More Mod Testing: FMIC + ATM Fenderwell Intake + Open Flash Tablet Stage 2

  • We try to test the power gains from adding an NGEN Front Mounted Intercooler and an ATM Fenderwell Intake to the 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth. Then the ECU tune is upgraded to the Open Flash Tablet Stage 2 tune. Testing the mods in my usual way (20-50 mph second gear pulls) produced confusing results, and ultimately led me to dyno testing the Abarth at a cool JDM shop.

    Greg from EC did a back to back dyno on video of 2WD then 4WD, using a 124 Abarth, there was a 30+whp difference. Take that as you will. These cars know they are on a dyno for emissions purposes I think.

    I just found your channel. You make some really good videos! I have a 2016 Abarth. GFB, Fenderwall intake, AGP FMIC, and Ec phase 2. I've also noticed losing power in the high rpms. People say to try the Tork multiair springs. Since you have access to a good dyno, maybe try throwing those in your car? I've heard they make the difference you're looking for, and if they do on that graph than I'll order them too :)

    • @EveryOtherFridayOff
      @EveryOtherFridayOff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve thought a lot about the Tork springs. I don’t think they are for me. First, I don’t spend a lot of time above 5000 rpm, so there isn’t a lot of reward for me. Second, the multi air head is weird, and I’m fairly scared of making changes there. Thanks for the kind words!

      @@EveryOtherFridayOff I understand. I think I'll end up doing it to mine. The dyno sheets I've seen show a massive gain from 4-6k rpm range. Between that and the TS WGA I'm hoping to help my top end out. But I love your content and you're driving so I'll be keeping an eye on your channel for the future!

    I also have a 2015 fiat 500 abarth with a bunch of the same mods plus some besides that beauty of a FMIC I always wonder if the eurocompulsion tuning would be better option especially since they came out with a new handled unit thats the same as what OFT offers but with more tuning options

  • @JesterXJ12
    @JesterXJ12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've always wondered if maybe the stock setup isn't good after all. I agree that notionally the FMIC it makes sense, less bends, more surface area, fewer leak points, but somebody put some thought into that design, ugly as it may be. I HPDE my Abarth monthly in season and was planning adding turbo/FMIC/downpipe(?)/custom or EC tune (running EC now). Leak points aside, thoughts on keeping the intercooler stock? Please note that this is a rhetorical question, I already bought the ATM.

    • @EveryOtherFridayOff
      @EveryOtherFridayOff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve heard it said that the stock ones aren’t bad, just complicated. A big reason for doing fmic for me was wanting to put the intake right where the stock ic was getting it’s nice cold air. I monitor IAT during autocross, and this alone has made a huge difference. So it may not be all down to the fmic being better, but the overall combo

    Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge? I noticed the boost in your HUD to be a bit off especially if its getting info from the OBD. OFT Stage 2 should hit 25-26psi in ideal conditions. Ambient temp, too low octane gas, overheating, or a bunch of different factors could prevent that.

    • @EveryOtherFridayOff
      @EveryOtherFridayOff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pulling boost numbers from OBD. For the on screen gauge I subtract 14.5 from the obd number, which can be off a little.

    So if the engine's running lean do you think you'll upgrade the pump or is it the ECU running the fuel mix lean which is the culprit?

    • @EveryOtherFridayOff
      @EveryOtherFridayOff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve been told that we have plenty of pump, and injectors. So ECU is probably the culprit

    OFT won't get past the stock PCM limiters. Hit up Brodey Dover on Facebook for info. He did a lot of custom work with Shiv and finally gave up on them.
    The stage 1 OFT will lose you about 5-10 top hp and torque but will run much smoother as it does T hit the limiters.
    If you want the 411 on the current tuning situation (including new players coming into the market) hit me up on Facebook through the Broken Fiat Club.
    Tork is definitely the best current option if you want custom work done, but there are some heavy hitters from Europe expanding into the US currently.
