Nice video! As you noted,, if you have faucets back to back (sharing the wall) you need to install one of the valves upside down. Another tip: place a face towel over your drain so screws etc. don't accidentally fall into the drain.
Hi. Thanks for staring this video. I have the hot - cold water issue too. For clarification the cartilage goes in upside down. And the notched side (tab side) of the stem should remain upright. The white & black valves should be set to OFF position Thanks
YOOOOO thank you so much for this. i think this is the first thing I've fixed in a long time that didnt take me two tries because of your video haha. Thanks so much for making this!
It's probably just corroded. Spray it with WD-40 or something similar. To get mine loose I had to pry the pliers against the surround. You could also put a washer and the bolt in and use that to pry against your surround. Hopefully this helps you.
Audrey , the best option would be to buy a puller at home depot or Lowes it's so easy to pull it out with the cartridge puller. I had mine stucked as well, but it was so easy to break it loose with the puller...Good luck
That metal cover that you slid out - it's supposed to slide out easily right? I can't get mine out. Old house though so wondering if it's just seized on
You don't have to turn off the main water if you have valves that you can turn off at the shower one for hot, and another one for cold. Normally there is an access panel outside the bathroom directly behind the tub/shower that has the on/off valves. If you can't locate these or you do not have them then yes the main cut off would be the next step to turn off.
What would a plumber charge for this? I don’t won’t to do it. Don’t want to run into problems I can’t fix. The guy that put it in years ago did it wrong and told my mom the cold and hot were in the opposite direction. Well because of this you get only hot or cold water no in between. Why he didn’t just fix it. I don’t know.
as a plumber, due to the risk of a cartridge being stuck do to calcium, we would charge around $200. if it came out easily enough, I would personally charge $149. Plumber's charge over $300-$600 an hour. We're currently around $364 an hour, so a job taking 30-60 minutes would easily be a $225 charge or more.
@@adamcarter1266 Good news I got it done for $147.00, which is what they charge per hour. Within the hour I got a leak fixed under the kitchen sink and the washing machine hot and cold valves (not sure if that’s what you call them) changed because we were getting a new one, so I think it was a good deal. He also noticed that the water wasn’t draining properly when fixing the problem, that the hook or something had fallen (where the tub’s stopper is) so he took the time to fish it up and put it back in place.
This is the only video that explains the fix for back to back showers. Thanks
Appreciate that you didn’t edit out the error. Thank you
I like the error, because I did the same thing. Made me feel better. Thank you for making this video! Very helpful!

The back to back shower statement explained my situation!! Thanks so much

You definitely deserve an attagirl. Glad to hear it.

Thank you so much. Had the same problem.
Very helpful...thanks for posting
Thanks, I fixed the shower myself, and the guy who installed it couldnt figure it out..
Glad I could help.
Thanks a lot. Pipes in my wall are reversed, hot supply pipe being on the right instead of left. 👍
Glad it helped!!!

I'm glad I could help
This was exactly what I needed. Thanks!
You're welcome
Perfect video. Was goina try this so good to know it works!!
That was helpful. I have this same problem. I was afraid I had to switch the hoses.
My man! saved me a call to a plumber
Thanks man worked great
Thanks brother
Always low quality video 😂😂😂 the better ones😅
THANK YOU
Great video 💪
You should cut a larger hole in the liner for future access if necessary.
I can’t break the seal. Any tips? I’ve pulled out the pin, and all I have left is to pull it out and flip it. But it’s stuck!

@@theshineing so after pulling a long time, the gold part that holds the screw broke off… what can I do now??
@@theshineing the plastic has all cracked and I can’t get it out. Did I just screw this up completely?
@@audreyjones6912 no totally. Is it just the inside that is cracked. If so you can get a new insert.

You really need to put your spout closer to the wall and put silicone around it. Water leaking behind each time you're taking shower
Yep did that right after this
Thx

Some were attached to the face plate but most were separate. It should come off.
@@theshineing wd40 and a couple of wacks with the screw driver loosened it up enough to get off. Thanks for the response.
Do i really have to turn off the main water?
Yes

If you don't, it will be a very wet experience. ....... if you do so, please make a youtube video for us, I promise you will go viral among DIYers.
I did this and it didn't work. The hot water is still on the wrong side
You didn't do something right
Mine won’t come out
Read through some if the comments. One guy suggested WD-40 and a screwdriver worked for them.

Most plumbers have $100 minimum. You really shouldn't be over 200 though.

This is exactly my problem however you are not giving us a good view of what the valve hardware looks like at each step so I gave you a thumbs down.
