Boy, the HoneyDripper. He's a killer, the HoneyDripper! I first heard this in about 1996, and it has tumbled through my consciousness like I have been singing it under my breath...off and on....all these years. Thank you Ray for 'Finding' and Posting this fantastic music.
I had the Sammy Franklin and His Atomics version of this on a 1950s TOPS 78 that was in with a batch of 78s when my parents bought an old Philco radio/phonograph combination in 1958 from some neighbours in Reedsport,Oregon.I don't remember it all after 61 years. That record has long since disappeared. It's on You Tube, but I can't access it.I also had it on a 45 in the 1960s.I found out, many years later,it was issued on the Black and White label.I've no idea who owns the masters to Black and White now.
+spib65 he also taught Fats Domino to play ...and wrote Blueberry Hill...Fats '' borrowed '' it , according to Sykes , who showed no bitterness when he told the story when I saw him in 1972
This is beautiful, pure piano blues, from one of the greatest American musicians of all time.
My wife great-grandfather Mr. Roosevelt Sykes himself
Thank you very much for this presentation of a genius innovator that we may all enjoy. This man put the roll in the rock dudes.

I first saw this in early 1996 on MSNBC of all places while living in Chiemgau, Deutschland. Man, thank the stars for YT.
THANK YOU, Ray Ward! I have many covers of this song in my collection, but not this version. Wonderful!
wow - the original. I grew up on the Australian band Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons doing their rocking version of this thinking it was their song.

He didn't. Joe Liggins did the original, despite what Roosevelt Sykes claims here.
Ah, the Honeydripper, thank you for the posting.

Wow! I thought the Joe Liggins recording on Specialty was the original.
HE SAID "I THOUGHT I TOLD YA NOT TO DONT DO THAT."
