  • Interview with Durand Gordon a.k.a. Mr. Nyce (The Breeze Team) on June 4, 2024.
Mr. Nyce is a dancer, popper, and an original member of The Breeze Team. The Breeze Team are "entrepreneurial street dancers" who refer to themselves as "Street Hitters" who take their street dancing to popular New York City locations where tourists frequent, such as 34th Street. Mr. Nyce explains that "Street Hitters" are not just BBoys, but also Poppers & Electric Boogie dancers, mimes, and BBoys that find themselves outside of the mainstream BBoy world of battling at clubs and other venues. Mr. Nyce breaks down the major differences between the two street dancing worlds. He also shares the story of how he battled a street dancer for the Mr. Nyce name.
Mr. Nyce speaks about going on tours, events, and traveling with KRS One where he assisted him with various work. He talks about absorbing Hip Hop knowledge from the perspective of KRS One. One major point on Hip Hop KRS One shared with Mr. Nyce are his 9 Elements of Hip Hop and not the four elements popularized in the mainstream Hip Hop world. You'll have to watch the interview to learn about KRS One's 9-Elements of Hip Hop, as explained by Mr. Nyce.
Correction: Mr. Nyce acknowledges he misspoke during the interview regarding the year he met Jay Day, who is the President of The Breeze Team. Mr. Nyce met Jay Day in 1983 in Junior High School.
