    That pedal configuration alone kinda shows where the engineers put an emphasis for the car's usage. And I'm liking the full canyon run pov excerpt too you should keep doing these.

    I agree about the quality of Hondas from the 90's and early 2000's. I had a 1992 Prelude and now a 2006 S2000 and 2004 CR-V. Even the CR-V feels much better quality than newer models.

    you dont need atts in a prelude to be able to have amazing corner capability. i have a base model, and cornering on stock suspension is super easy, and i can corner very very fast

    • @slashbashin
      @slashbashin 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Its true, but ATTS makes a pretty noticeable difference. I've driven the car with it off and the cornering doesn't feel the same.

    • @devonfelix3673
      @devonfelix3673 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Spicy Tuna it's inevitable, as enthusiasts any sort of auto trans strips a car of its performance value. That's y they get so much bashing, because they're being viewed through enthusiast eyes. If you owned both a manual and auto I guarantee ud enjoy driving the manual more 😁

    • @Saisei87
      @Saisei87 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Its not that you just want a manual for a car like the prelude (because you do) but ive heard the auto trans was notoriously and uncharacteristically shitty. The fact you beat the shit out of your lude and it still works fine is apparently the exception to the norm. I have a 97 base model lude with a 5 speed and love driving it. Only has 106k original miles.

      Alic Segura red line and rev limit / rev cut is 2 different things in a honda
      Normal h22 red line is 7400 and rev cut is 7950 ish depending on model
      So reving it out past redline all the way to rev cut is the way to stay in vtec

      John Strong Shift between 3000 and 3500 , keeps it from burning so much oil , vetec's kicks in sets the oil on fier , i see lots of guys flooring them at high rpms but at the end of the day , they been done burned up a lot of oil ......

      @John.strong 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      anttwon brown daily driving thats close to what i do, maybe 4k
      But my current engine doesn't burn oil at all because ive rebuilt it
      But on a canyon run where you are having some fun an 8k shift is so much more fun
      The trick is to not sit at high rpm if you know it burns oil

    • @banttwon
      @banttwon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Strong Yeah I can agree on that one , in Atlanta any were closed to 285 is super fun , it's my first VTEC , well I had a LS Monte Carlo with a V8 VTEC but it's my first Honda , my dad had a prelude when he was in high school, A 1981 Prelude and laft me in the back seat behind the high School , I was raised by my grands ever sent , I afraid of destroying the engine so I try not to go to high on the RPM's , I bought the car from a used dealer , whoever had it before me must not had much time for it or got other plans , but it runs in the family , thunder birds , mustangs , Ford Taurus and Preludes all SHO's overhead Cam's ....

    Only thing I can see that I'd change is the steering rack speed. Maybe I'm just imagining (and also granted, I haven't driven one) but it just seems to take so many turns to get into a corner, even compared to my 03 Protege.

  • @AlphanumericSoup
    @AlphanumericSoup 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason it's dropping out of vtec is because the tach is off by about 500 rpm by the time you get to the top so it'll look like you're changing at 8100-8200. If you keep that in mind you'll stay in vtec just fine. That's my experience from my 01 type SH at least.

    Its so much cheaper to turbo charge an na miata than buy a honda s2k. we talking about a 3,000 dollar miata with 6,000 to turbocharge compared to a 17 ,000+ dollar s2k. Ive driven my buddies s2k and I cant lie and say its not fun, but Id never buy an s2k over my miata. BTW im 6'2 and can heel toe perfectly fine with stock seats and stock steering wheel, maybe you need to work on your technique ;)

    • @slashbashin
      @slashbashin 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eh, been there. I have yet to see forced induction be done as reliably as a factory tuned engine. S2ks dont cost that much anymore. more like 13k for a decent one. I guess miatas have just never done much for me. If you really love NA engines its hard to beat a honda engine too.

    • @Mirror0fGhost
      @Mirror0fGhost 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      slashbashin I understand that you haven't seen one, a lot of people go cheap on their turbo setups or have no idea what they're doing. Me and my buddy did his turbo setup from flyin miata and he's been daily driving it for while up until recently because he doesn't want to rack up miles on his baby. Bur s2ks here in MD are quite the penny if you're trying to get one in good condition

      Fun is subjective, but a s2000 making similar power to a turbo Miata will still be faster around corners. But I agree with you, a turbo Miata is still fun and can be faster (in a straight line) than a s2000.
