Learning when to push and when to kite is still my biggest flaw when I play battleships. My mindset tells me I have the most alpha strike potential, so I should be close to the action. But whenever I decide to get aggressive, my teams just seem to evaporate. I can't tell if it's just me being dumb, my team being dumb, or a glorious combination of the two. lol
Read game flow if you team is a bunch of wussys then maybe you should do what he does angle out of the way attract damage deal some but don't get aggressive until their brain neurons begin firing again 😂
@@jamiekay4210 I get it, you’re often playing with random people so it’s half luck half skill. I’ll get a kraken one match, then my team gets wiped the next.
No matter when this video was made it just showed up in my feed. I would like to thank you for helping the World of Warships player base become better players. You’re advice is always precise. You stress having a generalized knowledge of ships systems i.e. radar, sonar, etc. including positioning on multiple maps required to read gameflow and adjust accordingly. I believe this game is very well designed and enjoyable.
Step one: call for intelligence data as soon as the battle starts. Make sure to spam it as much as possible. Step 2: Charge dingdong first into the enemy to prove your manliness. Step 3: Die and blame the team for not pushing.
I'm a brand new player with no understanding of how to play battleships. I just got my first. You just have me a wealth of knowledge. You earned a sub just based off this video alone it was the first video I clocked.
1:28 I see the start of the typical Clockwise Dance, and shocked you have 2 teammates nearby. It’s typical at this point to expect your cruiser to throw away. I’ve only played this since February and not been in the BBs for a couple months at least now. Although did start nibbling away at the American line after enjoying the Royal Navy BBs.
My issue is that I try to tank for everyone. I put myself in really bad situations sometimes just because I'm trying to save a low health cruiser or destroyer. Then, I get obliterated being out of position (usually in an awful crossfire situation). It isn't necessarily an awareness issue it's trying to play hero, I am usually fully aware of what I'm sailing into and do it anyway like an idiot.
Great Video ! Videos like this , should be comming from Wargaming and Pop up in the game for All the New Player who Pick tier 8 or legendary ships.... Even Tier 7 is full of rookes in the last days
About ammo selection simply put when you feel you're not making AP maximum output change to HE. When target is far and angled your dispersion might be high and only hit 1 or 2 shells with minimum damage. But changing to HE you might get higher dmg with fire over time.
Man what a perfectly timed video. Unfortunately I’m sure those who need it most won’t see it, but just got spammed from some brain dead moron last night who couldn’t figure out how to play Missouri while crying that I wasn’t spotting for him in my cv 🙄 clearly someone wasn’t aware of the recent changes made to the game.
I can t play more than 4 games ... It s minblowing. I love this damn game but the playerbase ... DEAD! I ve played in Iowa got a cruiser but of course behind their criuser were 2 battleships and a destroyer. On my side of the map was me and a Richelieu. I ve got melted by 2 torpedos and of course the HE spamming battleships while my Richelieu teammate only shot... Bingo! HE... It s really really frustrating. Thanks for the effort Aaron. You do your part as always.
Thanks man. I started out recently few weeks ago and I honestly feel that I suck since sometimes I can't get the high score you guy get even when miserably trying to play cleverly and fail. Situational awareness and pressure performance is my bane. Trying to flank a point only to get surrounded by different ships in a parody of white girl and 4 black dudes is a clear indication what happens every time.😂 It was disheartening experience but the watching tips on youtubes and the seeing the results does give me spirit to do it again and better.
Shot selection is crucial, pulled a kraken with a Pensacola 3 BBs 1 DD 1 Cruiser, BBs never shot at me, too busy focussing on my teams bbs, the mind boggles when I see any easy to kill cruiser at the end of the game or at the top of the board
@@whereruaaron ark royal and serov are two frustrating CVs. Serov annoys me more as one of the only T5 ships that's not historic and it's super OP (relative to the AA available at the tier) Being a T4 and getting focused by ark or serov is just a bummer....
We need more ships like the Cali in legends i love the older american bb’s modernized with the wide hips, twin 5 inch guns and AA all over the ship lol. wish we had West Virginia 1944
The frustrating part of this game (and I don't actually blame the players, I blame WG) Is these 3 potatoes will finish thinking they played great: - survived to the end - got kills (picked up the low health BBs you left) - won the game Because there is no visible score for attracted damage and the game doesn't always reward winning play... Also no good in game tutorials or info... The other example is when a BB on your team hides at the back and then is the last team member alive.. by hiding they let their DDs and Cruisers die... But all they see is "I'm last alive and maybe picked up a kill finish my team sucked" WG doesn't tell them they cost their team the game...
I feel like ive been getting better lately, been averaging about 100k+ damage lately in my Atlantico and finally got a kraken with her and breaking my damage records
Am I right in thinking I should be face on when under attack? Like show the enemy only the front of my ship. Or should I be running away? Or do different ships have different rules when being bombarded with shells?
learn your ships armor profile. bow tanking ( just in case you don’t know that’s front towards enemy… like a claymore ) doesn’t always work as yes it’s a smaller target but some ships have rifles that’ll overmatch your armor making it useless. if you’re moving towards the enemy try a 15-25 degree angle. decent rule of thumb i’ve found is if my front guns have to swing but my rear guns still aren’t even close to being online then it’s a decent angle.
( broke it up so it’s not just a novel ) all that said if you can find an angle retreating where you get all the guns online but can still maintain a decent angle of 30 degrees or less you’re usually in a good spot. this is what i’ve found playing american battleships almost exclusively since launch day.
Honestly it's one of those things you just have to feel out, when I went un-spotted that's when I decided to push back in. It's one of those nuanced parts of the games
I don't know WHY 5 people will gather behind one rock? A dds wet dream. I'm playing ranked and sometimes players will still be "buttsniffing" i dont know man 🤔
When I have a battleship I can only shoot in 1 direction or wait 1min for the guns to move. How come others can shoot in opposite directions? Does the ship fire for you if a enemy is close by?
Men aren't passive, and you're playing passively by your own admission, They're right. It might lose you games, but there's real honour in fighting to the death rather than hiding behind islands and abusing concealment.
@whereruaaron To a degree, yes. You made a video for people trying to improve, and you spend most of the video shitting on your teammates for not intuitively knowing what you know. If you don't get why that's counterintuitive, then you need help of another kind

Love the tips and lessons that is taught in this video love the work Aaron!
Step #1) Abandon whatever flank you spawn on…
Step #2) NEVER shoot at DDs.. thats for the rest of your team to deal with
Step#3 go full broadside to the entire enemy team to get your secondaries going.
@@Derpitz96 step #4… win the game by slowly reversing once your AP shells “magically” aren’t dev striking everything you shoot at

I find it more often that my DDs don't go spot for me. So I just wither away or I am forced to try to pull a Leroy Jenkins and rush in in my BB.

What to do about aircraft? Some battles showing patience means losing 70% of hit points before you get a shot off.
CVs are tough...you can try to group up for a pass or two and then gain position
