A recap of the night before and pre-op for my aortic valve replacement surgery. I'm sure there are things I missed along the way, but this is my experience as I remember.
39 years old. 4.94 aortic aneurysm and moderate/severe insufficiency. Having CT coronary angiography next month. Cardiologist says he plans to delay surgery till 5.5 cm cause valve functions as bicuspid but anatomically is tricuspid, surgeon thinks it's time. I dunno who to listen to. In a month from now when I'm done with the CT coronary angiography the desicion will be made. I am super anxious and in fear. I think of it 24/7. Whenever i feel a weird sensation on the upper torso, cause of the aneurysm, im scared of eruption.
I can relate to the fear. Trust the doctors and go with the advice you feel most confident in. I also bet some of the weird sensation you feel is caused by being anxious and focused on it. Hope all goes well!
I had a severely dilated root that needed to be replaced and I wanted to have a mechanical valve to lower the chances of having to do another procedure down the road.
I don't remember exactly what I mentioned in the video, but I was having general fatigue (daily naps and lower stamina working out) and a little tightness in the chest while running. Nothing major
Thank you for the response. It started last year at this time not feeling well, fatigue, shortness of breath, mild edema , palpitations. No elevated BP though. Drove my self to the hospital. They said I had a mini heart attack, I was like excuse me ? I’ve never had heart issues before and I’m in the medical field, the EKG showed abnormal RBBB had an angiogram done at the hospital finding if mild mitral valve regurgitation and trace tricuspid valve regurgitation. Found a cardiologist 1 month later Now This month 1 yr old Check up again and it showed I had a 3.6 cm dilation of ascending aorta/root. Symptoms flutters, PVC’s and VT’s That cause it hard to breathe, on meds now to make it a little easier for me. Extreme fatigue Now on a CPAP at night and 2 L of 02 at night I don’t know what’s going to happen but I don’t want to die at 45 yrs of age
That's definitely a lot to deal with in a short amount of time. Just keep your doctor informed about your symptoms. Lots of great surgeons out there and great outcomes. I hope all goes well for you.

40 years old and having surgery in one week. I’ve spent the day watching your videos. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your story

I had valve surgery on 29-Sep-23 at Cleveland Hospital Abu Dhabi, UAE 🇦🇪, replaced my leaked valve with metallic valve

Why didn't you go TAVR as it makes recovery faster and almost painfree

@ashwin6218 It was the Surgeon's decision to go for bentall procedure, as it was metallic Valve.

Did you have any calcification they had to remove?
I didn't, just a leaky enlarged valve.
What grade regurgitation did you have?
I was moderate/severe with the last couple of years slowly getting worse.
What were your symptoms you were talking about pre-op ?
