Good review, Joe, & thanks for your thoughts. I owned an original GNS & so wanted to love it, but sold it after several months of use. Overall good knife, the handle was very comfortable in the hand & it is a sharp looking piece. However, after using Moras for years, I found the GNS to not perform as well for the feathering. I believe it is because for me the blade angle is different, so required holding it differently. I've had several other Scandi edge blades & for me that is the best angle. I'd like to see a comparison between the Genesis & the Scandi GNS if possible. Had the Scandi GNS been around from the start, I would have grabbed one & I'm sure would still have it. That review should be the benchmark for knife vids. Excellent job Joe! As similar as they are, you really do want both. Tough to explain to a "non-knife" person. I was looking at both, but couldn't remember why I went with the Genesis. After looking at your vid, I remember it was in the handle. I got the impression the scales were thicker. Too many of my smaller knives has thin handles. But, even having the Genesis, I still want the GNS. It's a classic Bushlore clone.

I like this review a lot. It's only in the last several months that I've started to take notice of LT Wright Knives. There are others in his line of blades that I also have an interest in but the Genesis and the GNS are a good beginning for me. I have a passion for knives, both hunter and bushcraft, and LT Wright Knives are nothing less than beautiful in every way. They are icons.
While this was helpful it has become dated as I have the GNS in AEB-L stainless steel and a scandi grind. I'd love to see a comparison of these knives with the same grind and steel but we can't expect you guys to have everything lol. Great video thank you for what you do!
Say Heah, A while ago I bought two Himalayan Imports M-43 Khukuris, The reason I got a smaller one because I wanted to carry it on person because it is lighter. The first one came with a black Buffalo Horn Handle which I ordered. The smaller one came with a White Bone handle, It's a beauty so I kept it. But I like to match knives in atleast pairs, I didn't have a white handle knife. I got a e-mail on a new knife from Battle Horse so I pulled a trigger on it because it's similar to your knives and I like those blade shapes, I have a Blind Horse Bushcrafter similar blade shapes, But the Attitude is a 5"+ blade which is great for me and I had it thinned down and a High Scandi Grind. Now I have a knife to match my white handle Khukuri. Believe me this video helped more than you think, Thanx.
I know this video is a year old, but I wanted to comment on what you said about the grip on the GNS. I have read that LT designed the grip so that when carving near the base of the blade you choke up on the knife and hook you thumb over the front of the grip. This gets the back of your hand higher on the grip and into the palm swell making it more comfortable to do things like push cuts. Have you ever tried using it that way?
Don't forget you can get both knives in either Scandi or Saber grind. So, it's really a choice of 4 knives. Unfortunately, I like the thinner tip of the GNS, but the handle of the Genesis. : )
+MrRapper85 I differ from most (I think) and I use the very tip for processing most of the game unless I am cutting deep into the meat so honestly they both work just as well. That being said, I'd choose the Genesis only b/c I prefer that handle. And thank you very much, I greatly appreciate it!

Great video, you just made my point and why my Benchmade Bushcrafter #162 is one of my fav's the saber grind is similar to the G.S.N. but as far as edge retention the S30V is a good one too.butvthen my Rod Garcia Skookum Bush Tool is a great slicer too and it's a scandi grind, I think it's all how thin the edge is too because my John Bradley World's Finest Camp Knife has a very thin full flat grind with a Zero Edge and talking about slicing, but as far as a stronger grind my fav is a saber vex grind, so my Benchmade Bushcrafter #162 is used alot but then so is my Blind Horse Bushcrafter grrrrrrrrrrrr I'm confused heh heh heh, should I go on heh heh heh.

Funny Joe. I measured my Genesis. My scales are coming in at 1" at the butt end. It seems to look more like the "one foot..." version without the liners. I wonder if, over the course of production, they changed the shape slightly, or is there a difference from one finisher to the next. My guess is the latter. I think the "one foot..." version is thicker primarily due to the liners. Again, excellent review.
northof50now I honestly couldn't tell you. I would imagine that there would be slight variations between knives as they are hand made. I have had 2 (regular) Genesis's and the handle felt the same on both but I didn't measure the first one. Thanks again!
Say Heah Joe, Yeah, We defenetly have similar taste. I had my Battle Horse modified, I had a Slight curve added to it by taking the high point on the pommel down and I had the droo point lowered giving it a slightly curved look . But by lowering the drop point it helps when I push cut with my thumb. I like a little more belly this helps me when I carve when doing some fine task's. I also got a high scandi this too allow's for a thinner apex gaining sone cutting adventage, I stropped a micro convex to help with adding strength too when I baton and stab and twistvmaking kindling, I don't like a sausage handle and the Attitude cines with a nice flaired pimmelband a hand swell, Just the way uh huh, uh huh I like it. I also got a white G-10 handle with blue liner's, It came out Beautiful, So I ordered a matching Mad Hatter and that came out as if a drubk boy scout made it, DISAPPOUNTED. !!! I guess there Moto is One Out Of Two Isn't Bad heh heh heh, Man then Atlanta 's kicking butt, nit a good day for me, I might have to take it easy with my cigar's or the new knives I was going to order grrrrrrrr. ,, .
I know its about a year late, but I was wondering what that "sheet" or bag is that you're kneeling on? I wont ask about the knives as I feel you have more than explained every a response to every question which might come into my mind about either knife. From the first video I saw you in (via Gaunlet TV), you were using it and I saw right away that you had a good thickness of material between yourself and the floor. Very important when it's cold and / or wet. Before you told me the name of it just now, I could see its value when knelt at the fire cooking or even just building the fire. Then most important of all, keeping your butt warm and dry whilst having a coffee ;) I suppose there are not enough bells and whistles attached to it. Seems that things "need" to have that something extra these days. Heaven knows why because since the days of plonking your butt on a patch of mammoth hide, simple has proven to be not only the best, but the least likely to fail as well! Perhaps it needs an "X" added to the name? Firecraft-X Pad, lol. I recently picked up a genesis. The shop I bought it from had the one foot in the wild edition and I really wanted that one but the handle was just too fat for me. I think it's the difference between no liners vs. liners. Really liked the sheath though.
+Garen Osborn Yep I concur. And the scales are rounded just a bit more to accommodate the the thickness of the liners as well. Ironically, I am constantly "complaining" about small handles due to my large hands, yet I didn't like the larger handle on the One Foot into the Wild edition because it was too fat. Weird, huh? How are you liking that Genesis?
That is definitely a good option. A better option for just a few more dollars is the Deer Creek Forge Kephart. It's a tad more expensive then the condor but a far better blade. Thanks!
+Matthew Jeffres Both in my opinion. The saber grind of the GNS would have a longer last edge I think but the Genesis has a bit more belly so it has pluses too. LT does make a Genesis in Flat grind and that would be a superb field dressing knife I think. Thanks for watching!
I am curious though, what would you say is your overall favorite knife grind for a general purpose knife? How about a bushcraft specific knife? I would like to get my hands on a full flat Genesis, or even a saber Genesis, not to mention the scandi GNS... I've got a bit of a knife "problem"... Thanks again!
That problem is a common condition many of us share lol. As to your question. Hmmm. For straight up bushcraft specific I'd have to go scandi all the way but saber isn't far behind. For general purpose saber is best for me. But again, I think "the best grind" is by in large user preference. Thanks again!
Feral Woodcraft I can see that. I certainly agree about user preferences. I will say that I'm really starting to warm up to a saber grind. I despised it when I first got the SRI knife, but several sabers later it's now pretty high on my general purpose knife list. Keep up the great channel!
Valid question. Don't hold me to this 100% but I believe the GNS was designed a collaboration between LT, Dave Canterbury, and SRI as the be all end all bushcraft/survival knife. It does look like it is influenced by the classic European Woodlore style but I have read nothing directly saying that it was. I wish I had a more specific answer for you but that is all I know; I hope it helps!

You did a great job on covering what each knife is capable of doing in handling wood, but you did not mention anything about sharpening the knives, or game processing, or camp chores. Unfortunately, I can only afford to buy one knife and to be quite honest with you, I can not even afford to do that at this time. I have several questions and if you have a chance to answer them, it would mean a great deal to me. First of all: Is it as hard to sharpen a Saber Grind in he field as people say? Is the Scandi grind really that much easier to hone up and sharpen in comparison? Which grind works better for game processing? Field dressing game? Skinning Game? Processing Game? Which grind works best at camp chores? Meal preparations such as cutting up potatoes, and vegetable? Slicing meats, fish, and cheese? Cutting cordage? In addition to processing wood, it very important to be able to maintain an edge in the field and to cut and process the fish, game, and wild edibles in which we harvest or pack in. I know I am asking a lot, but because you already have the experience with these two types of grinds, the question I have to ask is this? IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE ONE. I would have been interested in his reply. What did you end up getting, and why? I doubt I am sophisticated enough to notice any difference, as long as the knife is sharp and comfortable in the hand.
Have you since sharpened the micro bevel out of the Genesis? If so, have you noticed any real difference in performance? I ask because I was watching another youtube and knife maker use two knives that he made, both scandi but one had a micro and the other was zero ground and he noted that they performed as two very different knives. If I understand correctly, that makes perfect sense as by adding a micro bevel you are adding a small secondary that is more obtuse than the primary grind which is going to bite into the wood at a before a zero grind would. As an aside, from my own testing I find that something such as a full flat or saber, IE knives with a secondary will make, at least for me, narrower curls when feather sticking whereas a scandi tends to make wide feathers. Also, scandis seem to hog off wood like a plane blade. Anyway, just curious to hear your experiences if you have since zeroed the grind.
I've owned 2 Genesis scandi blades. 1 I removed it and 1 I didn't. Overall, I prefer the micro bevel. It, for me, has less over bite and is much more controllable. And I do agree with you. Saber, flat, and convex tell d make thinner curls much easier. That's not to say scandi can't do it but the more obtuse as you put it, the more easily they are controlled on the finer work. At least that's been my experience. Thanks!!

I have one of each I have a PT limited Genesis full flat with the micro bevel and I also have the Gns scandi both a excellent tools I do prefer the handle on my Genesis a bit more and the full flat do incredible at feather stick's and carving the scandi GNS how ever is a thicker blade so I feel in an abuse situation if it came down to that I would be less concerned not that I haven't done a fair amount of batoning with my Genesis just prefer to use my hand Axe in concordenence with the Genesis out side of the knife I designed Genesis is my favorite so far either way Lt wright makes an incredible tool and look forward to owning more want a Genesis scandi in the as you wish model when tax return makes it in
GNS Handle Style is called the: 'Border Patrol handle' (taken from Randall Knives). Examples include Terava Jarriikapuukko 110 and 140, Peltonen Sissipuukko M95 and some Randalls can be optioned with the handle. IMHO, it is the best handle in the world that gives the best compromise of heavy duty work (75%), then defence (25%). It is a very sure footed and comfortable handle IF done right and imo the GNS was NOT done right. The best working handles have no guards whatsoever, Lagom Bush Knife for example. Where MOSt manufactirers fail at Kepharts, Puukkos and most hard use knives is they make the handles too short. I would rather have a blade shorter than my handle. Blade 3.7". Handle 5". This is perfection for an EDC knife, IMO.

No, I haven't used an Enzo but I have been very tempted to grab one on many occasions. I've used a similar blade, the Entrek Forester and I absolutely loved it. I had a Bark River Aurora a couple years ago but gave it to a friend. Honestly, I miss it. It was a great blade and it could take a beating. I never had issue with chipping or had any sub par performance issues with it. Is there a particular model BR you're wanting information about?
I received my L.T. Wright Genesis yesterday. To say I'm disappointed is putting it mildly. When I removed it from it's paper wrap I noticed thin white marks on the handle that wouldn't wipe off. After closer inspection I realized they are cracks in the wood. There's a noticeable pit in the wood too. The white seems to be buffing compound embedded in those small cracks. The knife edge has more grind on one side making it uneven. The lanyard tube is unrefined on the inside making the edge sharp. The knife came sharp but not very sharp. Grinder marks on the edge also. As a bonus the sheath is rough as a brick on the inside. For $235.00 I have a knife that has been amateurishly and indifferently produced. My first and last L.T. Wright knife.
I really hate to hear that Billy and it honestly really surprises me. I have no idea how something like that could have slipped past their QC but I'm sure that LT would want to address it. May I suggest giving LT a call? LT's warrantee is one of the best in the business and I feel certain he'd work with you to make sure you are satisfied.
Thank you for your reply and advice. I used a .45 cal. bore brush on the sheath and it is now soft on the inside and as a whole the entire sheath more pliable after hand rubbing it with Neatsfoot oil. The knife is now sharp after elbow grease and water stones. I'll keep it but have no faith in that company. I can live with the handle imperfections. Take care.

+bushcraft fancy I apologize for the tardy response here, I've been offline for the holidays. Yep that will definitely do it. Careful with the strop though. If you do it too much, the slight give in the leather will allow for a slight convex to form. I know a lot of true zero ground scandi guys use either staged grits of super find sandpaper on a board or Japanese waterstones. I've used the former and it works well, but can be time consuming. The later I have not I am afraid. Please let me know how it turns out!
Ok,thanks for the reminder and I always keep a strop in my pack and have stropped my mora many times (and when i mean many I mean MANY times, I rarely have to sharpen my knives ) and have never even gotten close to a convex, maybe its because of the compound I use.
Great review, but since the Genesis and GNS both come in scandi grind, wouldn't it be a more fair and balanced comparison to have both knives in the same grind ? I understand you were showing the difference in the attributes of the blade grinds and your demonstration is excellent to that purpose, but it gives a false inpression of the two knife models the way it is presented. I know a little about L.T.Wright knives, I own a GNS scandi, but someone else might think the Genesis only came in a scandi grind and the GNS in a saber grind from watching this video . IMHO
I am pretty sure I covered that in there somewhere, maybe I didn't. It's been a long time since I filmed that. Anyway, those were the knives that I had at the time and folks were requesting it, so I answered with what I had and what they had been seeing on the channel.

Oh, I got my GSN in 3V, I wanted to put some of my touches, But Ekaine told me their not taking any custom orders, She told me they do that once a year and they are working to finish last cutom orderes so I got a GSN in the Coyote Black G-10 and a 3V Saber.,,.
looked at this video over and over and the saber will be better at push cuts to over the scandi if you knock of the shoulders on some stones brother just thin it above the cutting bevel :-)
+Modernbushcraft I actually did do that after this vid with the Worksharp Blade Grinder attachment. It worked so well. Though, I will say, no blade with a vex or a secondary will push cut as well as a scandi. A nice thin hollow ground blade can come close though. One of these days I am going to get a GNS again, I miss that blade. A buddy gave me an offer I couldn't refuse for the one shown here. Thanks!!
Have you used both of them to make statement like that? Both have totally different shape of the handles. Both must feel different when you hold them and when you use them. There's no question about that. Maybe you could say that it's not a big deal but for someone who's going to drop $180 on a tool, it matters.

Don't forget you can get both knives in either Scandi or Saber grind. So, it's really a choice of 4 knives.
Unfortunately, I like the thinner tip of the GNS, but the handle of the Genesis. : )

Great video, you just made my point and why my Benchmade Bushcrafter #162 is one of my fav's the saber grind is similar to the G.S.N. but as far as edge retention the S30V is a good one too.butvthen my Rod Garcia Skookum Bush Tool is a great slicer too and it's a scandi grind, I think it's all how thin the edge is too because my John Bradley World's Finest Camp Knife has a very thin full flat grind with a Zero Edge and talking about slicing, but as far as a stronger grind my fav is a saber vex grind, so my Benchmade Bushcrafter #162 is used alot but then so is my Blind Horse Bushcrafter grrrrrrrrrrrr I'm confused heh heh heh, should I go on heh heh heh.

Funny Joe. I measured my Genesis. My scales are coming in at 1" at the butt end. It seems to look more like the "one foot..." version without the liners. I wonder if, over the course of production, they changed the shape slightly, or is there a difference from one finisher to the next. My guess is the latter. I think the "one foot..." version is thicker primarily due to the liners. Again, excellent review.
northof50now I honestly couldn't tell you. I would imagine that there would be slight variations between knives as they are hand made. I have had 2 (regular) Genesis's and the handle felt the same on both but I didn't measure the first one. Thanks again!
Say Heah Joe, Yeah, We defenetly have similar taste. I had my Battle Horse modified, I had a Slight curve added to it by taking the high point on the pommel down and I had the droo point lowered giving it a slightly curved look . But by lowering the drop point it helps when I push cut with my thumb. I like a little more belly this helps me when I carve when doing some fine task's. I also got a high scandi this too allow's for a thinner apex gaining sone cutting adventage, I stropped a micro convex to help with adding strength too when I baton and stab and twistvmaking kindling, I don't like a sausage handle and the Attitude cines with a nice flaired pimmelband a hand swell, Just the way uh huh, uh huh I like it. I also got a white G-10 handle with blue liner's, It came out Beautiful, So I ordered a matching Mad Hatter and that came out as if a drubk boy scout made it, DISAPPOUNTED. !!! I guess there Moto is One Out Of Two Isn't Bad heh heh heh, Man then Atlanta 's kicking butt, nit a good day for me, I might have to take it easy with my cigar's or the new knives I was going to order grrrrrrrr. ,, .

+Feral Woodcraft Many thanks for that mate. I cant imagine what sensible reason any company would have for not wanting to be involved with your Firecraft Pad. From the first video I saw you in (via Gaunlet TV), you were using it and I saw right away that you had a good thickness of material between yourself and the floor. Very important when it's cold and / or wet. Before you told me the name of it just now, I could see its value when knelt at the fire cooking or even just building the fire. Then most important of all, keeping your butt warm and dry whilst having a coffee ;) I suppose there are not enough bells and whistles attached to it. Seems that things "need" to have that something extra these days. Heaven knows why because since the days of plonking your butt on a patch of mammoth hide, simple has proven to be not only the best, but the least likely to fail as well! Perhaps it needs an "X" added to the name? Firecraft-X Pad, lol.

I recently picked up a genesis. The shop I bought it from had the one foot in the wild edition and I really wanted that one but the handle was just too fat for me. I think it's the difference between no liners vs. liners. Really liked the sheath though.
+Garen Osborn Yep I concur. And the scales are rounded just a bit more to accommodate the the thickness of the liners as well. Ironically, I am constantly "complaining" about small handles due to my large hands, yet I didn't like the larger handle on the One Foot into the Wild edition because it was too fat. Weird, huh?

That is definitely a good option. A better option for just a few more dollars is the Deer Creek Forge Kephart. It's a tad more expensive then the condor but a far better blade. Thanks!

+Matthew Jeffres Both in my opinion. The saber grind of the GNS would have a longer last edge I think but the Genesis has a bit more belly so it has pluses too. LT does make a Genesis in Flat grind and that would be a superb field dressing knife I think. Thanks for watching!

That problem is a common condition many of us share lol.
As to your question. Hmmm. For straight up bushcraft specific I'd have to go scandi all the way but saber isn't far behind. For general purpose saber is best for me. But again, I think "the best grind" is by in large user preference. Thanks again!
Feral Woodcraft I can see that. I certainly agree about user preferences. I will say that I'm really starting to warm up to a saber grind. I despised it when I first got the SRI knife, but several sabers later it's now pretty high on my general purpose knife list. Keep up the great channel!
Is the GNS LT Wrights version of a Ray Mears Bushcraft Knife?
Valid question. Don't hold me to this 100% but I believe the GNS was designed a collaboration between LT, Dave Canterbury, and SRI as the be all end all bushcraft/survival knife. It does look like it is influenced by the classic European Woodlore style but I have read nothing directly saying that it was. I wish I had a more specific answer for you but that is all I know; I hope it helps!

You did a great job on covering what each knife is capable of doing in handling wood, but you did not mention anything about sharpening the knives, or game processing, or camp chores. Unfortunately, I can only afford to buy one knife and to be quite honest with you, I can not even afford to do that at this time. I have several questions and if you have a chance to answer them, it would mean a great deal to me.
First of all:
Is it as hard to sharpen a Saber Grind in he field as people say? Is the Scandi grind really that much easier to hone up and sharpen in comparison?
Which grind works better for game processing? Field dressing game? Skinning Game? Processing Game?
Which grind works best at camp chores? Meal preparations such as cutting up potatoes, and vegetable? Slicing meats, fish, and cheese? Cutting cordage?
In addition to processing wood, it very important to be able to maintain an edge in the field and to cut and process the fish, game, and wild edibles in which we harvest or pack in.
I know I am asking a lot, but because you already have the experience with these two types of grinds, the question I have to ask is this?
IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE ONE. WOULD YOU CHOOSE A SCANDI GRIND OR SABER GRIND?

I would have been interested in his reply. What did you end up getting, and why? I doubt I am sophisticated enough to notice any difference, as long as the knife is sharp and comfortable in the hand.
Have you since sharpened the micro bevel out of the Genesis? If so, have you noticed any real difference in performance? I ask because I was watching another youtube and knife maker use two knives that he made, both scandi but one had a micro and the other was zero ground and he noted that they performed as two very different knives. If I understand correctly, that makes perfect sense as by adding a micro bevel you are adding a small secondary that is more obtuse than the primary grind which is going to bite into the wood at a before a zero grind would.
As an aside, from my own testing I find that something such as a full flat or saber, IE knives with a secondary will make, at least for me, narrower curls when feather sticking whereas a scandi tends to make wide feathers. Also, scandis seem to hog off wood like a plane blade.
Anyway, just curious to hear your experiences if you have since zeroed the grind.
I've owned 2 Genesis scandi blades. 1 I removed it and 1 I didn't. Overall, I prefer the micro bevel. It, for me, has less over bite and is much more controllable. And I do agree with you. Saber, flat, and convex tell d make thinner curls much easier. That's not to say scandi can't do it but the more obtuse as you put it, the more easily they are controlled on the finer work. At least that's been my experience. Thanks!!

I have one of each I have a PT limited Genesis full flat with the micro bevel and I also have the Gns scandi both a excellent tools I do prefer the handle on my Genesis a bit more and the full flat do incredible at feather stick's and carving the scandi GNS how ever is a thicker blade so I feel in an abuse situation if it came down to that I would be less concerned not that I haven't done a fair amount of batoning with my Genesis just prefer to use my hand Axe in concordenence with the Genesis out side of the knife I designed Genesis is my favorite so far either way Lt wright makes an incredible tool and look forward to owning more want a Genesis scandi in the as you wish model when tax return makes it in
GNS Handle Style is called the: 'Border Patrol handle' (taken from Randall Knives). Examples include Terava Jarriikapuukko 110 and 140, Peltonen Sissipuukko M95 and some Randalls can be optioned with the handle. IMHO, it is the best handle in the world that gives the best compromise of heavy duty work (75%), then defence (25%). It is a very sure footed and comfortable handle IF done right and imo the GNS was NOT done right. The best working handles have no guards whatsoever, Lagom Bush Knife for example. Where MOSt manufactirers fail at Kepharts, Puukkos and most hard use knives is they make the handles too short. I would rather have a blade shorter than my handle. Blade 3.7". Handle 5". This is perfection for an EDC knife, IMO.

No, I haven't used an Enzo but I have been very tempted to grab one on many occasions. I've used a similar blade, the Entrek Forester and I absolutely loved it.
I had a Bark River Aurora a couple years ago but gave it to a friend. Honestly, I miss it. It was a great blade and it could take a beating. I never had issue with chipping or had any sub par performance issues with it. Is there a particular model BR you're wanting information about?

I received my L.T. Wright Genesis yesterday. To say I'm disappointed is putting it mildly. When I removed it from it's paper wrap I noticed thin white marks on the handle that wouldn't wipe off. After closer inspection I realized they are cracks in the wood. There's a noticeable pit in the wood too. The white seems to be buffing compound embedded in those small cracks. The knife edge has more grind on one side making it uneven. The lanyard tube is unrefined on the inside making the edge sharp. The knife came sharp but not very sharp. Grinder marks on the edge also. As a bonus the sheath is rough as a brick on the inside.
For $235.00 I have a knife that has been amateurishly and indifferently produced. My first and last L.T. Wright knife.

I really hate to hear that Billy and it honestly really surprises me. I have no idea how something like that could have slipped past their QC but I'm sure that LT would want to address it. May I suggest giving LT a call? LT's warrantee is one of the best in the business and I feel certain he'd work with you to make sure you are satisfied.
Thank you for your reply and advice. I used a .45 cal. bore brush on the sheath and it is now soft on the inside and as a whole the entire sheath more pliable after hand rubbing it with Neatsfoot oil. The knife is now sharp after elbow grease and water stones. I'll keep it but have no faith in that company. I can live with the handle imperfections. Take care.

+bushcraft fancy I apologize for the tardy response here, I've been offline for the holidays. Yep that will definitely do it. Careful with the strop though. If you do it too much, the slight give in the leather will allow for a slight convex to form. I know a lot of true zero ground scandi guys use either staged grits of super find sandpaper on a board or Japanese waterstones. I've used the former and it works well, but can be time consuming. The later I have not I am afraid. Please let me know how it turns out!
Ok,thanks for the reminder and I always keep a strop in my pack and have stropped my mora many times (and when i mean many I mean MANY times, I rarely have to sharpen my knives ) and have never even gotten close to a convex, maybe its because of the compound I use.
Great review, but since the Genesis and GNS both come in scandi grind, wouldn't it be a more fair and balanced comparison to have both knives in the same grind ? I understand you were showing the difference in the attributes of the blade grinds and your demonstration is excellent to that purpose, but it gives a false inpression of the two knife models the way it is presented. I know a little about L.T.Wright knives, I own a GNS scandi, but someone else might think the Genesis only came in a scandi grind and the GNS in a saber grind from watching this video . IMHO
I am pretty sure I covered that in there somewhere, maybe I didn't. It's been a long time since I filmed that. Anyway, those were the knives that I had at the time and folks were requesting it, so I answered with what I had and what they had been seeing on the channel.

+Modernbushcraft I actually did do that after this vid with the Worksharp Blade Grinder attachment. It worked so well. Though, I will say, no blade with a vex or a secondary will push cut as well as a scandi. A nice thin hollow ground blade can come close though. One of these days I am going to get a GNS again, I miss that blade. A buddy gave me an offer I couldn't refuse for the one shown here. Thanks!!

Have you used both of them to make statement like that? Both have totally different shape of the handles. Both must feel different when you hold them and when you use them. There's no question about that. Maybe you could say that it's not a big deal but for someone who's going to drop $180 on a tool, it matters.
