Hey Myke, since you're on your nu-metal spree, I recommend to check out Korn's self-titled debut. It's often credited with starting the whole scene in fact, but IMO it's considerably more sinister and dark than other "classic" nu-metal records and even later Korn albums. I think it might've been recommended already, but I think it has the best chances of appealing to you. Thank you for doing this series
"I saw Korn opening for Biohazard and House Of Pain when I was 15. When their set was over I remember telling my boy "no way this band is gonna make it." That myke tweet, no way he's gonna like Korn but idk I could be wrong
New Skin was my intro to Incubus from the Family Values Tour CD and pretty much the reason I went out and bought SCIENCE. I still have a soft spot for this album. I like the experimentation on it, Nebula in particular. I personally ignored Summer Romance as it was never really my vibe..so it sounds like we're very different in our tastes.
As far as nu metal goes, I think this is one of the more refreshing and solid albums overall. Not great in the grand scheme of things, but it’s alright I think
7:47 Lucky for you, that’s exactly the trajectory their discography took starting with their next album, Make Yourself. Btw, Make Yourself is the album with Drive. I’d love for you to review it because after seeing this review, I honestly think you’d dig most of it.
Faith No More & Mr Bungle style was replicated a lot in the Nu Metal Scene (Korn & Incubus to Slipknot) Never came close to capturing the magic What made FNM work was there ability to blur the lines in Heavy, Experimental, to Melody in one song without it being out of place & it helped tht Patton could sing his ass off when he needed too It’s funny how Mike Patton sort of became the Baby Daddy just denying and not being all that enthusiastic about its existence
I think this is the best incubus album. All depends if you don’t consider it memorable. Maybe at the time u never gave him a chance to listen to it and that's why you think it’s crap now.
Incubus' members actually exhibit some undeniable talent throughout their future discography. I think it's important to note that "SCIENCE" was created in the early years of their band and is not a good representation of what they eventually evolved into later on. They were unfortunately a part of that 2000's alternative radio wave and the nu metal sounds on some of their radio hits definitely did not age well. However, some of their deeper cuts are legitimately great and hold up to this day. They hold up largely due to the core of the band's unique sound: Mike Einziger, their guitarist. Tracks like: "I Miss You", "Stellar", and "The Warmth" that appear on their next album titled "Make Yourself" all display some gorgeous guitar tones (ignoring some of the nu metal corniness in Stellar). Their following album, "Morning View", has tracks like "Echo", "Aqueous Transmission", and "Are You In?" that are just plain beautiful. Even their radio hit "Nice to Know You" has some quality outside of the dated nu metal tropes. Lastly, I'll just mention that "Talk Shows on Mute" and the long interlude in the middle of "Sick Sad Little World" on their subsequent album, "A Crow Left of the Murder", are worth a listen as well. Overall, the band is genuinely talented from top to bottom if you look past the nu metal shit and hit-or-miss lyrics. I'd give them a fair shot though and check out their future stuff because they're one of the few 2000's alt-rock groups that had a unique and meaningful sound/identity that cannot be copied. Damn, this unemployment is giving me too much time... I'ma go back to sleep now. Thank for your input, Myke. I always appreciate your salty ass on DEHH.
Make Yourself and Morning View improves greatly on their sound. SCIENCE is by far their most Nu Metal album. I always thought Incubus was the more thoughtful and tasteful version of Linkin Park or 311.
This album is unlike any of their other stuff. The rest of their albums are more straight forward. Check out Morning View or A Crow Left of the Murder. They have little to no turntablism. No rapping. Crow is more experimental. MV is more straight forward

Would love to hear your opinion on the First placebo album their self titled one. You've likely already heard it though or at least bits cause its a big album. Vocals are just the right kind of whiny, so good
Yeah, I've heard and love ALL of Placebo's albums. The older punky stuff is awesome, but I listen to stuff like Black Market Music and Without You I'm Nothing more.
I love SCIENCE, Make Yourself, Morning View, and Stellar. A dissenting opinion, but I liked numetal aside from a plethora of corny lyricism. This band reminds me of Tool in a lot of ways and their stuff from 97-01 are really refreshing compared to the new poppy stuff.
What?! That’s very much not true. Go back and listen to Love Hurt, Oil and Water, Diamonds and Coals, or Earth to Bella and tell me that’s not corny. I love it, but the corn is heavy. ACLOTM is a far more experimental and less corny album.
You need to put *Twenty One Pilots - Trench* on the poll. as for the old nu metal stuff *Papa Roach - Infest* would be fun lol that would be interesting to see.
That lame ass verse you quoted from the last song reminds me of Rosetta Stoned by Tool. Except the humor there is definitely intentional, it works, and that song is great.
S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is EASILY their best album.

Yeah, I've heard and love ALL of Placebo's albums. The older punky stuff is awesome, but I listen to stuff like Black Market Music and Without You I'm Nothing more.
@@mykectown without you I'm nothing is incredible
I love SCIENCE, Make Yourself, Morning View, and Stellar.
A dissenting opinion, but I liked numetal aside from a plethora of corny lyricism.
This band reminds me of Tool in a lot of ways and their stuff from 97-01 are really refreshing compared to the new poppy stuff.
I still like a lot of SCIENCE. A lot has not aged well though. I still love Nebula though.
Where is your Patreon
Look in the description section.
Love the Earth Crisis shirt, I have the black version.
s.c.i.e.n.c.e. rules man!
I dont like Incubus, but this album is kinda cool. They were clearly trying to be Faith no More.
Summer Romance sounds like Faith No More's Evidence song, I like them both tho. 😁
you can even hear Brandon Boyd in Evidence. 😅
I really think that myke would fuck with Iowa, and MAYBE a couple tracks from Meteora
Holy shit I love this album lol
Excellent singing Myke 👌
Morning View
Old Incubus is solid AF! But they slowed wayyyyy down and just kinda changed their style lol
listen to light grenades its where they got the most experimental with out being corny.
What?! That’s very much not true. Go back and listen to Love Hurt, Oil and Water, Diamonds and Coals, or Earth to Bella and tell me that’s not corny. I love it, but the corn is heavy. ACLOTM is a far more experimental and less corny album.
@@RAMONES3122 true i listened after making this comment heavy corn. A Crow left is def the better choice.
So many people LOVED this bullshit. I died at this. Love these videos man. :)
This was a great record. Too bad the band seems to completely disown it
I don't blam them.
i said holy shit out loud when i saw this pop up
Idiot Box was the best song off S.C.I.E.N.C.E., imo.
Mike Einzinger is a very good player
also you'll hate morning view promise.
Mr Bungle FTW.
You need to put *Twenty One Pilots - Trench* on the poll.
as for the old nu metal stuff *Papa Roach - Infest* would be fun lol that would be interesting to see.
I don't put albums on the poll. Again, my Patreon Supporters do that.
holy shit papa roach! lol I haven't heard that band name in like 20 years.
Incubus, is not Nu-Metal
This album most definitely is.
They toured almost exclusively with SOAD in the early days.
Man I'm sorry they made you listen to this album, Morning View is by far their best album.
That lame ass verse you quoted from the last song reminds me of Rosetta Stoned by Tool. Except the humor there is definitely intentional, it works, and that song is great.
