**𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆**
The area belonged to the southern territory of the Aequi and, upon conquest by the Romans, it became part of the Aniensis tribe (of the Aniene), established in 299 BC.
The development of a possible preceding fair oppidum was probably linked to the Roman occupation, with the construction of several monumental buildings in the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC.
Here existed a temple of which some marble pillars remain, one of which is reused in the church of Santa Maria Assunta as a baptismal font.
In the late Republican era it was a municipality, as an inscription testifies, with the name of Treba and then *Treba Augusta*. Later on, on the slopes facing the Aniene valley, villas were built on terraces in square work.
The Acqua Marcia aqueduct originated in its territory.
Later It was the seat of a diocese (diocese of Trevi nel Lazio), which was incorporated in 1088 into that of Anagni.
In 1151 the Trevi castrum was the object of an exchange between Pope Eugene III who gave it to the brothers Oddone and Carsidonio Colonna.
During the Napoleonic occupation it was first part of the Circeo department of the Roman Republic (1798-1799), with Anagni as its capital, and then of the Tiber department (1809-1810).
After the disappearance of the Papal State in 1870 it became part of the Kingdom of Italy, in the district of Frosinone in the province of Rome. In 1872 the city council decided on the name of Trevi nel Lazio. In 1927 it became part of the then established province of Frosinone.

Lovely small town. The camera timing is perfect and allow us to notice several important details as for example: Every house has a number and every street has a plate with its name. This is the fist time I see it in many of your videos I have watched. The poetry in some walls also is a lovely detail witch reveals the good mode of inhabitants.
Trevi nel Lazio become my favorite small town up to now.

I agree with you Sher Wood. Trevi was a big suprise for me as well. First time I went there, it's about 40 minutes by car from where I live but I never went (!). Stunning peaceful town. Wish you a nice Sunday!
When you pan out across the countryside I wonder if you'd ever drive around or fly your drone so we can see how the out-of-town folks live.
Interesting point Sharon! I'll try to film a little bit outside the towns. Usually there are normal houses outside, mostly built in recent years and not so old or interesting as these medieval towns. But I'll try to film from drone the outer villages too
