I never really felt the meaning of this song until recently when I lost the love of my life almost two months ago after he ended an almost three year relationship. He always promised that we’d be forever, that I was the one he’d spend eternity with. He always loved talking about the little family we’d get to have together, our wedding, everything. He promised to always be with me and that he’d never leave me. But he did. The one who I also believed was my forever, left in the blink of an eye. Now I understand the meaning of this song more. Because I hope that in another life I would be his girl forever and that all our promises were kept. I’m moving on now, as much as it still hurts I’m not allowing this heartbreak to hold me back from my goals. He did teach me a lot however. And gave me something I could only dream of happening. He taught me to love myself, and to be confident. He taught me to see the beauty in the little things and to always remain hopeful. It’s because of him that I’m stronger today than I was yesterday. He may not be mine anymore but all that he’s taught me will stay with me forever. But I will still pray in hopes of him coming back. I’ll keep praying for him, and for the one I’m meant to be with to come soon and stay. I’ll pray to meet the one meant for me, and pray for him because I trust fate’s timing. I trust that it will work out in the end. I trust that fate has something set out for me, all I have to do is trust the timing.

I completely agree, in season 4 I believe it was, when Blaine sang teenage dream to Kurt in New York once again the acoustic version heightened the effect of the song. He sang it with so much emotion and it was heartbreaking because right after Blaine told Kurt that he cheated on him. They portrayed the emotion perfectly though, I never cry during shows or movies and I think it’s safe to say that scene had me sobbing for a while.

You’re in love with your best friend. You guys are really close and are total crackheads together. He makes you smile and makes your day with every good morning text. When you are together you feel like you are in your own little universe. You guys know the most about each other. Secrets you guys wouldn’t tell anyone else. He was your special person. You believed you could be his as well.
You know he liked someone else and it hurts you but it completely tears you apart when you help him get with that person. You hate seeing him smile with someone else.
You avoided him. He began to get worried, so you told him how you felt. Instead of being a jerk and rejecting you harshly; he comforts you and tells you everything is fine. He tells you that it changes nothing and that you will always be his best friend no matter what.
It kills you inside that he is such a nice and genuine person. It breaks you that he cares for your feelings. It sucks that he kept his word and you guys continued to be best friends. You wished he was a jerk that would ditch you because maybe then you would let go of the feelings you have for him. Him being the amazing person he is makes you fall for him more.
1 year later:
You guys are still best friends and hang out a lot. You have buried your feelings deep inside and dated other people but none worked out. You didn’t care. You had him.
He calls you one day and says “I’m engaged!” Your heart clenches and you feel the tears begin to fall as you reply in a fake happy and surprised voice. Your heart truly drops when he asks you “Will you be my Best Man?” And as you reply “I’d be honored to” you felt your other half was gone.
You stand next to him as he looks at you in tears. “Such a beauty.” He says and you smile as you agreed when he turns his head to look at his fiancé walk down the aisle in her flowing gown. You wished it was you.
You watched the person you believed was your soulmate tell someone else how special they are to him and how much he loved and appreciated them. You watched him with the biggest smile on your face cause even though you weren’t happy; you were glad he was. You would gladly suffer if he was happy.
Though you know his love for you is different than your love for him; you know that he loves you as his best friend and will support you in everything you do, so you do the same back. Even if it kills you inside and out.
