This is the 1976 Inter-Dominion grand final from Adelaide's Globe Derby Park.Here we see Chris Lewis in the sulky behind Carlcew,as they hold on to beat the flying Pure Steel (Fred Kersley-Jnr).

Image Pure Steel running in this race - a number of good handy horses but certainly none of Pure Steel’s calibre- you can only imagine his winning distance if he had not been in on the fence . That was trotting though , the drivers had to have their wits about them , and then somebody came up with a lane providing for an inside run and took the leader’s advantage away .
