    I recently inherited a 10 ft Fischer jon boat from my dad's estate that I have been thinking of doing something exactly like this to. Great video. Good to see that others are out there with the same idea.

    Just make them half moon shaped 180° round then that don't matter what angle it is you still have your fluency, pretend you got a 6-in piece of pipe and cut it length wise into it whatever length you want to make them you would have a flat side and a convex side either make them flat on the front and back or just flat on the back and a 40 50 60 degree on the front, keep up the good work dude I enjoy your videos

    Back in the 1980s, I made a pair of floats for a 16' jon that I had... Each was 6' long by 8"x12"... Flush with the transom going forward to the 3' point and from that point to zero at 6'.... All I used was 2" foam board insulation laminated together, and I used construction adhesive to glue them to the boat... The boat was in the river all year like that and were pretty beat up by fall, but I had plans to make another set and fiberglass them and use a sort of keyhole slot system for removing them to clear the trailer rollers and fenders... My brother an I were both right at 200 lbs. each, and those floats allowed us to stand next to each other on any corner of that boat... Pretty much acted like my friend's 20' jon that measured 5' across the bottom, only much lighter.... With mine, nothing protruded back past the transom at all.. The plan was to be able to snap them on and snap them off as you wanted... I'm confident that even with today's insane prices, I could make a set for less than $225-$250... Very, very stable...

    Great video! I was wondering how much support does adding these mounts add and why would it only need to be in the back section? The bottom of my boat is about 38 or 39 inches i believe. I want to put a deck on it but cannot put as high as I want due to the stability it has right now..I also thought about putting the pvc pontoons on the side but these float pods look a hell of a lot better! Btw I am also in GA and could always meet up to show you my boat to see if you think it would be worth doing this

    Shouldn’t the angled part on the front be facing down so it doesn’t want to dig while turning or at low speed?

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is. If your talking about tge point it contacts the boat, it's a compound angle. To get it to angle down as the hull angles in, it would create a drastic angle on the pod and significantly increase the length. Another reason these never went into full production.

  • @feellnfroggy
    @feellnfroggy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, a single strip of aluminum along the hull side of the pod to mount with correct angle, and it would just be spaced from the boat, and flow through design between pod and boat. Use 2 inch strip of aluminum, customer cuts to order.

    All you had to do is make pontoons that fold out from the back to the sides like those Wheels you had you can have them adjustments on the poles and you could Mount I'm just about anywhere you can have them attached to the rail and then fold in side of the boat when you're not using it and then when they're using it you can flip them out I want every water level that you need and then latching and place

  • @johnmueller155

    If you have a 10 foot boat for what they want to charge you can buy another 10 foot boat find away to take 2 boats on your trailer then get to the lake attach the two together make up some prefab stuff that you can unhook you have a nice stable fishing platform he would have to be around $125 to make that work

  • @MrJigginjim
    @MrJigginjim 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a hunter and Fishermen the pod idea is great, BUT I would angle the forward part of the pods back and in. This will deflect the where spray down. Imagine taking the first set, flipping them over. That bottom front angle is killing the speed.
    You could also have the rear third below the bottom, giving the boat better cornering, Less side slippage.
    I did a little racing with boats also.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. As you saw in video, these were designed in one state, made in another, then shipped to me. In renderings I thought the angle was less dramatic and combining it with the side of boat angle would actually make for a more straight up and down angle. If it killed speed too bad I would have redesigned. It wasn't significant enough in my opinion. At end of day this is a glorified kayak not a race boat. Fine tuning can be done for sure. This was our first attempt. If we do it again, it will be better. Just trying something new.
