the line “i think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad and that must be why” always hurts me. i didn’t grow up in an abusive house, but the innocence of not knowing why a parent is mad all the time hurts no matter what

I believe she didn't even have pictures with her friend, since she said she can't remember her face. All she has is memories of the time they've spent together
no but seriously this part "i've been meaning to tell you i think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad and that must be why, and i think you should come live with me and we can be pirates, then you won't have to cry or hide in the closet" got me crying, it just hits way too close to home :(
Does anyone else imagine singing this to their child selves? This song feels like a bitter sweet hug to your inner child. Child me I hope you know you didn’t do anything wrong, it’s not your fault you had the world on your shoulders
This is such a sad song about a child’s viewpoint of having a friend grow up in an abusive household. That innocence, secrecy, imagination, and lightheartedness is captured perfectly

If y'all notice, Taylor arranged these following tracks in this song like this: 1. the 1 (its the first one so she put it first. 7. seven (its called seven and she made it the 7th track) 8. august (august is the 8th month of the year) please do tell me in the replies if you have a theory for the other songs... ❤
@@gergoeskalaije3782The producers basically decided “we need this song for this scene because it fits Darcy’s storyline so well” and wrote to Swift’s team with clips. She was so moved by it that she let them have the licensing at a discount.

One of my three favorite Taylor Swift songs. I relate to every single syllable. It actually hurts how much I adore this song and the woman who wrote it.
"I think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad that must be why" "then you wont have to cry or hide in the closet" Damn she didn't have to hit us with that

Hadn't been a fan of Taylor's output for 5 years, but Because i was curious the Bon Iver feature so i decided to listen to Exile and almost cried so now I'm here
This song is about her friend who was in an abusive and toxic home relationship, but since she was seven she didn’t realize what was happening, hence the child like innocence of lyrics such as “pack your dolls and a sweater, well move to india forever”
SEVEN is the seventh track of the album and it comes just before AUGUST which is the eighth track - just like the seventh month of JULY comes before AUGUST! Applause to the detail oriented queen Taylor Swift!
My friend told me this song reminds her of me, and I now I’m listening to it again (though I’ve listened to it many times within the album) and I have realized that for her I’m the one singing as her parents are abusive and I have told her that she can runaway and live with me. So now I’m crying because this song has a whole new meaning to me, and I work every day to continue to be there for her in hopes that she will be able to get away as soon as she’s 18. I just had to share this with someone, even if it’s the void of the internet. And if anyone else relates to this song like my friend does, please know that there are people who love and care about you and your existence and if you don’t think that’s true, let me tell you no that I love you and hope that you find safety and refuge soon
Me too and and I finally found my refuge and love in my boyfriend. It's comforting to me that your parents and family background don't need to be so much i.portant im your
The lyrics are bittersweet, not sad. This song doesn't focus on an abused child but the love children have for each other and want to help who they love. I teach high school but have taught grades 2-12 and have often witnessed how sweet children can be, and how clearly they can see things for what they are, before the fog of puberty and the confusion of teenage life hits. When she sings "But I knew everything when I was young" in Cardigan, I completely understand what she's singing about. I get welled up tears in my eyes every single time I hear this song. It reminds me of all the little souls I have taught and their stories. And yes, if you want to know if your teacher remembers you after you've grown up...yes we do. ❤ 💙 💜
Do you ever think that when Taylor writes certain lines she just cries at what she's created? Some lines in her songs instantly put me to tears. I wonder if she feels the same.
OMG, this song in the scene with heartstopper was absolutely magical🤧💕. I can't stop tearing up a bit listening to this song especially the part "then you won't have to cry or hide in the closet". I cannot express how happy I am to know as well that Taylor loved that scene that she offered her song for it. Ackkkk!!! Heartstopper+Taylor = Magic❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
For those who didn't know, this song is about one of Taylor’s childhood friends who seemed to have an unhappy life at home. Taylor reflects back on her innocence back then, how she thought the problems could be easily solved.
@@sunaina8441 I think it's true.. I read it in a website a while ago which explained about the song. After looking at the lyrics, this song seemed to be about Taylor’s childhood or a friend from her youth.
She said on instagram that this album is all about random characters that she came up with and wrote songs about, hence why the album's called folklore
for a person like me who lives in a mentally abusive environment this song feels like she is singing it to me🥀. Edit : There are 588 likes over here which hurts me more because there are more people who go through shit like me everyday, but all I want to say is "Hang in there, we're all strong, everything will be fine, it's just the matter of time.🥀"
Just look at the number of people that are excited about the "We'll move to India" part of the lyrics. This just goes to show how big of a fanbase she has in India. You have to come to India now Taylor.
Taylor Swift Lyrics "seven" Please picture me In the trees I hit my peak at seven Feet In the swing Over the creek I was too scared to jump in, but I, I was high In the sky With Pennsylvania under me Are there still beautiful things? Sweet tea in the summer Cross your heart, won't tell no other And though I can't recall your face I still got love for you Your braids like a pattern Love you to the moon and to Saturn Passed down like folk songs The love lasts so long And I've been meaning to tell you I think your house is haunted Your dad is always mad and that must be why And I think you should come live with Me and we can be pirates Then you won't have to cry Or hide in the closet And just like a folk song Our love will be passed on Please picture me In the weeds Before I learned civility I used to scream Ferociously Any time I wanted I, I Sweet tea in the summer Cross my heart, won't tell no other And though I can't recall your face I still got love for you Pack your dolls and a sweater We'll move to India forever Passed down like folk songs Our love lasts so long
i had a traumatic childhood growing up, yet i never really realized it until a couple years ago. this song, in my interpretation, is between seven year old me and me now. swings, sweet tea summer, braids, dolls, playing in the trees and weeds, and creeks were a huge part of my childhood, they were things that i loved. although my memory is fuzzy, and my childhood is a blur, i still love my younger self with everything in me, and i miss her more than anything. the bridge is something i feel like my younger self would say to present me. she wouldn’t understand the trauma i have been put through, and she would just want to play to make me happy. this song is criminally underrated. it’s so nostalgic, sad, sweet, and beautiful. my favorite song off of folklore.
"please picture me in the weeds before I learned civility" I'm taking Literature right now and honestly, my teacher would probably wet himself because of how awesome and compact this one line is. Weeds are wild and she wants to be remembered when she was in that state (that could be compared to a child- which basically ties in with this song) instead of her when she's an adult- "before I learned civility"; "I hit my peak at seven"
and it goes "I used to scream ferociously, everytime I wanted" The line is so powerful, unique and from a person who is in love with Literature to another, I feel your teacher. Swift is one of the greatest lyricists of this century.
It wasn’t until this song played in Heartstopper that I started sobbing during those scenes. I could feel Darcy’s pain, and everything that followed after was so beautifully sad and sweet. This song was the perfect choice. 💚💚💚
This song is like Wendy Darling and Peter Pan writing letters to each other. “... and though I can't recall your face, I still got love for you...” -Wendy grew up but still remembers Peter “You can always come with me and we can be pirates...” -Peter can take her to Neverland “Please picture me in the weeds before I learn civility.” -before Wendy grows up “But I was high in the sky...” -Wendy reminiscing flying “Passed down like folk songs, the love lasts so long.” -Wendy telling Peter's story to her children who would also pass it to their own. -Just a thought.
A childhood friend of mine was murdered by her boyfriend this year. This song takes me back to being seven with her, playing in the trees without a care in the world. May she rest in peace
Finallyy someone acknowledges this piece of lyric! when I heard this album for the first time, this line struck me like a lightning bolt!! Because for me, it was a journey from being a neurotic crying person( due to depression) to a sober stable person. Its like I learnt civility after being crazy.
i cannot describe how this song makes me feel, this entire album is incredible. i love how the song brings this feeling of innocence but also childhood trauma and wanting to escape, it’s genuinely so beautiful and the instrumental is everything.
I feel like THIS Taylor Swift is the Taylor i've been waiting for my whole life. her potential at highest peak, for me personally feels like this. evermore and folklore are just pure masterpieces like never before.
"It's the age of princesses and pirate ships And the seven dwarfs And Daddy's smart And you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world" from The Best Day. Even 12 years later some themes stay with you forever.
"This song is about one of Taylor’s childhood friends who seemed to have an unhappy life at home. Taylor reflects back on her innocence back then, how she thought the problems could be easily solved."
"I love you to the moon and the Saturn" is it just me or have anybody notice this lyrics. ( Saturn has seven distinctive rings, and the title of the song is SEVEN) she's literally a genius.
I know no one will see this, but I just want to say Thank You, Taylor. I’ve recently started freshman year of high school, and I’m getting those hopeless and depressed mindsets and attitudes and what not. I been a similar experience 2 years ago, and listening to Billie Eilish really helped me through it. But as a new chapter of my life begins, my tastes tend to shift. I’ve loved willow by Taylor ever since it first came out, but I’ve only just recently discovered her entire folklore and evermore albums. I’ve loved Taylor ever since 2014, but these are the first albums that resonate with me and my wounded spirit, especially seven. Seven doesn’t accurately describe what I’m going through right now, but the line about wishing for happy times and memories describes what I’m going through on the nose. I still have a such a long way to go before I do again feel happy, but she’s with me the entire ride. I just know it. Thank you, Taylor. For all that you’ve done, and what you have contributed in my life 💚
Unpopular opinion but this will forever be my favourite TS song. It’s just so beautiful, I love the strings and it gives such a feeling of melancholy, of nostalgia, the nostalgia towards those younger years when you were innocent and you could do whatever you wanted to do. You can just imagine the childhood love that she’s talking about perfectly and to me it makes me think of my childhood best friend. It has some of my favourite lyrics ever, “passed down like folk songs, our love lasts so long”, “I hit my peak at seven - feet”, “Before I learned civility, I used to scream ferociously anytime I wanted” and even “Though I can’t recall your face I still got love for you”, there’s just something about that line that speaks to me so deeply.
I 100% agree. It invokes so much nostalgia. I am born and raised in Pennsylvania about 90 mins from where Taylor grew up, so that addition to the song makes me love it so much more!
This is for the ones who grew up in abusive households. Who watched their parent's marriage dissolve. Screaming, shouting...This one's for us. She did it for us

7. seven (its called seven and she made it the 7th track)
8. august (august is the 8th month of the year)

This song is so comforting even though the meaning is dark
Just take it SLOW. 😊
SEVEN is the seventh track of the album and it comes just before AUGUST which is the eighth track - just like the seventh month of JULY comes before AUGUST! Applause to the detail oriented queen Taylor Swift!
Also the one is first track
May be a stretch but illicit affairs is the tenth song and Taylor has had ten relationships in her career
Wow, didn’t even notice that 😅🤣👏
the best part (personally) is my bday is on 7th august💀
Applause to you as well for bringing it up!
I'm just letting you know that I saw this and I care. I'll be praying for you and your friend.

This song has a special place in my heart. It sends me back to my melancholic childhood, and it's as if I am singing it to the sad child that I was.

For those who didn't know, this song is about one of Taylor’s childhood friends who seemed to have an unhappy life at home. Taylor reflects back on her innocence back then, how she thought the problems could be easily solved.

Taylor Swift Lyrics
"seven"
Please picture me
In the trees
I hit my peak at seven
Feet
In the swing
Over the creek
I was too scared to jump in, but I, I was high
In the sky
With Pennsylvania under me
Are there still beautiful things?
Sweet tea in the summer
Cross your heart, won't tell no other
And though I can't recall your face
I still got love for you
Your braids like a pattern
Love you to the moon and to Saturn
Passed down like folk songs
The love lasts so long
And I've been meaning to tell you
I think your house is haunted
Your dad is always mad and that must be why
And I think you should come live with
Me and we can be pirates
Then you won't have to cry
Or hide in the closet
And just like a folk song
Our love will be passed on
Please picture me
In the weeds
Before I learned civility
I used to scream
Ferociously
Any time I wanted
I, I
Sweet tea in the summer
Cross my heart, won't tell no other
And though I can't recall your face
I still got love for you
Pack your dolls and a sweater
We'll move to India forever
Passed down like folk songs
Our love lasts so long

i had a traumatic childhood growing up, yet i never really realized it until a couple years ago. this song, in my interpretation, is between seven year old me and me now. swings, sweet tea summer, braids, dolls, playing in the trees and weeds, and creeks were a huge part of my childhood, they were things that i loved. although my memory is fuzzy, and my childhood is a blur, i still love my younger self with everything in me, and i miss her more than anything. the bridge is something i feel like my younger self would say to present me. she wouldn’t understand the trauma i have been put through, and she would just want to play to make me happy. this song is criminally underrated. it’s so nostalgic, sad, sweet, and beautiful. my favorite song off of folklore.
this is such a beautiful interpretation of it, thank you for sharing this really hit home
"please picture me in the weeds before I learned civility"
I'm taking Literature right now and honestly, my teacher would probably wet himself because of how awesome and compact this one line is. Weeds are wild and she wants to be remembered when she was in that state (that could be compared to a child- which basically ties in with this song) instead of her when she's an adult- "before I learned civility"; "I hit my peak at seven"
I c u everywhere...
It’s actually before i learned civility i used to scream ferociously
following line with "passed down like folk songs, our love lasts so long" makes it more clear that she misses the world when she was young.
and it goes "I used to scream ferociously, everytime I wanted"
The line is so powerful, unique and from a person who is in love with Literature to another, I feel your teacher. Swift is one of the greatest lyricists of this century.
i didn't understand that line....

“Passed down like folk songs, the love lasts so long.” -Wendy telling Peter's story to her children who would also pass it to their own.
