Thank you! I love this comment and I couldn’t agree more. It’s so fun to take raw individual ingredients and to cut them, cook them, and turn them into something new. As you know, I try to pass that on to the kids as much as they pay attention. Tanks lady.

I love your soda recipes. I use them for when I don’t drink. The sparkling orgeat lemonade is my favorite one.
Why did you get rid of the ABV displayed and the use of the metric system on the app? The metric is better to me for making cocktails.

Run the update again. 5.0.1 posted just a couple hours ago. Long story short i had layout issues that i fixed. I made all the cocktail info selectable in the settings gear on the first screen. ABV should still be there along with grams of sugar and I added volume and calories. When I tested it I made sure it didn’t change your existing settings but maybe I was a bit off. Oops, hope not.
Funny you mention the sparkling orgeat because I took all the non-alcoholic drinks out of the app because I’m going to make a separate soda app soon. Same setup and UI but a separate one for just non alcoholic drinks and their ingredients. Soda syrup ingredients don’t really make sense in a cocktail app and I was starting to have to make too many exceptions to fit them in. Sodas are a bit of a different beast so it makes sense to just make a new app geared towards them. All the sodas are still on my website though and I plan on keeping them there.

@@VintageAmericanCocktailsI think the soda syrups can still work for cocktails. I made a ginger syrup to be used with soda water to make it a ginger “ale” for a dark and stormy. I recommend your soda drinks in the mocktail Reddit forum. I just reinstall the app and it works. I really like the new layout. I’m surprised you don’t have the whiskey fix or horsefeather cocktail on the app.

I love your videos - thank you for producing them. I have two questions that I hope you can answer. About how long would you recommend storing the syrup in the fridge, and are there any potential substitutes for the cherry bark extract? I am assuming that grocery store here extract would not be suitable, but I could be wrong. Thanks again!

I’m glad you like the video! I recycled the syrup making part of the video from my cherry Vanilla Coke one because the recipe is the same. I wonder if people will notice that. You can store it in the fridge for maybe 2-3 weeks. Once you see any cloudiness form, dump it. The 2:3 syrups last a little longer than 1:2. You can also store this in the freezer since it has enough dissolved particles in it that it will stay liquid and won’t crystallize.
I would just leave the cherry bark extract out. It’s not a big deal. It has a warm woody cherry wood flavor. Like the flavor from smoking meats with cherry wood but not smoky obviously lol. I just got mine off Amazon. Crazy enough, In the mid 1800s It was originally added to drinks as an anti inflammatory for gout/joint and breathing issues.

@@VintageAmericanCocktails Thank you very much for your reply! I think I may try boiling down some tart cherry juice to the consistency of pomegranate molasses and see how the flavor of that is. Thanks again for all the videos you do!

@@therbstewart that’s great idea. I’ll have to try that sometime too.
