    You should have included the area where gravel bikes have the most advantage over an MTB, flat smooth gravel or road - mtb will be hard to sit at more that 16mph but the gravel bike will be happy at 20+mph.

    • @davidrsmith2417
      @davidrsmith2417 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Levo SL can easily travel at 20+ MPH with stock gearing. Actually, my Levo SL has a Wolf Tooth 34T chainring (stock is 30T) which makes it easy to achieve 23MPH on flats and if you can spin, you can achieve about 26MPH, even though e-boost stops at 20MPH. Specialized Fast Track 29 x 2.3" tires really help with the higher speed efforts.

    • @TheFreshPeddler
      @TheFreshPeddler ปีที่แล้ว +1

      theyre ebikes, flat gravel or road is easy to do 20mph. shit a cheapo 350w metakoo can climb hills on road at 20mph if not crazy steep.
      the egravel is lighter but likely with less battery so imo the biggest benefit is when your not under motor power or the lighter weight on road.
      that said, idk enough about egravel bikes to to know how viable they are over a light 17 lb or so gravel bike.
      riding that egravel at pa 1, might just sort of pointless vs a light bike without motor.
      to me emtb makes more sense as a heavier bike with energy zapping suspension is needed to do DH offroad but the power makes climbing easy, unless you like pulling the added weight uphill.
      a regular gravel bike can pretty easily do over 20mph, so im not sure i see the need for egravel.

      nope ... Gravelbikes are just the better Roadbikes because you can get about the same speed and handling on tarmac but have all the options beyond... you can allways turn left and right how you like, and dont get stuck, nor have to slow down.
      Roadbike out and out speed and accelleration is amazing fun, carving down road descends aswell... but its a one-trick pony.

    Gravel bikes are for going into town, riding long streaks, and for riding relatively tame (compared to the last downhill streak) trails in the woods. You can use it like an EMTB, but it's kind of like using a steak knife instead of a saw to cut down a tree. Gravel bikes simply aren't intended to do the same kind of mountain trail jumping and rock climbing that EMTBs very much are. If mountainous trails are the main activity: EMTB. If you're going on a road trip or have 15 miles into town, and can take some shortcuts through the woods: Gravel.
    Interesting video, but the conclusion: that mountain bikes are better, is only convincing if you don't want a bike for the kinds of things gravels are intended for.

I got a cracking deal on a pair of DT Swiss H1900 wheels for £100 with 35mm internal rims from CRC and can run 2.6/2.8 on them with a proper profile. I've put a pair of 50mm wide Schwalbe Hurricanes on the old wheels so if I want to do "gravel" or road even they fit the bill nicely no point in yet another bike! I upgraded the front disc to a 200mm....well I do live in the Cairngorms so necessary upgrades!

  • @fireblade1986
    @fireblade1986 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    within the limiter E-bike is E-bike ... just about what you do after climbing... and what they did is just not gravelriding ... typical gravel-Speed for me is well beyond the limiter on more or less flat terrain.
    put in a nice Road or smoth fire-road descend and a 2mile flat countrylane and you just smoke the s*** out of the MTB... E or not.
    ridden Road, Gravel, Touring/XC, 140mm Hardtail, and Enduro.... pick one? Gravel... pick two? Gravel+Agressive Hardtail... and I'm top10 Strava DH locally even on my Hardtail.
    ... just the fun of beeing out exercising and having the bigger range and speed with less efford is the fun point of Gravel.
    .... exact same reasons why people switch to E, just without it.
    Add in E and you kill close to all the points of Gravel all along ... in the Flat on gravel you can go close to the same speed, climbing you can go the same speed, range same, Headwind close to same due to motor.
    E-Gravel just gains close to nothing over E-Anything... Road-descending and flat out over limit speed in the flat are the only two.
    They just don't need E or the later will not be reached by someone who does not want to put in the efford.

Anyone who wants to get rid of the limitation does not want to do sports, but just want to ride an e-motorbike.

  • @rafadembek724
    @rafadembek724 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Clearly not the native territory for the gravel, but actually the only that justifies a motor. Else you expect to get 40-60km/h and a restricted e is just extra weight. Go e for your trail bike, coz it's fun and makes up for the tire width and suspension weight. Go analog for gravel.

    • @thisisabsolutelystup
      @thisisabsolutelystup 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      40-60kph is nonsense. That's professional roadbike speed. Unless you're talking downhill, in which case, I've literally just got back from an MTB hard tail ride doing 40-60kph on some of the descents. Over loose gravel and loam. There's no way a gravel bike can do those descents as quickly and as safely as an MTB can.
      Gravel bikes are just road bikes for hard pack but not tarmac.
