Many people have said these very words: it wasn't about the cars. Top Gear (2002-2015) and The Grand Tour were simply just about 3 middle to post-middle aged men with bad fashion choices falling over and laughing at each other due to cocking about, getting bogged down and many, many other things. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all the memories that were shared in this unforgettable journey together from the TV screen.
It's not quite over yet. Just the thing with the studio tent. As long as we get at least 1-2 episodes a year, I'm happy. We should enjoy it while we can...
It was initially, then when viewing figures went up they became more entertainment, up to the point of not even properly reviewing cars or even looking at any normal one we would but, or giving advice on something, so from roughly about 2010
Clarkson, Hammond and May will go down in history as simply the best trio of tv hosting the world has ever seen. Genuinely. TG was the biggest show in the world when they left, and while other things in the world just continue to get worse and lower quality, these guys kept bringing it. Andy Wilman had a big hand in it as well. Thank you guys for so many wonderful years of entertainment.
I am a car gal, husband couldn’t care less about them. But he started watching TG with me because of the humour these three had. Lost my husband this year and now these three British blokes. It’s certainly been a memorable drive and all the best to you guys.
There’s nothing that can prepare you to see someone you’ve watched all your life start crying while he announces the end of the car show you’ve enjoyed all your life, it made me cry and i can tell that many others shared my sadness
Seeing the orangutan weep was the first time I'd seen real vulnerability in the big gallut. After seeing Clarksons farm I've grown to love the big fool.
@@krashdown102 nope, proves that he was excellent at playing a character. Once he introduced a little vulnerability, especially after seeing the sheep scene, I thought he wasn't such a heartless aul fart after all.
You do see it every now and then in the course of the show. The Patagonia special comes to mind when he tells the story of how the 928 was responsible for allowing him to see his dad before he died.
1:52 - "We are at the cutting edge of cocking about" Richard Hammond. Perfectly sums up Top Gear / Grand Tour for me. My favourite is the lorry overtaking Clarkson in the 'leaning tower of Citroen'. No matter how many times I see it, I start laughing with Clarkson's gasp as he sees the approaching lorry in the mirror, then James' hysteria completely finishes me.
this montage is epic , i can recall every scene in it . those people were pioneers , they shaped all car tv shows all over the world those were produced after they appear . they were the OGs
The cutting edge of cocking about indeed. Let me say just this: Never in the history of mankind have so many had so much fun due to so few. Thank you, gentlemen!
While the three of them aren’t completely gone, it is really sad to see them not do scheduled episodes. Really gonna miss turning in the TV every Friday night and see the three of them screw around especially sense I’ve been watching them since 2011.
The good thing is we got 17+ years worth of their content to watch again, it is a really massive amount, by the time I got to the end I´d forgot what happened in the beginning. Clarkson and May were also on the older old Top Gear on some episodes, so there´s that as well
Watching that brought back all the emotions I had when I originally watched this episode. I was relieved when they said they’d continue to make specials, I will never be able to get enough of these three!

This announcement and montage was the saddest moment in Grand Tour/Top Gear history. 💔 Also Clarkson's story about how he raced in a car just in time to say goodbye to his dad. 🥺 Love these guys so much.
I remember that night they released the Stig reveal episode, it was like a dream come true, like christmas for a kid. OH MY GOD ITS MICHAEL SCHUMACHER! This show made so many awesome memories.
Growing up watching these 3 together for 17 years going on endless adventures the accidents the mishaps the bickering the challenges the togetherness & forever be highly entertained each time on every episode will never be beaten. I have watched each and every top gear series and grand tour series more than 10 times, that is how much i love this show, thank you for the 17 years of pure happiness and joy you three brought to us, what a journey we came along with you three . We love you all..
I couldn't watch this (again) and only clicked on it to make a comment. I grew up watching TG and this really was an end of an era. I'm grateful that we have a few more episodes coming but I certainly cherish the memories I have of watching TG with mate.
These three guys have gotten me through some tough times. Top Gear/The Grand Tour has always been my comfort show. So many times when I've been having a bad day I'll throw on a special and it just instantly cheers me up. Already looking forward to the next one.
As much as I’d like to celebrate being the first to comment, I really want to instead say how sad a day this was. End of an era, and a truly great show. A day men cried, and the eyes of legends darkened.
Off-road driving was a big part of my job during conscription. I felt every vehicle break-down, recovery and overall discomfort (terrain, weather, living conditions, food, physical wellbeing) they had in all their trips, especially their epic road trips overseas. Clarkson and May, in particular, are not young when they did their road trips. Much respect to the entire crew for what they have to endure during the filming of the show in general.
There will never be live entertainers as great as Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May! On top of their encyclopedic knowledge about automobile history, their sense of humor is and will be unparalleled, also the entire BBC and Grand Tour crews are absolutely AMAZING! Probably some of the greatest videography works I've ever seen. Thank you for everything

Geez I didn’t think this would worry me one way or the other, however I find myself nearly tearing up too!
