  • Diy Scissor Lift Table made from Obtanium
I decided to make a Lift Table so I wouldn't have to drag my machines up a ramp and onto my Mom's old Picnic Table.
Some of my machines are to heavy to lift or drag myself and others don't want to roll.
I have a lot of scrap metal laying around so lets see what I can make
    Stay tuned.

That’s one of the better DIY tables I have seen on TH-cam. Bed framing is good stuff.

      Thanks Nine,,,,,
Yes, bed frame has its use and NOW that everything is sooo expensive, it may be even more useful!
Its disadvantage is its too hard, hard to drill and tap out.
Ya have to heat the area ya wanna work if ya need to do these things.
It is good for a run where ya just need a welded support.
      Thanks again for watching!

My kind of build. Using what is on hand. My channels' theme is repair reuse, repurpose, recycle.
Have to admit I had to look up Obtanium LOL
Bed frame is about the only metal I can "pick up" in my area and it is a problem when you have to drill through it not so easy to weld either. But I use what I can.
    Nice build. 👍 # 261

You can heat cherry red any area to drill and weld....(annealing).I think it has more nickel so burning it down, adding a bit of carbon, (throw a little oil on it) then letting it air cool helps a lot.

      Thanks,,,,Big Shout Out,,,N.Y,,,,,,
      I really like my lift,,,
One word of caution,,, I would increase the angularity if you want to lift more weight!
Mine wont lift things that are too heavy until it gets around a foot of the ground!
If the weight is centered it helps as well.
Once its around that height, I cant tell, it feels the same no matter what the weight.
Naturally if you do a clean sheet design you can address issues, mine was free scrap..
I wanted to talk more about this in the video but it would be too long,,,,

    Nice job Arch,
I noticed the base disappeared in the end. I was saying to myself early on that it wouldn't be needed for stability unless the lift of the table turned out too high. I think you settled on a nice range.
One suggestion find a old VSR drill and a couple of pulleys to upgrade from the crank to electric lift.

Yepper,,,,gonna weld a nut on for my 1/2 Milwaky drill I modded to turn over engines....I was also thinkin about the 120v snowblower starters,,, I bet ya dont remember,,,,they have those nice red pushbuttons and ya just plug in an extension cord...
Design on the fly,,when I 1st started it, I was thinking on using a hydo cylinder but changed when I simplified the design. I mentioned I would likely remove it but that footage wound up on the cutting room floor lol

I'm making a 'huge' one at the moment 350cm by 350cm (+-12feet * 12 feet) as a cover for a hottub, it will only have to rise from 1/3 to 4/5 cause if it started 'to flat' I couldn't find an obtanium way to power it going up (since it's carrying the weight of a deck) atm I'm using a truck winch in my plans :D
Did you calculate the strenght needed for the axles in any way or just 'over built' it heavily?

    • @TheNovaJohn
      @TheNovaJohn  ปีที่แล้ว

That sounds sweet! Good luck with it!
Experience is usually my guide. I look at things that are already made carefully. Like a floor jack wheels for example. I think of what other things do and support when I look for something I need. Engineers have tables which we can use as well but if you take something and think on it it will tell you basically what you can expect from it!
