Wonderful video, Sam! I could see tying a thin string or thread around those candy canes, and having the thread under the seal, so that the candy canes are free to dangle. Merry Christmas, Shonda

Thank-you for the tips , I find my metallic markers stay wet for days and are easy to smudge out of sheer desperation I used my heat gun and lifted my arm up further away from the painted stamp and tried to move one I just finished drying the metallic marker but that didn't work out my circle went out of shape so I learnt that the wax shouldn't be touched until it cools down then if you want to pick up your painted and cooled down wax of a marble surface to put double sided tape to use in a Journal on a tag etc go for it.

    Dear Sam
Thank you. I saw the wax seals on the website from where I purchase crafty goods but didn't buy as I didn't know how to do it and also it was quite pricey. I will make a purchase this week. And initially try to do it with a glue gun. Thank u so much again. Tc stay safe and blessed

Great video and great tips. I would suggest you experiment with placing your wax seal either on a damp flat sponge set into a small tea plate, or blow hot breath onto the seal (not great for Covid times) to create a hint of a vapor barrier between the seal and the wax. It accelerates the cool down time. You can pull the seal in about 30-40 seconds.
Nice examples. I think that your Post Office is friendlier than the one where I live.
I now tend to cut up or hole punch, the left over strips, from making sticker sheets on my printer, into tiny little pieces and use them to tack down the envelope flaps, before I wax seal.
I find making wax seals quite relaxing.
For very smooth glossy envelopes, I have made myself a small dowel with a fine sandpaper tiny disk I cut out. Diameter smaller than the seal’s diameter.
I also found it fun to use finger nail artwork under the clear glue sticks.
Your seals are beautiful. Again, thanks for sharing.

I have colored glue sticks. So I think I will give that a go. You can use your stamps -- both rubber & polymer-- if you ink them with embossing ink first. The embossing ink acts as a release. Used to do this in the late 90s. Faux seals had a moment back then. One of the advantages of glue stick is it is more resilient when go through US post. Wax tends to be too brittle and it breaks in our mail sorting machines. You can always use a padded outer envelope to protect the seal.
I do have seals and one wax stick somewhere. I just haven’t seen it since my last move 😂 I was having the soot problem with the stick so I’ll have to give beads a try. I like the romance of the beads and burners better.

I remember using the wax seals in the late 60s. I had lots of wicked sticks of wax. Now to find them.
I did venture onto a cheap site and buy a spoon and a burner. And of course so many pretty coloured wax pellets.
You have reminded me how much fun they are.
Do you put the plainer ones through the mail???? I've had the wax fall off and leave a red stain on the back of the envelope and the receiver wanted to know what the red blob was all about. What has happened to you? or do you not post them?

I’ve just ordered a Christmas set of stamps and a sets of melts with the burner and spoon so you should get the affiliate. I have a stamp with my initial I bought probably 20 years ago but it came with the candle stick style wax and it was that element that put me off using it, now I will be getting a more all year round set of stamps and doing this with all my cards. Have you had feedback on how the basic seals without embellishments hold up in the mail? I think you said you were adding embellishments when you were hand delivering so I’m guessing the plain ones can be posted but thought it better to check.

    • @bettyglad4479

Some crayons will fit into a glue gun but my past experiences ruined my gun over time so I never mentioned that, however if you carefully hold a flame to the end of a crayon you can melt it onto your cards, the problem with the crayons is they set so fast, so you need to be quick 😁
