You beat me to it haha damn you 😂 actually the director wanted to have him in leather but Peter said no put me in a white suit, it suits who Lucifer is better aka the light bringer
Peter Stormare in Constantine and Viggo Mortensen’s portrayal of the devil are by far my favorite depictions of Lucifer. Peter’s version gives Luci a bit of a smug, perverse, and playfully deviant air about him. He knows just how powerful and dangerous he is, but he’ll opt to toy with you for his own sick pleasure.
My favorite element about this version of the Devil that not only does he hardly get angry, but he knows damn good and well that John will slip and do something that lands on his list.
I'd say the opposite, it's clear he is very angry all the time and is just barely keeping a lid on it. He loves being evil and angry, but he's also equally pissed off at John for all of his "work" over the years. He is constantly one bad day away from causing an apocalypse.
The devil in biblical description isn't an angry fellow. That's how he entices people. You don't go towards people that are angry. You go towards those that give you want you want. Also, he's supposed to be the most handsome thing in God's kingdom, and encrusted in every precious jewel. So the suit makes sense. The angry all black, horns, or goat legs is just renaissance interpretation in painting that people believe today
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise This has nothing to do with biblical descriptions tho. Lucifer is literally a character in the DC universe which is what this film is technically based in. Ever heard of Justice League Dark? Constantine has been involved with a number of super heroes.
It’s more that he hides his anger behind a veneer, and it’s not that he knows John will do something bad he believes he will, because he suspects and thinks the worst of mankind that’s why johns sacrifice and beating him angered him so.
Only a few minutes on screen and he's capable to steal the whole movie. Peter Stormare is a hell of actor with a diabolical talent. Constantine's Lucifer is the best worst badass of the darkness.
Probably one of the favorite depictions of the devil because he cures John of cancer. Like yea it would be incredibly reasonable that he would save a man's life if it meant another chance at getting his soul and just to be his own middle finger to god.

My favorite thing about the Constantine stories was that angels were portrayed as the original religious extremists, regularly willing to kill anyone because if you’re bad, you’re going to hell (which you deserve) and if you’re good, you’re going to heaven (so what’s the problem?). I’m not fond of Stormare’s casting since all angels - even Lucifer - were supposed to look like Swinton, androgynous yet beautiful.
@ The sole change in the books was losing their wings - physically, still looked the same. The backstory is that the angels pre-date gender, male and female humanoids started with Adam and Eve.
The comic version of Lucifer was spot on, and a lot more like you're describing, but I'm not going to quibble with this casting choice. I think Stormare blows everyone off screen with just a couple of minutes of screen time.
Stormare's casting was 'Excellent' as well as his portrayal. You really think Lucifer is going to look as he did before? He's the angel of 'darkness', not the once beautiful angel he was.
"Why is the devil in white?" Lucifer? The Lightbringer? Morningstar? The OG writers of Constantine knew a lot about the history of all this stuff.
He was also the most beautiful of all angels though... I'm not calling Peter Stormare ugly, but...
well people dont read -I reed religion and psychology at Uni, Now Im Danish so I see most Christians, but many get their ideas from media
As well as how Morningstars primary power is to heal.

Jeff Goldblum did a movie called Mr. Frost where he plays a convicted serial killer trying to convince his psychiatrist that he's actually the devil.

I understand fans of the comic hated this movie for several reasons. But I've always liked this movie and this scene in particular

Peter Stormare is such an awesome actor.
Can't think of a bad performance from him, truly underrated
In the Bible, Lucifer is described as the most beautiful Archangel. So him wearing white makes perfect sense.
I was lucky enough to see the movie premiere. the best lucifer in the history of cinema
The best version of Satan ever IMO
Peter Stormare stealing show in this scene😎
This is symbolic of Keanus life. Being there for his sister
Peter Stormare is one of Keanu good friends
Loved his five minutes or so in John Wick 2.... he killed three men in a bar with a pencil... who can do that?!?
Hands down my favorite depiction of Lucifer
Pacino's in Devils Advocate was good as well
He almost has a snake-like quality to the way he speaks.
Keanu and Lucifer were together in the movie "John Wick 2"
In that movie Lucifer was afraid of Keanu.
“A fucking pencil, Who does that?”
when? which scene?

Im so glad have that Movie on DVD
This Lucifer trumps that tv show Lucifer. Any time!! That Lucifer in the tv show is a joke. This one looks more menacing and much better.
True. But different takes on Louie.
I hope Francis Lawrence gets to direct BIOSHOCK
He's simply perfect
Peter Stormare is my second favorite Devil actor. Favorite is Gary Oldman in Tony Scott's BMW shortfilm "The Driver".

Mary Cherry was embarrassingly lost the entire time.
Best devil in cinema
DeNiro, Angel Heart. Then Stormare.
I mean if u ignore that he's supposed to be blonde if u mix Stellan skarsgard and tom morgan. It is literally lucifer
"Gabriel's going to hell"
"worse Cleveland... for the whole of human history"
why is Lucifer in white?
because hes a former angel
How does the Devil not understand the sacrifice? Like, he's not smart enough?
