    man, watched all your videos, so good. I travelled in Tasmania the past 4 months and got into fishing from zero experience. I’ve only been doing bait fishing atm, but havnt tried much hard body lure fishing. I also just got back to Sydney and travelling up north in a few weeks, can’t wait to try and play around with hardbodies. Your video really got me inspired and hyped up 👍🏼

    Looking at the Penn Prevail 2, 9'6" like yours. Any opinion on the 902SH...9' but 15-25lbs. Is giving up 6" for the extra strength using an 8000 reel, worth it?

    • @bugsyfishing
      @bugsyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got the 902SPH and I use it with a 14000 size reel with 50lb braid. Works well with heavier lures. The 9'6" with a 6000 size reel is better for casting lighter lures in the 40 - 65 gram range. Much more distance. I'm not familiar with the 902SH. Hope that helps. I found the 9'6" is good for spinning but it isn't very good for shore jigging hard to get a good action. I actually upgraded to a 9'8" Oceans Legacy Specialist PE2-4 for shore jigging lures up to 80 gram. It has a way better action for that. But the 9'6" Prevail is still a good rod for spinning lures for sure

      Hi Sir can you recommend me a rig for fishing just like yours pls planning to fish bonitos

    • @bugsyfishing
      @bugsyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@peterjamesnopia2292 a 9 foot plus rod with a 6000 size reel and PE3 braid with 40lb monofilament trace is a good all round set up. Will be able to land some kingfish with that too. Go for a 10 foot rod if you want to do shore jigging too

    • @linhan1845
      @linhan1845 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@bugsyfishing Hi mate, may I ask why 9'6 is not good for shore jigging action? Is it because of the length or the blanks action? Will 10' help or better to get a dedicated shore jigging rod?

    • @bugsyfishing
      @bugsyfishing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@linhan1845 yeah, it really depends on the action but it is length too. Depends on what weight jigs you are using too. I have a 9'8" PE2-4 rod and it works fine for jigging but a 10ft rod would work better in my opinion. That extra length helps with giving the jig action. But I catch fish on the 9'8" rod so it an incremental difference but the next shore jigging rod I purchase will be around 10ft for sure. Talk to your local tackle shop.

  • @joshzfishing
    @joshzfishing 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you think a Pe 1-3 rod would do the job for shorejigging with PE 2.5 or 3 saltiga braid for bonito off the rocks?

    • @bugsyfishing
      @bugsyfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Josh, for sure. Even the PE2 Saltiga 12 strand would be good with that set up. Breaks at 36lb. I'd run a 40lb monofilament or fluorocarbon leader

      Cheers brother. I was surprised by that bonito too. Yes, definitely need to have a healthy respect for the power of the ocean. I wear a life jacket, rock cleats on my shoes, light clothing that I could swim in if necessary, I fish with others and we keep a close eye on each other and the conditions. • @bugsyfishing
      @bugsyfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timmytwinkletoes2203 Both good reels, but from my experience I would choose the Stradic SW 6000XG. It seems to be slightly better quality overall, the drag feels smoother and the anti-reverse feels stronger for some reason. Couple it with Daiwa 12 Strand PE 2.5 braid, 40-60lb mono leader and you have a solid reel for most of the kingfish you will encounter in Sydney. For snapper I use a smaller reel and 20lb braid, 20lb fluorocarbon leader
