Some Garnet Silk Institution should have long been erected in his name. No Doubt: Garnet made a mark on the conscience of all Jamaicans. More over, his conscious Rastafarian faith was pure and free to see by everyone around him. Most Jamaicans knew then that when they heard that man's voice they become drawn to his message of love, self-belief and cultural - spiritual awareness. Garnet moved me the first time I saw him live in Bronx New York City. I saw him at that time eclipsing the presence of the Marley Children who were the main act during his first live performance Internationally. It is a pity he was poor and soon if he had gotten the chance to become rich from his career he would have helped not only his parents, but everyone in his district and parish. One could see the kindness and calmness in this man. And, just right that when I listened to his songs I feel that same calmness, too. So! I think that it is time that Jamaica has some preservation of Garnet for his calmness and spiritual consciousness he has left behind for young singers to follow.

I love your comment but I would replace Jamaica with the world ive been listening to Garnet since I was a young girl in primary school and at 32 his music still calms me when im in a "mood" I always always draw for my Garnet Silk I tend to think from time to time how influential would he still have been today had he been alive or if the world would have influenced him instead... I love to believe that he would have remained faithful to himself but I still think that the legend of his music and who he was still lives on today I was 9 when he died and one may say what such a young child and a girl at that knew about what he was saying even if I didnt know exactly then I knew his songs verbatim then as I do now and they are still life changing ya know. Jamaica has a greatness that is reggae muaic though I just love it

. I've been expressing the same sentiments ever since I was a teen, when Garnet passed. Garnet is the absolute best in my book! There has been none like him since, although we have had some good/great artiste that has emerged, we haven't seen any with the vocal ability, spiritual presence, conviction/sincerity of spirit(which I think is key as a conscious artiste), and the ability to pull in an audience with his emotive vocal styling. Garnet in my opinion is in a class by himself. With all due respect to all the legends of the past, and the present Generation, Garnet's impact in such a short period of time was immense!! He clearly stood out from the rest! He swung the balance of the music back to where, conscious, uplifting songs were topping the charts, and the most hardcore artistes would love to be on a song with him or have him bless there sessions. Also, everyone wanted to be Rasta after Garnet took the lead, (Buju, Capleton,Luciano, and numerous others), It became fashionable again. Not to mention, the numerous imitators of the Garnet Silk sound. In my humble opinion, Garnet is Jamaica's finest, and I've been debating that since a kid against elders twice or three times my age. REST iN POWER & LOVE, REGGAE'S ARK ANGEL

One good thing about Corona: I've been mad busy in the studio and got several new 90s Dancehall riddims ready. Come check 'em.
