Corringle Slips final

The Corringle Slips are at the mouth of the Snowy River in East Victoria, Australia. The Slips were a major shipping point for local produce prior to the railway being built to Orbost. The Snowy River has lost a lot of its grandeur since the government diverted 95% its flow inland to the Murray river and its many miles of fertile land on the way to the sea in South Australia. The Snowy River Hydro scheme supplies around 4,500 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity each year.

The Corringle Slips camping area is not near as pretty as Cape Conran since it caters to hard core boat fishermen whose interest is the boat rather than the ambience. For me access to a great length of surf beach is the attraction. Don't go over the dune but follow the boardwalk - the beach is sign posted - much easier.
