    Answer to final question was "Duel". A great film, still worth watching in 2023. Reccommended!!

      YES! I think it's one of Speilberg's best films. Dennis Weaver was terrific. Edge of your seat stuff.

    Thanks again, CosmicPumpkin! This match was a tale in three parts. It looked like it would be a runaway by the winning team, but then the losers caught up and actually passed them. After that, however, they all but disappeard. Although the winners are a very likeable team that could improve with time, I can't number them among the strongest teams I've seen so far. That said, my best to both teams and each individual.

      Chris, good to read you again! When are you going to turn on the stove? I fully agree that this was a strange match. Possibly the quietest I have seen in years. Admittedly, the questions were more difficult, too. But NUL seemed strangely reluctant to get involved.

      Hello my friend! I refrain from posting my meals, because I don't want to make it about me. After all the drama we went through in the past, I'm just glad to be able to watch. Looked for awhile like that wouldn't be possible.
      Tonight I watched the match and enjoyed apple pie ala mode and hot chocolate. Really hit the spot! See you next week!

    Thanks CP. Glad this program(me) has yet to succumb to being blocked on YT like many other British ones that I enjoyed watching here in the US.

    As always, very enjoyable. Not exactly dull, but not a lot of team chemistry or great enthusiasm. Always interesting to see the different dynamics between the teams each week!

    Thanks so much, Cosmic Pumpkin! I cannot say at this stage, that York is one of the lesser teams going through to the next round. They could be anything, imo. But they looked strangely subdued. NUL was just plain quiet and appeared to have little to no team chemistry. They also seemed surprised by many of the questions, which admittedly were more difficult than the questions seen up to this point. However, that York's Giles was unable to answer the Lady Susan/Jane Austen question (or any of the other literature questions) was very surprising. Bachelor and Ms Smith left the strongest impression.

    And just like that the 1st round prelims are complete 😲- not wholly convinced by the winners - that 14/37 bonus rate is gonna have to improve for longevity in the 2nd Round. The HSL is also set - Trinity vs Southampton (as per the BBC) next week, which means Oxford Brookes vs Open must be the week after - should be a good couple of ties ;).

    Sad to see another year without either of my places of study represented.
    The pkace I went on ERASMUS to and now reside got in as an answer at least.
    Think York will need a kindly draw to progress much further considering some of the juggernaut performances we've seen. A little less nervous dithering now round 1 is out of the way may do them good.

    This match really shows the importance of having a well-balanced team. Northeastern needed somebody who had some science background. They did ok with the more humanistic questions--not so good in the sciences. Neither team scored many points. The winner will have a tough road in the next round.

    Why do people buzz in when, with the other team having already conceded five points, they could listen to the whole of the question withiut interruption?

    • @shoaibmemon8788
      @shoaibmemon8788 วันที่ผ่านมา

      the reason why a contestant doesnt listen to the whole answer is because he has understood the question and knows the answer,
      he thinks if i wait for the host to finish the question and someone from my team might quickly jumps in and give a wrong answer (Note: a contestant only does that in a situation if he feels that he either knows the answer to this particular question or he feels that his guess would be an educated one)

    Thanks for posting. I’ve enjoyed UC since the Bamber days and although I like the manner of this new presenter I find his pronunciation a bit annoying at times. Somehow he makes “medal” sound very like “meadow”. Is that a regional thing ? I lived in uk for my first 30 years and don’t recall hearing that. But I still love the show. Thanks again. !
