- This one's a little bit different insofar as this is part 2 of getting the Sony HVR-M15 HDV back up and running and we get a lot closer to doing that in this video. There is a brief guest appearance from a Goodmans GMD-16RB Minidisc player too which I suddenly worried I'd left the battery in for years!
The back tension band; I ended up using super glue which worked really well. I also didn't put the stills of the video head chips as the photos are not nearly as good as the live view!
Massive thanks to @Televid4 and @farr64 .

HI, Alex. Always happy to help. The best thing to do now would be to check the guide posts just in case the they have come out of alignment. Also check that the tape is threading correctly around the posts. The back tension arm can cause the picture to distort and lose video image. You can slightly with your finger apply pressure on the arm post to see if the image corrects itself. If it does, then you may need to replace the back tension with a new one. The SMD caps also do give this type of fault where video image will appear intermittently and distorted. All the best.Thanks...
Thank you so much. Lacing is good, guide posts check OK. Heads look good although there does seem to be 'something' on the leading edge on the drum ahead of one of the chips which I'm dreading trying to get rid of! I'll do that though and then test and then look at the SMD caps... Another video to come soon on this machine and thanks gain for all your help - it is so appreciated.
Hi Alex. Yes I’d find the short try out videos of your recent acquisitions very interesting, to know what you have coming up. Interesting to see that head cleaning tape, I’ve bought one identical & was concerned it might be a fake, though the seller had 100% feedback. Not had to use it on my DV decks yet though, as a bit of ff & rew picture search has always cleared the clogs, that do exhibit in the same way as this HDV, stripes of missing data. Another terrific video 👍 . Cheers, Rob.
Hi Rob, yes, those cassettes are good and do the trick in keeping these machines up and running. I have already started to record the hort series on a quick look at many machines I have here and they'll be out shortly. 😊
💯🇹🇷⭐️👍
Thank you. 😊
The AE model is the particularly valuable one, the A version doesn't support 1080p.
Not surprised your commenting being into this VHS trash!! 🗑️👎
Great info there - thank you so much for sharing. Still earning about these machines (when I get time!).
