i agree 70% of my jobs are single story extensions cavity trays are a waste of time and money imo. hardly ever install them...... i throw a couple of weeps in if the client is a busy bod and has been watching too many youtube tutorials! love the channel appreciate all the effort you got to mate cheers andy.
Absolute credit to the game 27 years in and still learning of you , remind me so much of my cousin who taught me around your age he done the Germany , Holland and aus god bless
Great video Andy …. Spot on with the materials ….. what good planning you have … not watched part 1 , but hopefully I will find it .. looking forward to part 3 and hopefully more ! Again a really good video …
Love that crane Andy so much work and umping saved with that .Love the hard hat bit 🤣🤣 bollocks in they mate. Jobs looking good weather been terrible in Cardiff again but what can you do other than sit it out 👍🧱🧱👏
Nice one Andy, when I worked with my dad we used to do the wall plates the same way. Dry, with screws and straps and a little bit of gripfill just to get an initial stick.
Nice one. Agree with the wall plates, even if the plate is straight, when you stick it onto a wet bed it always curls up as it sucks the moisture out of the bed. Way easier to do them dry.
Good to see you back at it mate a couldn't agree more with what you say a be about bricklayers and reduced prices in your video ,must agree like that's a good bit of kit that crane 👍🍻🍻
I only put a tray over a lintel if there’s more than 600mil brick or blockwork over it. That’s what inspectors have told me and they’re always happy👍Cambridgeshire area
That crane well and truly earned it's money ...I've had to pay for 2 deliveries of my stonework as my drive is very steep and no storage at front and no access to back garden until floor slab poured, All handballed from pavement .
Tell you what when you watch Andy 50 years in the building game you learn alot so you youngster that want to become bricklayers subscribe to this channel he knows is stuff and says it as it is .he's a credit to the building game
hey up andy 45 years on the trowel and ive never seen a weephole that works yet mate!!!!! And dont get me started on new insulation regs fkin joke😂 anyway great ch look forward to your input and a good moan for us old un,s thanks mate
The reason a tray is preferred over a lintel on a single storey flat roof extension is only for future proofing for a later possible upper storey extension.
@@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 that is not my understanding. The minimum concrete depths are different depending on whether it is a single or double storey. I agree that trench depth is the same.
@@MARTINA-gc3tq in my area it would always be a minimum of 1 meter of concrete as we always do mass fills so no problems, ime a bit pissed now so no trying to catch me out lol

ive always said that about weep holes .BOLONEY 😁
Are you making the cav wall into a 9” wall Andy?
@@craigstyrin3453 No mate.
😂 agreed! Most weep vents are butchered and stuck on!!
That crane is something else, almost cheating having materials delivered with that!
"fucking hard hat ain't gunna do much if that lot lands on ya" 😄. Fact. 👍
Nice video thanks
Did you have to mug the driver? If not hes a top bloke.
He was a top bloke 👌
£400 for the full pack copings yeah that’s a bargain buddy.
What a machine that wish had some like that on few jobs a tell ya.

Unlikely but a valid point Martin.
@@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 it is a similar reason for over deep foundations for a single storey extension.
@@MARTINA-gc3tq Also valid but as you know the regs are the same for single or double it just has to be a stable base.

Organisation bud
tray is for the build we are told while the cavity is open
How long you been using spreader plates instead of pads mate? Look much better
For years mate but not on every job, just depends on the structural Engineer, ridiculous really should all be one standard👍
We could do with one of them lorries, proper bit of kit but that’s got to be 200k at least 😳
330k

Average age off a bricklayer is over 50 the younger generation could not cope with shite weather and hard work long enough to learn the hardest trade
How much does the crane cost you for 45 mins andy
That one is £320 for half a day or the delivery

So if you use metal plates you dont need pad stones
@@ianbarker634 Normally no but that's down to the structural engineer to prove its adequate.
