- Drew Brees announced his retirement yesterday after 20 seasons in the NFL. He leaves with a Super Bowl win and the league's all-time leader in passing yards and completions. And it’s the end of an era for both Brees and the New Orleans Saints, who will have a different starting quarterback for the first time in fifteen years. In his announcement on Instagram, Brees wrote, 'I am only retiring from playing football, I am not retiring from New Orleans. This is not goodbye, rather a new beginning. I love drew. He was my favorite player growing up. Even though I played TE and LB. I’m 6’1 been like that since 5th or 6th grade. He gave me the confidence that a shorter guy could play any position he wanted. Makes me so sad I won’t be able to see him charge our team down the field making the CB and S scared. Could see them knees shakin. Beautiful career and a respectful man
Loved him since San Diego. That SB run was one of the most magical and inspiring sports moments I've witnessed. That was exactly the energy the city of New Orleans needed. Thanks for the memories, Drew!

We've had the privilege of watching Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers, Kurt Warner, all HOFers. Add guys like Russel Wilson, Pat Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Matthew Stafford (very quietly Stafford was the fastest QB to hit 10,000, 20,000, 30,000,, and 40,000 career passing yards...wait for it...IN NFL HISTORY). That's 11 current or future HOFers we've seen in the last 20 years. The NFL has never seen this type of generational talent at any position ever.
