Thanks for posting this review. This figure is really neat, but it's an easy pass considering the $400 price tag, and that I am happy with my Generations Metroplex. On the other hand, I assume that Maketoys designed Utopia to scale with it's future CITYBOT series of city-former figures. So if they release a Trypticon, I assume that figure would not be in scale with Generations Metroplex.
Nice, only cityformer that has managed to look like something other than a robot laying down, doing the splits, or sitting down in alt mode IMO, now I'm really stoked for their not scorpinok
He looks great, but I'll stick with my Generations Metroplex. As nice as this one looks in all modes, especially that really cool cruiser/ground mode, the price is just too much.
had this guy when I was 10 years old back in 87 wow what a monster and all what was missing baxk the was articulation awesome it's only a shame that it's taken 3rd party's to show up takara and we'll let's face it not hard to out do Hasbro pfft but never the less we thank yiu tfc make toys and the like.
Aside too much red in the color scheme this thing looks SO much better than Generations Metroplex in all modes, but what sells me most is the city mode not just looking like the robot doing the splits. I forgave that In G1 as a kid, but the Generations figure is even worse about it! I skipped the generations figure for that reason. This one though, looks awesome as a city and oddly even better as a carrier. The articulation almost makes me go buy it, but that $400 price tag is simply too much. Doesnt look like $100 more than I paid for X-Genesis.
They missed the boat with this guy. If they released this before Generations Metroplex was released people would be going crazy over it. Sales must be taking a hit right now, especially at $400.
Oh if only he wasn't $400...I've gotten both the Reprolabels set and the Upgrade set with includes the diffrent head and extra guns for my Hasbro Metroplex so he's a pretty good stand-in for now. Maybe Takara will release a Masterpiece Metroplex that looks similar to this.
How are you supposed to lay his robot face down again the panel that folds back? It never seems to stay flush (keeps popping aside at an angle), and when I tried to fidget with it to see what it was catching on, the helmet broke his face off completely from the pegs that go into his head. I know I'm doing something wrong, but now I'm too afraid to try again.
theyve dune omega supreem, thyve dune metro, when are they going to to a triptacon, who wouldent want ro reenact a beatle beteewn giant robot vs giant meca godziller. but still its an awsome toy.
neat, bot not for me my official hasbro Metroplex does the job, has electronics and lights, has slammer with him, is bigger and didnt cost as much (a 1/4 of the price utopia has) and I really am happy with him. thanks for the review
Completely agree with you Rayne Kraven. Really robust and great proportions. Great piece of plastic and engineering. I love the spaceship mode, but Hasbro Metroplex is enough for me. Plus I got Metroplex at Costco for $86 which was great. I thought $129 was too much. $400 for Utopia? no thank you. I took a silver sharpie to Metroplex's face too after taking it apart (there's a youtube vid for that) and his face looks WAY BETTER. I just can't justify spending that much on toys anymore.. Thank god Hasbro is coming out with Combiner Wars this year too.
Rayne Kraven Except Hasbro Metroplex hips are basically the loosest ratchets ever, so he will flop over at the waist at any opportunity. Also the stickers are garbage, don't stick to the toy well at all, peel off partially after a day or two and if you put any kind of adhesive tape over them while reglueing them it will pull the top part of the sticker off (doesn't happen to awsome lego stickers).
MultiJamesman I have to agree with you on the hip ratchet joints, but I am working on a way to improve them. I wont promise it will work though, I'm no professionnal.
Deadduck2pt0 I don't have that add-on kit or I wold have brought it with me for the review. Omega Supreme is represented on my shelves with the Planet X Genesis.
I assumed as much, but thought I'd ask. I know you have a decent collection, but don't keep or own everything you show. And if you had it/them, I'd understand if grabbing 1 more thing would of made the trip into work that night go from difficult to a fricking nightmare. Love watching your reviews/unboxings. Thanks for the reply!
Cruiser mode is a huge improvement over Hasbro's weak afterthought, but otherwise meh. City towers lean this way & that, and the bot looks "inspired by" Metroplex which isn't what I'm after when I buy 3P. I want spot-on character representations Hasbro can't provide. Brawny for instance, and Maketoys' own Green Giant. It's the double-edged sword of making unofficial Transformers. If you copy you're just a copier, if you make your own design you miss the target... Peaugh, congrats on getting Genesis to stand on the first try :D
I just don't get it. It's $400, it's not bigger than Metroplex, and it doesn't really have anywhere for the Legends class figures to go in city and flying fortress mode. It looks good, but not $280 more than Metroplex good.
For the life of me, I'll never understand why you guys always start out in the opposite mode from the one the figure comes in to show the transformations.... I just don't get it....
***** Got it. Love your reviews and don't mean to criticize. I'm new to the third party scene, usually can't make heads or tails of the instructions provided and look to reviews like yours for the transformations. Just wish I didn't have to work backwards so much. Great review though.
Had the original Metroplex and this looks so much better then the Generations version
Great review SENSEI!!!!

Ironically...the Hasbro Trypticon isn't in scale with the Hasbro Metroplex. However, the Hasbro Trypticon scales PERFECTLY with MakeToys Utopia!
This is what you get when you put more than the minimum amount of effort into a design. Very cool
His space ship mode reminds me a lot of the argama and nahel argama ships from gundam.
That a one large block of high quality plastic.
I didn't expect this to be so much smaller than generations metroplex. This is so much more detailed though
This is awesome never seen a cool toy like that
had this guy when I was 10 years old back in 87 wow what a monster and all what was missing baxk the was articulation awesome it's only a shame that it's taken 3rd party's to show up takara and we'll let's face it not hard to out do Hasbro pfft but never the less we thank yiu tfc make toys and the like.
Man that generations metroplex looks better I think, I'm happy I got mine love your work do!
At least this one looks a little bit like the FOC version.
Aside too much red in the color scheme this thing looks SO much better than Generations Metroplex in all modes, but what sells me most is the city mode not just looking like the robot doing the splits. Do you have G1 Metroplex? It would be nice to see them together!
MrHusang23 I don't. He remains one of the few G1 toys I've never owned.
***** I did wonder why you didn't compare them. Now I know :-)
Really making me want to spend that huge amount of money on this. It looks so good and that compared to Generations Metroplex. This wins by far.
Sitting in my head.
Heaven in my body.
Utopia, Utopia.

Awesome review! Thank you for the comparisons!
what a great, beefy metroplex. from what i've seen, i definitely think i'd prefer this over the hasbro version, but I don't have the space :(
Looks like Metroplex isn't the only guy showing off his guns in this video..That's what you get for lifting cities Peaugh!
Great work on this review. Hes cool and all, but hes a little small. I'm good with my generations Metroplex.
How are you supposed to lay his robot face down again the panel that folds back? His space ship mode reminds me of a Macross ship for some reason
Ship mode? I thought it was more a land carrier/tank myself>.>
Still, solid review. I REALLY like this version's designs more than the original!
he's like a giant robot slide puzzle
theyve dune omega supreem, thyve dune metro, when are they going to to a triptacon, who wouldent want ro reenact a beatle beteewn giant robot vs giant meca godziller. but still its an awsome toy.
Sick review peaugh Mary Christmas and a happy new year I like your reviews your inporttent to all transformers fans keep up the good work
metroplex heads the call of the last prime anyway really cool
Do a size comparison with Generations Metroplex, knowing it's taller, just wanna see a side by side of city mode & alt mode as well.
Watch the whole vid bro
Quincy T He did. He's asking me to show them side by side in all of the modes, not just robot. I'll see what I can do.
neat, bot not for me
my official hasbro Metroplex does the job, has electronics and lights, has slammer with him, is bigger and didnt cost as much (a 1/4 of the price utopia has) and I really am happy with him.
thanks for the review
You mean Scamper?
LA W yep Scamper, thanks for correcting me :)

Simply awesome! Great review as always man!
Wonder how much a 3rd party Trypticon in scale with Generations Metroplex would cost... probably too much to be viable.
Say Heaven, Heaven, Heaven, when all we know is Hell, Hell, He- wait. Wrong Utopia, my bad.
めっちゃ欲しい
That is a cool toy!
Where do you work i'm always wondering this
Welp, Stop Motion adventures away!
Nice chest bro XD
Loved the review if I had the money I would get this toy..
Is this suppose to be the Idw metroplex design?
You said it links up to an add on kit for Omega. Any chance you might have those, and can show that?
Deadduck2pt0 I don't have that add-on kit or I wold have brought it with me for the review. Omega Supreme is represented on my shelves with the Planet X Genesis.

Which one do u prefer,Metroplex or Utopia?
Utopia or Quantron? Which should I go for?
Best Metroplex ever.
Great review. Hopefully i can sell takara metroplex and some other stuff so i can get me one.
Where can i get him for $200-$300? Im tight on monies but really want this dude
where did you buy utopia
So is this as big or bigger than the Generations Metroplex?
KingOfHalla smaller.
Can't be smaller by much though can it?
Awesome!
I wish I had the money for this. That being said... I think some toys are just way too big for their own good...
It is a great pity that the transformer price it is totally out of my savings. Even more for those who live in Brazil.
the titan metroplex is much better looking in robot mode and city mode but it is a nice toy and nive rewiew

Peaugh, congrats on getting Genesis to stand on the first try :D
youmongrel Fair enough. I don't think Utopia is any more of a departure from his G1 design than Green Giant is from Devastator.
YAYAYAYAAYAAYAYAYAYAAYA METROPLEX YAYYAYAYAYAAYYAAAAAAHAHAHAAHAAAA
love it
Vary cool but the size is a little small
Maketoys is making a Scorponok analog right?
Chris Dodds Yep! Looks pretty cool too.
***** Any idea when that's coming out?
ігор👠👗👛👖👕👟💰💲
400 hundred dollars tfsource you have lost yo mind
Peaugh, help bro! Ferel rex is about 500 with shipping. Utopia is four plus shipped. Which one to get?? Anyone chime in.......thanks!
Jaco534 I'd go with Utopia.
Thanks bro!
better than generations metroplex. but not taller.
+JonnyBoy95 i believe metroplex was little shorter. thats if your a scale nut.
its like wrestling an aligator lol
source for intro?
The price would make sense if some parts were made of gold. It is shameful how much they think people will pay for this. PASS.
Any word on a third party Tryptocon?
I just don't get it. It's $400, it's not bigger than Metroplex, and it doesn't really have anywhere for the Legends class figures to go in city and flying fortress mode.
It looks good, but not $280 more than Metroplex good.
Man, that is one whole lot o plastic
@4:07 My girlfriend also gets a little wide on the rear...
For the life of me, I'll never understand why you guys always start out in the opposite mode from the one the figure comes in to show the transformations.... I just don't get it....
Degaliss I like to end with Robot mode. Simple as that.
