of getting one for my brand new tank for my betta fish Jasper. I was planning on doing with diy co2 as well. I was wondering is it bright enough does it grow algae, does it grow plants well, your overview of it etc. Keep on inspiring and the good work!!! Hope you have time to read this/ thanks for reading this

    I am looking at these for a reef tank but the reef version of course. I read a lot of people saying they overheated and then quit on them, so then I was reading reviews on kessil and people saying the same thing then I read a review of somone saying that every month you need to get that spray duster to clean them with so I guess thats the key to longevity for these lights. I may order them after I read that because I really like them. just wish I could find more youtubes of the reef ones to see how they light up the tank and if they give the corals a lot of color pop! My daughter Jenna likes your tats and think you are hot! haha. She has a friend in Albuquerque btw..lol. She may come down and see her soon!

    • @DukeCityAquariums
      @DukeCityAquariums  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well tell Jenna I said thank you lol...for a reef tank I would really recommend spending a few extra bucks for an AI Prime hd..that's what I run on my 38 gallon reef tank and they are awesome

      @@DukeCityAquariums Well, I want something stronger than 50 watts though because I am going to upgrade soon to a 120 gallon so I wanted something at least 80 or 100 watts and when I do upgrade I iwll just add more of them. I think I like radion more than prime or hydra, and as far as the 100 watt ones the ai is only 55 less, so for that I iwould defietly go with the new gen 5 radions! The spread is so much better and i like the mounts way better as well. My tank crashed about a month ago and I lost about 18 corals but mostly frags, so I plan on spending a lot of money coming up to replace all those corals so now I have to be a cheap skate when it comes to lighting...for now anyway! I just went to the website for lumine and the 120 saltwater says its 429.00 on their website.. very strange! Its only 129.00 on amazon and its coming from them! I also found out they want another 120.00 for the controller or whatever you call it, that allows you to program it! Having second thoughts. I can get slightly used gen 4 radions cheaper than buying this brand with the controller and who knows about the reliability! One thing I like is they said its basically plug and play and if it breaks they can tell you what is wrong with it since there are only a few parts and they will send it to you and instruct you on putting it back together. Parts are pretty cheap to! I am so confused! LOL. I been trying to decide on a light for weeks. I can get a slightly used ocean revive for 80 bucks too! I also like the noopsyche, and the newer hipagaro 85 watts uses cree leds like AI does for the primes. , jbj sl something has one on clearance for 129.00 0n amazon or marineandreef.com it is the type that covers the whole light and has legs. Thinging of a used geizeman aurora for 400.00 thats a crazy expensive t5/led hybrid. I am going to have to draw names out of a hat soon. I am sure there are some I am leaving out too. Oh yeah, used kessils 360 we and 700

      I noticed that to from overheating I bet beacuse I was reading the same on kessils and kessils in reefkeeping is like peanut butter with jelly! I read someone say on a kessil review that you have to buy the spray duster and dust them once a month or that can happen. Think that stuffs expensive though so adds another cost and reef keeping will send you to the poor house real quick if ya dont watch it!
