- So it's time for a little snack. Smoothie and Milkshake can't take it any longer and desperately NEED it. Lots of meowing, snacking and pieces of food in their fluff.
Smoothie and Milkshake are two British Longhair cats living in The Netherlands, respectively three years and one year old. Since she was called “The Most Photogenic Cat In The World”, Smoothie rose to fame in 2016. She’s the Queen of Fluff, and always camera-ready.

@Anjali Rajadhyaksha, my thoughts exactly. I'd love to see a grooming video. I kept trying to imagine how much time it takes to keep these cats' hair from becoming uncontrollable mats.
kaitykaity I have a long haired cat and his fur does not become matted even if it is not combed and brushed every day. It depends on the breed. I rescued a young main coon cat and when I brought it to the vet, she removed a lot of hair knots which were causing the animal a lot of discomfort. But not all long haired cats have this problem.

Now we know for sure why Milkshake is twice the size of smoothie. They are both so very beautiful.
I love the dark bottoms of Smoothie's paws.
My vet said wet food is good for the urinary tract and advice me to give both wet and dry food to my 13 year old cat.
Wet food twice a day (approx half a can) with a bowl of crunchies available.

And 10 hairball treats daily. I tried the gel but that was like trying to play pin the tail on the donkey trying to get the gel on the cat. For optimal presentation I smoosh the wet into the shape of a mouse. He seems to like that.
I feed mine both as well. When I was a kid though my parents only fed the family cats dry food. They all lived long healthy lives as well. I really think it all comes down to individual cats needs and behaviors. I've had some cats that want nothing to do with even the finest of wet cat food and others that will eat the cheapest of wet food over dry. Cats are individuals and no one feeding style will be right for every cat.
Edit: as for hairball treatments I got lucky and 3 out of my 4 cats will actually lick the gel goop off my finger and the one that won't is calm enough for me to get it on her paw. I had to stop using the hairball treats because one of my cats decided she wasn't going to eat anything but the treats and the easiest solution was to stop using them.
Heard Milkshake mew so much for the first time! He's a hungry boy! Smoothie is as always a queen not getting too needy! Love both of them! 😊😊

Had an excellent vet who said wet at least once a day. Dry only means there are some things they don't get that they need. I missed him when he finally retired.
Milkshake is the vocal.one I see but Smoothie going up on her hind legs to get closer to the dish while you carried it won, hands down.

Our little one we got from the humane society, she will not so much as like anything that isn't dry food. We've tried repeated.
Girl cats can do dry food plus water only. My wee princess is a rescue who had been treated for colitis. She eats Lily's chicken dry food, which has no grains, but loves Dreamies

I give wet food in the morning for breakfast and then dry food for the rest of the day with an occasional treat at 4pm. Your cats have so much patience.

I feed my kitties dry food during the day, for dinner they each get half a small can of wet food. The wet food is more about bonding time with my babies.🥰
Our four kitties including our white fluffy BLH have kibble as their main food then at 4pm while I make supper they all get a wet 'treat' and they swarm around and are excited just like Milkshake and Smoothie with our baby, a Siberian finishing off what the others don't want :)

I have a Shaded Silver Teacup Persian and a White Ragdoll (both adopted from Rescues during the same week). The get all canned food, mostly Shredded Chicken and Shredded Turkey, with treats of freeze dried Chicken. They are the first cats I have fed all canned food to. This is because when my late Himalayan cat was dying of lymphosarcoma, our Veterinarian said, cancer loves carbohydrates, so I stopped feeding her all dry food during the months of chemotherapy.

I get so much joy from watching these videos! Regarding pet food, you may want to watch the Netflix documentary called Pet Fooled about the pet food industry. Dry food is not healthy in the long run, proven to cause many health issues for a large percentage of kitties. Wet is better, if you get a brand that is healthy with less chemicals, and even raw is recommended by many. These cats are so beautiful! I would love to see them healthy and happy for many years to come! Perhaps there is a veterinarian near you that is aware of the latest research on pet food and pet health to give recommendations. Not all vets are trained this way. Thank you so much for sharing your kitties with us - they always make me smile!

Rebecca M - it depends on the brand. There are human-grade types that are good enough that I would eat them myself if I weren't vegetarian. I got one of them from the vet ages ago to try with two sisters who were about two years old at the time. One sister was sharp and focused from kittenhood, while the other was beautiful but dumb and very unfocused. She even batted at a string in a distracted way. Two weeks on the new canned food (human-grade, real food ingredients) and the beautiful but dumb one was laser-focused just like her sister. The difference was remarkable. She very quickly trained me to feed her whenever she scratched on the refrigerator door, and her sister learned the trick from her. She also started bringing me a string when she wanted to play. Before she would meow aimlessly and I had trouble figuring out what she wanted. Her sister was the equivalent of humans who could thrive on Twinkies and root beer, but she obviously really needed what was in the new food or else was needing to stop getting something in the standard Purina cat chow.
The vet felt that many ailments she was seeing were due to supermarket cat food. She said that although better food was more costly, it saved get bills in the long run.
So read labels carefully.
My 18 year old fluffy butt, Lily, has become picky about her food. Sometimes, only kibble will do, other times she’ll only want wet food and sometimes, her Majesty insists on both! She can be an ornery old granny when she wants to😅. Still love her to bits though.

our cats have open access to dry food all the time, and we feed them a can of wet food in two seatings. so half a can in the am, half for dinner.

O shows meows my husband into filling the plate, then he meows him over to the correct location (one spot for their main meals, which are always wet, a different spot for their dry snack), and also calls his sister U to the table, because apparently everyone would forget food, placement, and kitties if he did not steer it all.

I give mine a small amount of wet food twice a day (like 1/3 of a small size can for my meezer), and small amounts of dry during the day as their snacks.
1/3 of a can twice daily, that is.
