Jonna, I've been to a number of German Christmas markets and I'm amazed by your restraint! Your purchases are lovely and that cowl is going to be gorgeous.
Thanks Jonna! You look so cute in your hand knits and puffy coat! I hope you will get to recreate some of those German recipes soon while they are fresh in your memory. I look forward to seeing your cashmere poncho.🎄❤
Hi Jonna, my mother in law was German, I am Swedish and my husband is 50/50. We live in Vienna Austria since 2001 and our kids are “European”. Anyway my mother in law grew up close to where these “Weihnachts Pyramiden” (Christmas Pyramide) are traditionally made “Erzgebirge” is the name of the area. It is super duper traditional. And yes the name pyramide is the real word for them 🧑🏻🎄❤️
Jonna, I've never heard of those things called "pyramids". I've always called them "candle carousels" and, of course, you can find them at all different price points. Also, the "spikes" on a star are called "points". Your trip sounds great!
Hello from germany, these stars are called: Herrenhuter Sterne! They are really very famous and tradionel❤🎄Fröhliche Weihnachten und alles, alles Gute fürs neue Jahr 🫶 Martina
The pyramid… we have those in Sweden too, a very old tradition. Translated word by word we call them “Angel play” - sounds wonderful translated to German though ;) “Engelspiel”…. Much better than pyramid
So far as I know pyramids are the correct name, I don't recall them being called anything else (Weihnachtspyramide - Christmas pyramid). They have a long history.
Same! I am wondering if I shouldn't splurge on more yarn to make it a little longer. I wasn't sure what I was going to make when I purchased it. We'll see how long I can make it before I run out....and IF I can find that random grey ball!!
@ we also use a lot of ginger and garlic and don’t use the little dish thingy. Large grater, microplane, garlic press, and plain old chopping work best for us.
Love hearing about your trip! The poncho will be beautiful! Crazy question…looks like you have cushions protecting your couch. Can you share where you got them/how they are attached? Also love the texture on your sofa - if you can share the brand I’d appreciate it. Thank you in advance!
Hi! Sure, I really love them because the couch is white and we have Teddy and the kids! They are sofa throws. I bought these at Arhaus. I've also seen them on Greenrow.com. Mine have to be dry-cleaned but so far, they've held up well and they look rather Christmassy with the red pillows! They have fabric ties but I don't use them. The couch also came from Arhaus. The fabric is a bouclé called "neo" in the color cream. It is very comfortable!

Love the magnetic nativity scene! It's lovely to have momentos from our travels. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome back, Jonna! Sounds like you had a fabulous time. Your cowl is going to be stunning! 🌻🎄
Thank you!

Well, if I had it to do over again, I would have brought and EXTRA suitcase!! I was limited by the number of bags I could carry!
Thanks Jonna! You look so cute in your hand knits and puffy coat! I hope you will get to recreate some of those German recipes soon while they are fresh in your memory. I look forward to seeing your cashmere poncho.🎄❤
I am making a Quarkkuchen, glühwein, and gingerbread cookies!

Thank you! I expected something with more letters and harder to pronounce! I wish I had had more room in my suitcase to get one for myself. xoxo Jonna

Points is much better! Thank you. It's easy to get tripped up when I'm on camera!

I agree!!! I wanted them to be called something fancy!
The cowl is going to be beautiful. Love your decorations. 🇬🇧
Hope you brought a lovely present back for Kim 😊

Can't wait to see the final cowl! ❤

I have not been to Germany yet but it’s on our list for next year. So nice to see your pictures. I hope you sleep better tonight. 💖🎄🎅🏼
It was such a magical trip, I hope you enjoy it too!
Thanks for sharing what you purchased in the Christmas markets. They are beautiful and will continue to give you great memories every year.
It was really a magical experience!
The garlic/ginger grater dishes are available at street fairs in NYC - I bought one there on a previous vacation so you made the right choice.
Good to know! Do you use yours? I cook with a lot of ginger and garlic. I usually use my microplane grater.

4:19 they calld candles spinner or carousel. I bought similar on amazon for my daughter
They really spin fast!!
