The NCF is my 'go to' place when I want to hear views that I firmly believe reflect those of the vast majority of the citizens of the UK. There's nothing radical here, nothing extreme. If the nhs hadn’t become so politically PC and followed traditional guidelines such as ward sisters who had high standards with nurses and doctors who maintained the high standards we might not be in such a mess. Nowadays it’s almost impossible to tell who is patient and who is staff. The “scrubs “ so called uniform is an absolute disgrace in its scruffiness. Hair not being tied back and the wearing of jewellery were considered a risk of cross infection. As is going outside in uniform, risking bringing infection in and taking it out to the public. It’s not bloody rocket science to understand that! Also you couldn’t get into nursing if you were more than 10% above your normal body weight.aAnd don’t even get me started about the degree training . You’ve always had to half a brain to be competent RN but you didn’t need a degree under the traditional type training. The degree is not producing enough work ready RNs and the training has gone way downhill. Interesting also to note that it’s now easier than ever to get accepted into nursing than it was under the traditional system , the academic entry requirements were always stringent. Consequently now it is often attracting the wrong type of person. It is not just a job! Apologies for the rant, but just feel that society as a whole has lost the plot. What have our kids and grandkids got to look forward to?

The NCF is my 'go to' place when I want to hear views that I firmly believe reflect those of the vast majority of the citizens of the UK. There's nothing radical here, nothing extreme. I hear you. The same thing could be said of the NHS . I’m 67 and “old school”. If the nhs hadn’t become so politically PC and followed traditional guidelines such as ward sisters who had high standards with nurses and doctors who maintained the high standards we might not be in such a mess. Nowadays it’s almost impossible to tell who is patient and who is staff. The “scrubs “ so called uniform is an absolute disgrace in its scruffiness. Hair not being tied back and the wearing of jewellery were considered a risk of cross infection. As is going outside in uniform, risking bringing infection in and taking it out to the public. It’s not bloody rocket science to understand that!
Also you couldn’t get into nursing if you were more than 10% above your normal body weight.aAnd don’t even get me started about the degree training . You’ve always had to half a brain to be competent RN but you didn’t need a degree under the traditional type training. The degree is not producing enough work ready RNs and the training has gone way downhill. Interesting also to note that it’s now easier than ever to get accepted into nursing than it was under the traditional system , the academic entry requirements were always stringent. Consequently now it is often attracting the wrong type of person. It is not just a job!
Apologies for the rant, but just feel that society as a whole has lost the plot. What have our kids and grandkids got to look forward to?
