I never realized how emotionally painful this song was before. A lot of Katy perry songs are but you don’t notice it cause it’s pop music. Listen to glee sing teenage dream acoustic. It’s just as heartbreaking.
I completely agree, in season 4 I believe it was, when Blaine sang teenage dream to Kurt in New York once again the acoustic version heightened the effect of the song. He sang it with so much emotion and it was heartbreaking because right after Blaine told Kurt that he cheated on him. They portrayed the emotion perfectly though, I never cry during shows or movies and I think it’s safe to say that scene had me sobbing for a while.

I never really felt the meaning of this song until recently when I lost the love of my life almost two months ago after he ended an almost three year relationship. He always promised that we’d be forever, that I was the one he’d spend eternity with. He always loved talking about the little family we’d get to have together, our wedding, everything. He promised to always be with me and that he’d never leave me. But he did. The one who I also believed was my forever, left in the blink of an eye. Now I understand the meaning of this song more. Because I hope that in another life I would be his girl forever and that all our promises were kept. I’m moving on now, as much as it still hurts I’m not allowing this heartbreak to hold me back from my goals. He did teach me a lot however. And gave me something I could only dream of happening. He taught me to love myself, and to be confident. He taught me to see the beauty in the little things and to always remain hopeful. It’s because of him that I’m stronger today than I was yesterday. He may not be mine anymore but all that he’s taught me will stay with me forever. But I will still pray in hopes of him coming back. I’ll keep praying for him, and for the one I’m meant to be with to come soon and stay. I’ll pray to meet the one meant for me, and pray for him because I trust fate’s timing. I trust that it will work out in the end. I trust that fate has something set out for me, all I have to do is trust the timing.

It kills you inside that he is such a nice and genuine person. It breaks you that he cares for your feelings. It sucks that he kept his word and you guys continued to be best friends.
