Very powerful video!! I am 90 days in w/out twisting my hair and it has not been easy because you get so use to twisting!! But I told myself I would only retwist every season.. So I will embrace this Journey. Thank you for the very informative video. #loveandlight
Thank you so much Nichole! Oh wow, that's amazing... that you've challenged yourself and pushed through. I love that concept of retwisting with each season - I've not heard that approach before. I appreciate you for sharing that here with me. You are most welcome. I hope my content continues to serve you well 🤓❤🌿
I have been on my lock journey for 28 years and yes, it is a journey and every persons journey is different. I have very fine duck fluffy hair that has to be re-twisted or it will just sit on my head, break off or try and run away to the loc next to it 🤣. I learned the hard way that free forming is not for my locs and had to attach more than I care to talk about to the loc next to it. Anyway, I learned that my locs will always have an inch and sometimes an inch and a half of unlocked hair at the head due to growth and change. Oily scalp so I wash my locs every three weeks, re-twist every 9 to 12 weeks. Moisturize once a week. this works for me but it took time for me to get where I am today with my locks. I learned to oil my locs when they are wet cause they do love the water and a little oil keeps them soft and supple. If I oil them when they are dry, they will stay dry, drawn in and look crazy. For those who want thicker locs, it all depends on genetics. How many hairs grow on you head determines the thickness. You can't change that so, get over it and love what you have. I love my locs!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with me. I love that you focus on what's right for you and yours, it is so important. Continue to love on yourself and your locs will love on you 🌿🌿😊😊
Your so generous!! I been going back through all of the material that you have made. I didnt know nothing about how to take care are give my locs what they need. We really about to take off now!!
My first set of locs was 2008. This is my first set.. 2024. I've learned to let it go, more than I ever thought I would. Enjoying the process and the journey. Looking in the mirror and loving it.
Hi Olivia!! I came across your page and couldn't believe I finally see someone whose hair is just like mine. Needless to say I immediately subscribed. I'm 2 years (on December 17th this year) locked. Love how you cleared up the retwist dilemma. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. 😊
Hey =) Thank you. I really appreciate you for taking the time to watch my videos and enjoying the content. Welcome new subscriber! I took a break from posting content but will be back soon to share more and updates, which I hope you like too. My loc anniversary is on December 16th, so we're close. I'll be 3 years this year. Understanding unravelling and retwisting was one of the best lessons I learned early on, as it help to manage my expectations better.

@@oliviadhinds like where my bud is there’s long strands of hair coming out it’s hard to explain but it’s not as bad anymore bc iv wrapped the lose hair around the dread
I hear you. This is one of the reasons why I started talking about this in terms of locs as there seems to be this expectation/assumption that maintenance will "last" 😅🌿 I chose to be free from that kind of pressure a long time go.
Here's the video where I share my retwist schedule and frequency: th-cam.com/video/kVi-XYIa7YE/w-d-xo.html It's a personal choice how often someone maintains their hair/locs 🤓

THANK YOU!!!
You're welcome! 🧡🌿
Luv the video
Thanks! I'm glad this content is useful to you =)
U are so right
I'm glad my explanation has made sense and hopefully helps people to manage their expectations of their locs and how they develop.
Hmm I was actually looking for you on you tube.
Here I am 🤓
I just started my no retwist journey , it didn’t serve me purpose. My hair I’m twist 2@1/2 weeks … so I’m like no retwist
I'm currently on a 10-12 week retwist cycle as of this year (2023) and I LOVE IT!
Do u have somewhere I can send u a pic I got a question about my locs

My hair is starting to come out of my buds ? Not all of them but some is that bad ? Is it bc I have split ends ?
Hey.. what do you mean by come out of the buds?
@@oliviadhinds like where my bud is there’s long strands of hair coming out it’s hard to explain but it’s not as bad anymore bc iv wrapped the lose hair around the dread
I'm glad you found a solution =)
Most styles in general don’t last longer than 2 weeks rather relaxed or natural. There is literally no difference

Your hair is beautiful, I don’t retwist. My hair is fuller and beautiful.
Thank you. And I'm pleased you're doing what's right for you and loving the experience ☺️🌿🧡
so retwist one time in a year??
