In 1985, I used to work in Sears there. Made $3.45/hour. Then worked in a photo develop shop there. Used to take the bus from Stuyvesant Avenue to there. One day I missed the last bus after closing and had to walk all the way home to near Cadwalader park. It really helped me build character because I had no car. Now I'm retired, home paid off and enjoying this video.
@@Haustorium12 Yes I remember that Kahunaville had a bar that I would frequent in my drinking days. I think it was the only establishment in the mall that served alcohol. The other restaurant/bars were free standing outside of the mall.
I went to this mall quite a bit when I was a kid in Trenton and Morrisville - that was in the '80s, though. I was last there in 2011, buying my nephews a video game and being served by a very... enthusiastic clerk. In fact, as we were leaving, my oldest nephew said, "Yeah, I think she likes you." I kind of chucked, because this was a 13-year-old talking, but my mother chimed in, "I think he's right."
While the mall was under construction one hot summer in the 70's, my cousins and i ,as tweens/ teens loaded up a wagon with ice and a variety of soda. We sold cans of soda to the construction guys. I believe our price was 25 cents per can. We sold cases per day, Loved shopping there back in the 80's. I agree, the nall seems to be holding its own.
Wow... Oxford Valley Mall! From Trenton now live in San Diego, havent been there since the 90s..Happy to see its still occupied, sad the Sbarros is gone!
Alot of people don't realized that there was a murder back in early 1975. It was either February or March when a 17 year old senior was stabbed to death in front of Gimbles. She made it in the space of doors that came from the outside and the doors that lead into the store. There was snow/slush on the ground, any evidence was washed away. Where the girl died the maintance crew had cleaned the area so there was no evidence. It still is a cold case. Also Gerald Ford made a campaign stop there where the office area was. He said that he was happy that he was at Orchard Valley instead of Oxford Valley. Ronald Regan made a campaign stop there. He was at the area where the Christmas Tree is in front of Sears. So many memories there
I live near Binghamton NY. It’s really nice what they’ve done with the old Oakdale mall. Turned it from a dying building to the oakdale commons with BJs, Dave and busters, a brewery and restaurant, some health care places, Dicks house of sport, and more to come. They are also building apartments in the rear lot.

Back in the 80's, we used to go to an independent book store owned by an elderly couple. It was a nice store and they were sweet.
I vaguely remember it. Was it called the Booksmith?
@davidduran9388 could have been. I really don't remember what it was called.
I miss the ramp !!!! 😢
Love that voice affectation you have.
My sister and I always say how sad going to OVM is these days because we remember how great it was back in the 70's and 80's.
That’s a decent mall, seems still alive and kicking. Thanks for the walkthrough.
@@Trumpetjoe40 Sure, thanks for watching!
That forever 21 used to be an awesome arcade. Used to go there in the 90s.

Thank you for this. Merry Christmas
@@zachsawyer-si4wt Thanks for watching! Merry Christmas.
I just barely remember all of the fountains. Made the place seem magical to me, a literal toddler at the time.

I would love you to go to Quakerbridge Mall in Lawrence NJ on Route 1 and hear your thoughts!
@@crimsonpearl4686 I should definitely be getting there soon.

It's good to see malls finding unconventional tenants like that. Adjusting with the times.
That mall is doing way better that nearly every mall in new york state.
Malls would’ve don’t better if they were more multipurpose and had a better setup within the mall and the surrounding area.
You should go to country club mall in Levelle, Maryland
@LoganGroves-oi2lw My goal is to eventually visit every mall within a reasonable driving distance.
actually i was here in this mall at the end of july and it was packed
@@RuinNationGaming Interesting to hear. I haven't seen it packed in years (outside of December), but maybe I'm just going at the wrong times.
How many $15 tshirts do you need to sell to clear a mall's $14,000/mo base rent asking price? If you're struggling financially, thank a landlord.
@@j.ramsey8863 I really do wonder how some of the stores stay in business.
Not very Christmas looking, so sad.
