      Beautiful video 😀 WOW! #MarriageGoals 💖 #AbundantLifeGoals
      I'll watch again to get all the tips,
      💁‍♀️ I was just focused on how sweet and beautiful the two of you are.
      I'm in a 2010 32ft. Catalina travel trailer, there is a water pressure issue when I shower, I'll check the outdoor shower... it's been sitting for a while & my sister wasn't "on top" of things as well as needed to keep things working, the A/C has never been cleaned & doesn't work (needed it in the Summer, but thankfully not for the time being) now the weather is cool, I need to get the Hot Water igniter fixed also

      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awww, thanks so much for your kind words! Sounds like you have a good camper there and are working on putting some love into it to get it back in shape. If it's only the shower giving you water pressure issues, it may be in the faucet itself. Here's our video where that happened with the kitchen faucet, it may give you some clues on where to go and what to look for: th-cam.com/video/diSQRgbLHxM/w-d-xo.html

    HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST. Just had the identical problem prepping for our first trip this season and same exact hot water pressure problem. Yours was the first video I watched and honestly I kept looking because I thought there is NO WAY it could be this easy. I was ready to call in for a new water heater or a bumper to bumper line check/replacement. I came back to this video and pulled the anode (same corrosion), flushed it clean and pressure is not only back but its better than its ever been. I feel like writing you guys a check - I hope you're making some $ off this TH-cam channel. There is absolutely no better feeling than fixing something yourself - for free - from an online video. We are weekend warriors when we get home from our trip I always drain my hot water heater. Which also relieves the pressure on the lines when it's sitting in my driveway. Plus the water will go stagnant and smell and taste raunchy. I usually just Purge the lines before the next trip, so that there's no air in the lines when we get set up. Happy camping

    The Water Heater check valve that is on the top of fitting you did last was probably stuck or had the chunk of calcium stuck in it! The check valves don’t last they are plastic and are junk. 90% of time if all your hotwater pickets have really low or barely any flow it the exit hotwater port check valve.

    Thanks. Have a much older unit. I believe there is only 1 check valve on my RV’s shore connection. The suspected calcium buildup is probably down stream from my suburban water heater. I’m going to try to back flush from one of the taps inside the RV. All 3 internal faucets/ shower hot water are flowing around 1/3 pressure. Old RV most likely really old deposits. They didn’t show up until I returned to the unit from a 2 month trip. Cheers!

    Knowing that you have a fairly new rig sent my thoughts directly to a line clog. Through the years of owning and working on rv's low pressures comes up fairly often. Your problem is not one of the more common ones. The most common one on new rigs though is plastic debris left in the line at the manufacturer. The other one is someone unknowingly switching a valve cutoff somewhere in the lines. We always mark the shutoffs after we find and correct this particular problem. I personally would suggest that you might want to at your convenience since all is good, is to go through and mark valve positions as they are currently set. Good luck and enjoy your rv lifestyle. James from Phenix City Alabama.

    The line going into my water pump had a bad seal which caused reduction in water pressure. I have never had the problem you had in your video, but it is good to know how to troubleshoot it! I have had my motor home for 16 years and have learned how to fix everything on it from watching people's you tube videos like yours! Furthermore, we have never been to the Pacific Northwest and were wondering if you could tell us were the best locations to visit are.

    We don't have low pressure, but when camping throughout the Missouri Ozarks, their water source are the caves that run through the southern third of the state. It's very hard water, thus we get that calcium buildup on the heater element. After draining the tank, tank a shopvac with a common flexible extender hose and vacuum any remaining deposits in the bottom of the tank and you're good to go! 💯👍👍👍💯

    We had no pressure on any faucet and the worst was shower. Well the handheld unit and hose was so old that we replace it and got blown away by the water pressure. That was most important. We will now check the thing that you pulled with corrosion to see if we can better the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I guess the old lines and air raters at the end of the faucets may hold some rocky materials as well.

    Paul has life long experience working with all types of fittings. So I might add, if you don't have a lot of experience doing this type of repair, it is always best to under tighten than over tighten water fittings. Most folks don't have an idea what we mean by "snug it up." So, tighten kind of tight, then see if it leaks. If it leaks, simply tighten a little more until it stops. Then, always keep an eye on it for a few days to see if it develops any leaks. No reason to be afraid of doing new things yourself. Except, it's much better to be informed than just winging it.

    Awesome video. Our problem was user error along with being very new at this plus self thought. We did not know how to de-winterize so when flipping the water heater valves I turned the bypass valve only 1/8 of a turn thinking that was enough like in my home. I did not realize that is an all on or all off valve. Not only did we have low water pressure, the pump would run non-stop due to not boiling up pressure. I did not figure this out myself, the service department at our camper store told me. Lesson learned. A rig is not always the same as your home.

      Wow. It could have been so much worse. And that's a great tip: check your valves to be sure they are open all the way. Live and learn, right? Hope to see you in a campground someday!

    Just had a similar issue but with both hot and cold. On my class A I have 3 large 10" diameter water filters, for both incoming and out going water. I run off tanks only. Last place in Maine had lots of minerals in the water including iron. My first filter, a sediment spun filter, was choked with iron deposits. Also my last filter, a ceramic filter needed cleaning, and this was after 2 months of full timing. Changed out the first one, (always carry spares) and cleaned the last one, and all is good. Did not change out the middle carbon block filter. Might have to get another inline filter for iron if it becomes a issue in the future. Also remember to clean any strainers at the fixture once in a while. I only run off tank just in case there is a leak somewhere, don't want that city water pressure flooding my coach.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, that's really smart to only run off the tank. We have a water pressure regulator and do switch to using the tank during those times the water pressure is too low. You saw our rusty filters in the video-same thing as yours! Thanks for your comment and be safe.

    Excellent video. Very informative. Didn't read all the comments so I may be inadvertently repeating what someone else may have already suggested. That said, it looks like you need to pre-filter your incoming water to lighten the load on the anode. I realize you are no longer at the original, offending, campground but still should help by keeping less mineralization of the tank. Just a thought. A very informative post!

    Another cause of low water pressure is a buildup of sediment in the shower head or in the aerators on the faucets. All of these items should be checked and cleaned up at least once a year and more often if you are in a high mineral water area.

    Good detective work. Could this also have been caused by an air pocket in the heater? I think I read that somewhere. By the way, there is nothing wrong with that anode. It’s doing its job and still has a long life left.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul says an air pocket would cause it to spit and sputter but would not cause low pressure. Yep, that anode will be good for a up to three years. We are grateful.

  • @bradleycrandall30

    I had a low water problem at one time and tracked it down too a valve right behind and in the water outlet or inlet of the water heater.
    It kept the hot water from filling the line when I shut the shower head off.
    With it in , the cold water would fill the line.
    Removing it hasn't bothered me as I point the shower head at the wall for a few seconds and I'd rather a blast of hot then cold.

    Hi there! I had a feeling it was that thingamajig! LOL! I saw it on another TH-cam channel - but I think the person who repaired it had a small little brush that actually fits in the hole, like a baby bottle brush, and they were able to brush out some of the calcium buildup, so you might want to look into that as well. Have a good day!

    I’ve mentioned before we never put water in our pop-up or our RPod. Only a teeny kitchen sink in the pop-up, no toilet facilities, so why bother? And the Rpod we only had for a few months before we decided we didn’t like it and bought the Travato. And we had three nights in that before the lockdown, so we haven’t dealt with this issue yet! There’s enough water in it for little #1 toilet flushes. I have to say that having to go through all this with a brand new rig makes me even less excited about putting water in.
    But I have to ask - would it not have been under warranty? I know Paul is amazing and can do all this stuff, but if you had called, would you not have had some sort of free service possibility? Or maybe the free roadside warranty we got was only for breakdowns and we’d have to take it to a shop for a water problem and shops are impossible to get into in any sort of reasonable time.

      Hi Trish,
      Yes, that's a great point and is why we went with Grand Design. They would have sent a mobile tech out at no cost to us. If I were still solo, that's what I would have done. Paul, however, lives for stuff like this. He really does like fixing things and this was the kind of mystery that would have kept him up at night. He was "on it" immediately! He's the kind of guy who likes to take things apart. No lie, he has looked at our fireplace and said, "I wonder how that thing comes out of the cabinetry" and he's looked up at the ceiling panels and said, "I wonder how those ceiling panels come down."
      He's just that kind of guy! I am counting my blessings that nothing in the RV or the truck ever needs fixing!
      Thanks for watching and commenting. I have heard such good things about the Travato. Sounds like you are happy with it. I looked at the RPod and can see how they would be fun, but also limiting if you want to do more serious camping.
      Sometimes it is less stressful to not put water in so you don't have to worry. I used to camp with a group of gals. One of them had a PleasureWay van and she wouldn't turn on the propane. Ever. Or use the awning or half of the other features. She just didn't want the stress of, say, opening an awning and finding it won't close.
      Hope you get a good season of camping in!

    When I return to America this autumn, I want to RV on my own (with a travel trailer). But I admit it's intimidating to see the amount of maintenance & repair I would have to learn to do. Did you do much of this on your own (and pre Paul)? True, I'm educable! Also, do you have any links as to what I can expect to pay to do this? (I'll own my car and travel trailer).

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. When I was solo I was forced into doing some repairs. You have to at least know how to caulk and do minor fix-it jobs. I think owning an RV is like owning a boat, it really helps to be handy. You could call a mobile repair person but often that is not practical. Here is a video when I had to make some emergency roadside repairs as a solo traveler: th-cam.com/video/9HqmFZK0qqA/w-d-xo.html
      It includes some good tips.
      As far as costs go, Paul and I are working on an expense video. We both tracked our expenses when solo. The short answer is it can be done as cheaply or as expensively as you choose.

      Thanks Rejean, Paul says because it helps avoid scale buildup it would probably have helped quite a bit. He is now looking into those systems and watching a TH-cam video about them. Thanks so much for the great tip!

    Good info, I'll keep it in mind. I noticed that you have the Anderson hitch. I'm thinking really hard on this. How's it working out for you guys?

      Hi Wayne. I believe they have a complete video talking about that hitch. I think its titled hitching uo solo or something like that.

    We have done all that and still have low hot water pressure. We are completely stumped. We even had a mobile RV repair guy come out and spent 2 days trying to help us and we still can't get the pressure we need. So Sad

      @@LizAmazing Hi Liz - our pump is not working. We have to order a part for that.

      @@joanbenner6628 It's surprising that the tech couldn't do what Paul did: test the water flow from the source and then every step of the way after. I guess it depends on how accessible all of that is.

    If anything, maybe it should be called a cold water heater. No need to heat hot water. So just call it a water heater.

      Yes! Paul said it correctly each time. I must have some kind of mental block. I also want to say InstaPot instead of Instant Pot! 😄
