    Dont care what anybody tells you about prepping, its only temporary. Most folks prepping covers food and weapons maybe meds but all that is just stuff that will run out eventually. Real prepping is sustainability. Gardens, water systems, seeds, ammo loading systems etc. Books, very important, information you may need later. But all this depends on whether you have to leave your position.

    • @TkellKnives
      @TkellKnives  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Starting with temporary is a great place to start. Severe weather outages are much more comfortable if you take time to have enough for a week. More long term requires a substantial time and monetary investment. Being prepared has many facets. This video focuses on just one small part of thinking ahead about what could happen. Thank you for the feedback.

      I gotta add to this. I've built Bob's for each of my kids, wife siblings , friends and most are fairly similar. It is such a comfort for each of them knowing that they have certain necessities right at there fingertips. First aid especially. Emergency food, clothes, flashlight. Many things theve used both in emergencys and just normal situations because they know right where it is.

    • @TkellKnives
      @TkellKnives  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@user-bd5md5cm2j same here, I have smaller school type book bags for the kids with basic essentials like some food, water, flashlight, handkerchief, and even playing cards. Small and kiddie looking because they don't need too much weight, and because I don't want to have a full on military style looking bag full of "you're gonna die" stuff. I think that an innocuous looking bag to "go camping" creates less unnecessary panic for little children. Thank you for the feedback and information.

      It's our job to protect and provide! Too many men don't know what it means to be a father and husband. They focus on what makes them feel good. Sadly society celebrates self centeredness, and puts down doing what's best for others if it's hard or makes you uncomfortable. You may not be able to spend the day playing with your buddies or having guys night, but your building better humans. Which is far better than focusing on yourself.

    Move that knife. It’s on the wrong side of your belt. How are you going to get your knife when your right hand is fighting off the reason you need your frog sticker in the first place? The best place is centerline of body where it can be grabbed by either hand, the second best pl@ce is offhand side where you can get to it with your off hand while either grabbing a person or protecting your sidearm with your strong hand.

      @@TkellKnives I gather from them InterTubes that the 320 continues to have issues, as lawsuits are incoming. A striker fired pistol that has no "trigger-tongue-safety" like the Glock (or most other copies of that pistol) could technically be more prone to that. I do not wish anybody harm or injury and I hope you will be safe with your choice of weaponry. Consider hammer-fired pistols for more safety.

    Vortex has some pretty decently priced prism optics. I have a 3x on my PCC and it rocks. A friend of the family has a prism red dot and he likes it. What mag pouches are you using on your chest rig for your PCC mags? That is definitely handy if you're running a PCC. Thank you.

    • @TkellKnives
      @TkellKnives  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you I'll check them out. The mag pouches aren't for the 9mm, I used my existing ones for my 5.56 put the magazines side by side. They hold tigh-tish but I'm still hunting for a better option. I'm surprised how much I'm liking the Pistol Carbine.

    I find that a plate carrier does not offer enough real estate for magazine pouches. So I stripped mine down bare and run an FLC over it. I'm running 8 rifle mags and 4 for my M9. If the situation doesn't require or I don't need armor (go light) I just run the FLC.

      Agreed, precisely why I use a 9mm pistol and a 9mm pistol carbine in this particular setup. Same rounds. You could use a Glock and really be cross platform so the mags would be interchangeable between the 2.

    This is going to sound like I'm trashing you, but I have legit questions on your set up. 1.) Why carry a full size rifle, and it be a 9mm carbine? You're losing so much power from not using a rifle cartridge while you are carrying a rifle platform, and you haven't even taken advantage of the reasons you may do this. see 2.... 2) with it being a 9mm carbine, that uses Glock mags, why is your side arm not compatible with your rifle (IE a Glock)? 3) the reason you gave to carry the full size rifle is "lightweight," how much does it weigh? how does that compare to say an 10" 300 blackout or 8" that would give much more velocity. 4)the one advantage I see of your set up is you can carry 6 mags on your plate carrier, but once you pill a mag doesn't the other come out too easy? I have taco mags on my belt setup, and I run a bungee on my non-emergency reload because I feel it's not secure when rolling, running, jumping around. That would be 30 times worse....What, if any, is your solution for this? 5) That large of a med kit, why not add some more capabilities? 6) have you tried to run that sling indoors? You're going to have issues. The single point was made for short term use in an indoor situation for quick transitions, but to have weapon retention. I agree, it can be uncomfortable, but for it's use and purpose you can't get better. I have a sling that goes from single to double point, situations call for different things. 7) you keep talking about weight and how you reduce it, but then have 20 knives (sarcasm). I feel this may be excessive, do you really feel the need to have 3+knives?
    again, these are honest questions, not a snobby attack, and would like to hear your thoughts. Some of my personal experience has pointed differently, but want to hear your thoughts.

    • @TkellKnives
      @TkellKnives  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First let me preface this by saying that there is no right way to loadout and this video is to get you thinking about NOT being limited in how you can setup. I did say that i have "lots of stuff" which allows for lots of setups. Also Nearly evrything you've asked is covered in other comments so I'll give brief answers. I also don't want to get into a long back and forth, about the "yeah but what if its raining banana peels and the sky turns chartreuse, and the third Reich is reinstated, and your granny has scabies, and all you can find is .308 ammo, what will you carry then"
      To answer your questions briefly without breaking down every scenario.
      1) 9mm carbine is not uncommon for defensive carry see mp5. Different situs allow for different setups. Heavier caliber will be better for some thigs that a PCC is not. nothing is definitive in warfare. Squads have SAW gunners, M203 gunners, M4 gunners etc. We carry all types of weapons for all types of encounters.
      2) I've said this in at least 4 comments before, a Glock secondary would be optimal. However Its common and perfectly ok to have different mags for primary and secondary weapon systems. For example 5.56 is my standard primary and 9mm my standard secondary. Different mags in that instance, so not a big deal to have different mags for my PCC and my secondary. We could spend days debating what's a better house, truck, hallway, long range, short range setup.
      3) legal barrel length of a rifle is 16" so that negates the 10" and 8" scenario for this comparison. Of course there is more knock down from a 300 blackout that a 9x19. 45 has way more punch that 9mm but it has become the norm to carry a secondary chambered in 9mm. The point is to not pigeon hole your self, I have lots of calibers in lots of platforms and lots of way to set it up.
      4) as I've said in other comments on the mag pouches, I used what I had on the PC already, because its new weapons system. Also to show that you don't have to be cookie cutter in your setup, and YES taco mag pouches would be much better. Maybe even 30 times better as you say.
      5) In a combat situ I don't really need much more than that in my trauma kit, more tourniquets and less bee sting cream suits me well. If you've got room and need to carry some Motrin, by all means do so.
      6) Yes I've run a 2 point sling (my sling) indoors with out issue. Natural motion if i lift my rifle up with my left arm using a cross body sling the butt is already in my right shoulder not under my chin, which I hate. The only time I've had issues with a sling was running with a single point sling and getting my wiener wacked, not to mention the barrel being centerline and eating dirt when kneeled. Some guys swear by the single point, I hate my rifle having that much swing when I transition to my secondary or am in a CQB hand to hand situation.
      7) I can barely even see the need to justify why having access to more than one blade in a CQB situation is incredibly important. It's extremally common practice to carry blades accessible from many angles. For example say your right arm is pinned or injured and the blade on right is in accessible. Same for left. Or you're being pushed into the dirt and the blade on your front is trapped between you and the ground. Same thing for a scout carry blade. Having a blade on your chest rig or PC is easily accessible. If the .5lbs per blade is something that weighs you down too much then you could carry a folding pocket knife if you like. I train/trained with a fixed blade and my experience makes me want more than one for lots and lots of reasons. I couldn't imagine having just one blade in one place. we put magazines in several places to access them for the same reasons we carry fixed blades in several places. The way I see it is if I've got magazines on the back of my chest rig incase I'm face down in the dirt why wouldn't I have a blade there too?
      I hope this sheds some light in some places you haven't considered before. I get ideas all the time from other guys that have some different setups. Thanks for watching.

    • @TkellKnives
      @TkellKnives  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've addressed that in several comments. But I'll answer it again for you. It's not a concern for me because typically my primary and secondary weapons systems don't use the same magazines. For example a typical setup would be primary as a 5.56 rifle, and my secondary (backup, sidearm etc) a 9mm pistol so the mags wont fit anyway. Plus I don't shoot my Glock as comfortably or accurately as my Sig so I choose accuracy. Also If i did carry my Glock I'm NOT using a 30 round Glock magazines in my pistol for several reasons. The most important for me is that it would make it nearly impossible to maintain a good follow-up shot because I don't train to shoot a pistol with with 30 round magazines, again I would be carrying pistol sized mags and Pistol carbine mags (30 round sticks). even if they both fit a Glock I would have 2 sizes. 30 round mags on my belt for my secondary doesn't make sense to me from a maneuverability standpoint. I suppose if I trained with 30 round pistol mags in my Glock and if I could maneuver with 30 rnd pistol mags in my Glock, and if i didn't hate the way my Glock felt in my hand then it would be a wise choice. For now though I really like my P320 over my Glock 19 and I really don't have an issue carrying 30 round magazine's for my primary because thats what I'm used to doing for my 5.56 anyway. Thank you for the feedback, and thank you for watching.

      Thank you. Those are High Speed Gear taco pouches. But they are for my AR-15 magazines they fit in there but for better retention I'd suggest the actual 9mm magazine porches. You can't go wrong with HSG though their stuff is really high quality.

    Dude great video. Great kit.
    But I have a couple points of CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM for you.
    1. It is insane to not have the same magazines for your pistol and your pcc. ie. Glock 17 or 19
    2. Put the armor plates back in your carrier!
    Unless they are steal. If you got steal ar500 armor order a set of the new polymer rifle armor plates.

    • @TkellKnives
      @TkellKnives  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree it would be optimal, but It's not really that insane because most primary and secondary weapons systems use different magazines. For example my typical setup with a 556 primary won't accept my 9 secondary. You're not alone in saying this as there have been a few other comments say the same and I've addressed it. I do have a set of polymers, highly recommend them. One point of the video was that there exist different situations and that you can adjust your gear for that. I try not to be stuck in the mindset that a PC is always the way to go for everything. For some situations a light weight chest rig is better. For others grey man. Great feedback though, thank you!

      I have one (G45) for that exact reason, and a 9mm PCC the runs Glock mags. I’m more proficient with the P320 so it’s my go to. You’re right though, More Glocks in circulation means more found mags

    We run the same ifak but mine has an "ouch pouch" patch and I used that bungee on the outside to hold an Israeli bandage. Tourniquet is in a separate kit though the ifak is on my "shit is so fucked and I only had time to grab the basics" kit aka my "cowabunga kit"

    Its shtf time right, and your rocking the plate carrier, and the chest rig and the drop holster right? Then some d-bag blows your brains out with a bolt action rifle from a hundred yards... When picking targets, who's he going to sight in on? A guy in a sweatshirt (maybe wearing a CC rig) or the peacock in the ghost recon setup?

    • @TkellKnives
      @TkellKnives  ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate your view point on grey man tactics. There may exist a time and place for that also. We are having a conversation about combat like situations similar to what's taking place in other countries OCONUS right now. Not your grey man militia. Not one of the citizen soldiers defending their homeland is dressed in a sweatshirt, and no one views them as a peacock for wearing gear appropriate for what they are facing. They are begging for plate carriers because they didn't have them when the SHTF there. I also have grey man gear for grey man situations, this is a different scenario. I try not to be married to one school of thought and limited on what I have on hand. I did a parody video on the "SGT Slaughter" vs The Grey Man you might want to check out... Grey Man won that argument btw. thanks for watching.
