  • If Lori Can Do It, So Can You!
Step by Step Explanation on How to Change Out the Daytime Running Lamp to a 2008 Acura MDX.
*Make sure the autoparts place gives you the correct bulb.
The first time I went, they gave me the fog light bulb. The fog lights have a gray silver tip on the top of the bulb to make it not bright. Also the prongs inside the bulb that connects to the plug are close together. Whereas the DRL bulb is completely clear and the prongs are wider.
    You Will Need:
    1. The Daytime Running Light Bulb for your specific vehicle.
I bought mine from Auto Zone
    2. Two Flathead Screw Drivers
    Size 1/4 and 3/16
    3. Yoga Mat
    Steps:
    1. Set up your workstation
Tip: Use a thick yoga mat
    2. Remove the 3 Plastic Bolts from underneath the bumper.
Use smaller flathead screwdriver to pull the switch down and bigger flathead screwdriver to aid in removal of bolt
    3. Remove Side screw using smaller flathead screwdriver
    4. Open side to access lightbulbs.
    5. Remove Daytime Running Light Connector
Tip: the Daytime Running light bulb will be the furthest from you
Tip: To remove, turn attachment LEFT or UPWARDS
    6. Remove old light bulb
    7. Replace with the new light bulb
The light bulb will only fit one way.
    8. Return the DRL light to where you removed it from by turning the connector to the RIGHT OR DOWNWARDS to lock it in place
    9. Check to make sure the bulb is working by turning the car on and to see if the DRL Alert is still on.
If there is no longer an alert and the light is on, YOU DID IT! Great Job!
    10. Put everything back together.
I hope this inspires and empowers you to tackle your own projects!
*** Autozone also offered to put in my DRL lamp in for free after I purchased it. So, if you do not have time, see if they maybe able to do it for you! 🥰
Please support my channel by subscribing and clicking that like button. Also, leave a comment down below. I admit, I am no mechanic. I had to look up most of the information. I am sorry if I mislabeled the screw sizes or called the parts of the vehicle inaccurately. 😅

Great job my dear! You don’t need to remove the plastic fasteners under bumper. You can just remove screw in tire well and under corner well. You can gain a little more space if you turn the wheel in as well. Also avoid placing fingers on bulbs, it can affect life of bulb an even cause it to shatter. Overall you did a great job!

Thank you for this great tutorial. What really helped me was the camera angle where you showed the backside of the light socket because it was really hard for me to see and I wasn't sure if it was the kind you twist or pull out. This clarified it.

Well, I have every to complete the task, except for a yoga mat.... Honestly, Lori, this is an excellent tutorial! some others would have you removing the whole front bumper...

Very good process. I would recommend that you turn the wheel to the left ( or right) depending on what side you are working on , but I found it much easier to remove the wheel and pull the plastic wheel well liner back to gain much more access. But again, I liked your video. It made a great start for me

This is an excellent how to. Thank you!
I was able to replace the DRL on my new 08 in 10 minutes. Used my new cargo mat.
The fastener in the wheel well on mine has a Phillips head, and there is a 10mm bolt at the end of the bumper. But everything worked just the way you presented. Got all the plastic fasteners out without destroying them.
I did the wrong side, for some reason. But the second time round took 5 minutes.
One thing, though...using left and right is confusing, because that changes on each side of the car and whether you're in front or behind the bumper. Sorry to mansplain.
For me the running lights are the inside lights, and I turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove and clockwise to install.

Thank you for the comment lol and mansplain away☺️ Definitely will consider that for future videos. Perhaps I should say right or left pertaining to the image in the video.

I would recommend putting the new light bulb on with gloves so oils from your hands don’t get on the bulb

Yeah, it doesn't take much oil's from your skin or any other contaminants to greatly reduce the life of your bulb. It gets very hot under normal operating conditions, and oils or contaminants on the surface of the bulb will cause it to heat up more than the normal operating temperature since it will trap the heat and keep it from dissipating from the bulb. This is what reduces the life of your bulb. I used to wonder why my bulbs were burning out so fast when I was younger and worked on my own car. 😄

What if you had (started the engine and ) turned the front wheels all the way to the left ?
Wouldn't that have given you a little more room to get your hand in there ?

Why did you remove the fasteners from the front when you accesses the light from the wheel well?

    • @loricando274
      @loricando274  2 ปีที่แล้ว

They were all attached together. I just found it easier for me to get to the light. I am not a professional and tried to make this easy for most people to do. If you know of a betterway. Please share 😍

What happens if you replace the bulb and the alert of the dash is still there?

    • @loricando274
      @loricando274  ปีที่แล้ว

That is a great question. Unfortunately, I do not have an answer, only a hypothesis. If the bulb is working, but the dash alert is still there, perhaps there is still a problem with the sensor that creates the dash alert? I would get a diagnostic.

Next time please don’t touch the glass with your bare hands, it leaves oil from your fingers and bulb burns down prematurely. Otherwise I applaud your diy
